This pub was recommended by a friend who also holidays in North Devon. We've not explored exmoor before and took the opportunity to enjoy one of the coastal walks finishing at the hunters inn for dinner. The staff were helpful with information for our route beforehand and happy to book us a table because we're a large group. On our... More

This is a well known interesting and historic little inn, tucked away in a little Devonshire valley. We arrived mid week and didn't book in advance - a local with us said it wasn't necessary but it turned out it was - it was busy but they managed to find us a table in the bar. The food was ok... We had a fabulous dog walk to Heddons Mouth with our dogs and finished it off with a lovely cream tea. Two scones, ample jam and cream. My only complaint would be the teapot and water pot. Leaked through the table all over my lap! Friendly staff and well worth a visit.

This B&B hotel is set in the beautiful Heddon Valley; just one mile/30 minutes walk through the woodlands of Exmoor National Park to Heddons Mouth. We had three nights in a Standard Room. The room was OK but nothing like the one and only photograph on the website of a Standard Room. It was very small and had insufficient storage... More

First meal here was Sunday lunch on a busy day two weeks ago. The service was good, the plates were hot, as was the food. All parts of the meal were excellent, especially the vegetables and the puddings were good too. We ate another enjoyable meal there the following week and would recommend the Inn as an ideal place to... More

After a great walk in the Heddon Valley this was the perfect place for lunch outside after the walk. A good menu was available and our "steak sandwich" in a Panni was great. My wife's mussels were very good as well. The chips were very good and the beers on offer good. Excellent place and excellent venue.

The location, once you get there, is idylic- set at the base of the valley and surrounded by woodland. I say-once you get there- since if you approach it from the north , which most sat-navs prefer, you will be faced with a road that frankly doesnt warrant the name. Its so narrow, that even in my Porsche, I was... More

Old school room. Nice change from modern chain rooms. King size available unfortunately we didn't, Fantastic location and great local walks. Local roads need care as either narrow and/or steep. (Not a criticism, thats proper Devon roads!) Staff great (slightly sluggish one evening with puddings on one evening) but otherwise no probs. Peacocks noisy but great to see. Nice touch.... More

Had a great couple of days away at the Hunters Inn. Managed to book last minute with the wife and two young children. The Sunflower Room was perfect with lounge, two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. David, the owner and his team were excellent and really made us feel welcome and well looked after. The hotel is set in a beautiful... More

The hotel, food & standard of amenities was just fabulous, but all the roads getting in end out were a bit scary if you are not used to Devon roads. But it us definately worth the effort getting there, as the rooms, food and walking are fabulous!! I have every intention of returning. Plus, I forgot, the peacocks roaming around... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hunters Inn pub is blessed with the most magical setting, tucked at the bottom of the exquisitely beautiful Heddon Valley on Exmoor. The narrow road from the moor descends beneath a canopy of ancient trees. Sun-dappled leaves glitter and gleam. The river runs past the inn and a short walk takes you to the beach. ... more   less
