OK, after four stays you'd think we'd get bored. But no; the quiet, the comfort, the friendly welcome, the fresh local food, the local keg beer and even the local gin! keep us coming back. We walk the 3 three miles or so through the woods on the banks of the East Lyn river to Lynmouth (the river which was... More

We were doing long circular walk and in danger of missing longed for cream tea at Watersmeet. This makes a great alternative. Huge scones with generous portions of cream. Would have given 5 stars if scones had been warmed. But pretty yummy anyway!

Came here after a long walk from watersmeet. I had the plouhmans. Fairly basic but very good quality. The beer is great and the staff are very friendly. I'm looking forward to coming back next year. I left my glasses at the table and the lady came running down the road with them.

we stayed at this inn for 2 nights. the food was fantastic and the area that it is in is outstanding. Its right next to the river Lyn. Opposite the pub is a bridge that crosses the river giving access to the riverside pathway. Follow this path and you will find hidden pools and waterfalls that are so beautiful.after a... More

Beautiful setting on the river in idyllic village of Brendon. Comfortable accommodation with great breakfasts. The owners and staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Recommend the food - excellent pub food..good quality and good value. Excellent base for walkers and fishing. We will be planning a trip back here soon.

Wonderful location, clean and comfortable accommodation, lovely food, wine and beer. Many walks and stunning scenery on the door step. A wonderful two night stay. The staff and management could not be friendlier and more helpful. We will be back.

Stayed at The Rockford Inn for 1 Night, wish it had been longer. This was by far the best overnight stay we have had, and we go away quite regularly. From check-in to departure everything was perfect. Wonderful picturesque and peaceful location. Ideal for walkers. The room was spotlessly clean and light and airy. Slept like a log and woke... We've called in to this inn several times in recent years while walking in the area. There's always a warm welcome, good beer, and good food, as well as a log fire and a great ambience. We live in Brighton where there are numerous pubs put none of them can match the atmosphere or wonderful setting of the Rockford.

We have stayed many times at The Rockford Inn and it is always consistently excellent. Always a warm welcome from Cathryn and Caroline, the log fires are toasty after a walk in this wonderful location. Chef Sarah's delicious food is perfection every time - so yummy, Sarah! The rooms are clean and comfortable. How could all this be bettered? THEY... More
