We stopped by here at the recommendation of a family member (who referred to The Staghunters as the best pub he'd ever visited!) and we were not disappointed! The menu is sizable and has something for even the fussiest of diners, I opted for the Gammon special they had on offer and have never seen a gammon steak so big!... More

Excellent meal (Sunday lunch) which was hot and very tasty with good portions. Veg could have been a bit softer but no real complaints and will definitly go back. Friendly bar /waiting staff and is dog friendly.

We have been coming down to Devon for years as a family and we stayed in Lynton & Lynmouth and then in Brendon. I have always gone to Staghunters whether it was when I was on a riding holiday or just having dinner. Mainly because it is traditional pub food and is very nice. The last few years I have... More

We didn't stay in the hotel but we went down for Sunday lunch, they had some great beers and the food was great, good portions and great taste, excellent service and very friendly staff. I took my parents who like traditional Sunday lunch and they enjoyed it and would go back again.

A friend and I have just spent a week in Brendon and we had dinner every evening in the Staghunters. It's a lovely place by the river, a family business run by Richard & Wendy and their two sons Simon & James. We were made very welcome and we enjoyed all our meals. They serve traditional, home-cooked pub food in... More

Here is a gem hotel with fantastic location - food outstanding (slightly too big a potions) Priced well. River, quietness and even a chapel. BUT a total mung bean behind the bar, rude and obviously hates his job! The guy needs firing! It ruined the total charm of this idyllic place. Longish hair and an unkempt beard. Shame coz its... Thank you for reviewing our hotel so favourably. The bearded, long haired fellow, (i'm not sure you are allowed to call names), was actually a local, admitted with an unusual sense of humour, who stepped in to help out voluntarily. I' m sure he was unaware and didn't mean to spoil your evening; by the way he's a great guitarist!! More

Lovely pub with accommodation in a wonderful peaceful setting. Spent a couple of nights here with our dog and really enjoyed it. Very friendly place serving good reliable pub grub. Great centre for exploring with loads of walking from the front door. Only downside was that dogs are not allowed in the private garden - but this is only because... More

Did not stay here but visited twice for meals. We had a roast dinner on Sunday evening and even though the hotel was busy with guests eating and tables reserved fro them we were made most welcome(we booked our table as well,a must). The beer always top class also the staff. The other meal was a weekday lunchtime and just as pleasant.

My partner and I stayed here for three days last week. Wonderful welcome, great food and beautiful setting. Family owned pub where you are always guaranteed a great break. We stayed in room 9 with a super balcony and great view. We will be going back again this year as a few days here makes you feel so relaxed. Dinner... More
