This is a place you'll want to come back to again and again: we have! Surrounded by woodland that stretches down to the beautiful Devon coastline, the hotel is an idyllic spot off the beaten track along its own private drive. The hosts are very welcoming and the whole place has been done up sensitively to preserve its historic past.

My wife and I spent four lovely days at the hotel, with our dog, for some quality peaceful time together. The hotel has beautiful views across the Heddon's Gate valley and is ideally positioned for exploring the North Devon coast. The hotel was amazingly peaceful, food was well presented and delicious, our room was spacious and well equipped with a... More

This was a last minute getaway for myself and my husband and our 2 border collies. We wanted somewhere that was quiet and peaceful, with good walks and stunning scenery. We certainly got everything we wanted and more. We were greeted on arrival at this hotel by Mark and Pat, and immediately made to feel very welcome. We were shown... More

This was a quick weekend away to celebrate our anniversary, we had our honeymoon here 33 years ago and had always meant to return - we were greeted very warmly by the recent new owners Mark and Pat - this is a beautiful peaceful place, it is dog-friendly, and is ideally placed for lots of long and challenging coastal walks... We have just returned from a four day visit to the Heddons Gate Hotel and what a delight it has been. We were made to feel so welcome by Mark and his help and advice on the surrounding area was most welcome. The bedrooms are all very tastefully furnished, we particularly liked the dining room which was very light and... More

The location of the hotel is very impressive and very secluded in a lush valley. It is a perfect destination if you love the countryside and want to get away from it all. The route instructions that Mark sent out were fine and we had no difficulty in finding the hotel. The owners were very warm and friendly and made... More

Heddon's Gate is a great place to spend a night and rest when walking the South West Coast Path. It's so peaceful. My room was large including a big bathroom and I loved the decorations in the hotel, as well as the atmosphere the hosts have created. It's quiet so you'll get a good night sleep. Very good breakfast with... More

We first stayed in this hotel over thirty years ago. Delighted to find that it had reopened under new proprietors we booked a three night stay. Mark and Pat are wonderful hosts and they have worked so very hard to restore the hotel to it's former elegance. All of the bedrooms were always very comfortable but the improvements that have...
