Stopped here after walking on Dartmoor. Very close to Wistmans wood. The hotel has ample off road parking. We chose to order the cream tea. A bit expensive but you do get very good quality tea. Excellent home made scones and jam. Recommend but a bit expensive if on a budget.

We booked a very last minute deal on an internet site - only about 2 hours before we arrived, for an overnight stay. We were allocated a downstairs room no. 28 which we were taken to by the receptionist who was apologetic as the room had the heating off as she had only just printed our paperwork off so hadn't...

A very good hotel, staff friendly and knowledgeable, pleasant lounge/bar area and a comfortable, spacious room and bed. Superb meals served in the restaurant and a good range of quality beers and wines are served. The hotel has the added attraction of the geese that patrol the grounds, they look very well fed! The hotel is ideally situated for exploring...

We stayed here a few nights. The hotel is charming and the people are really good and helpful and I don't want to put any holidaymakers off but it does have disadvantages that it is wise to be aware of before booking. There is no mobile phone signal at all for any network. The room we had was full of...

Quaint rooms with lots of charm and fantastic views. All was clean and tidy. The toiletries selection was good and came in handy as I forgot a few bits. The decor was throughout the hotel, bar and restaurant was very tasteful and I'm keeping with the old place. Staff were very friendly. The food served in the restaurant was amazing...

Have visited this beautiful rural hotel many times so I thought it was time I shared my thoughts. We visited early lunchtime and as usual found the staff welcoming. This hotel is dog friendly also. There is plenty of room for lunchtime meals and the menu is varied - something to please all tastes I would think. We chose omelette...

Called in as a party of 10 spur of the moment around 2pm. We were quickly accommodated in the dining room by a young man (slightly foreign accent, sorry we didn't get his name) lovely surroundings both in the bar area and restaurant and looked steadily busy. The young man was helpful with our order and we ordered and waited...

We were very pleased to be able to accommodate you all in the restaurant, we often welcome large parties who drop in after a walk out on the moor or seeking refuge from a sudden turn in the weather. I am aware of the member of staff that you have mentioned and will certainly pass your kind comments onto him....

Booked two rooms for a birthday - one normal double and one 'historic' which was £40 more. The better room was definitely worth investing in - spacious, comfortable and characterful. we didn't get a 4 poster which is a shame but actually the room was gorgeous, with lovely big bathroom and huge windows (Vivian Leigh Suite). Bed quite comfortable but...

Stopped in for a coffee and toasted tea cake. Service was slow, the waitress could not cope with more than 2 coffees at once and served others at random instead of in order. Coffee was tepid and the lady who served me said the staff did not like doing toasted tea cakes as it took too long.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your recent stop with us, I am sorry to hear that you found the service to be slow and the coffee not as warm as you would have liked. If ever that is the case we are always more than happy to replace for a fresh coffee should a...
