If you're walking on Dartmoor this isn't a bad place to stay, with a variety of accommodation options from camping to the bunkhouse to B&B. I stayed in the bunkhouse (in the late 1990s and again) this time. The bunkhouse is basic (foam mattress, "curtain" on elastic slider, etc), but also commensurate with the budget. There's a kitchen area with... More

We stayed here camping for 2 nights 17th & 18th August. There is 1 big field and 1 smaller field. We chose the smaller as you aren't able to park next to your tent in the the bigger field. Check in was quick and friendly in the pub and as soon as we had our permit we were free to... More

Visited a couple of times now after some long walks over the moors. Can honesty say each time I've been the food has been top quality. The staff are also lovely. In particular the lady who was waitress on Tuesday 16th August.

We stayed in the bunkhouse and it was adequate It was clean and had decent shower and toilets However the room had a damp patch on the ceiling , the mattress was just a bit of foam And there was no ladder to the top bunk, you did get a nice clean towel to use though I know this is... More

I have been trying to book my walking group of 22 in for a lunch in late August. sent 3 emails over a period 10 days but no reply, they simply do not respond. I finally made a phone call, and a member of staff promised to inform the owners to make contact with me but nothin has happened. Waste... More

Visited on a weekday lunchtime. The place was quite busy, and we (four adults) sat at the only available table, which was rather small. After ordering drinks (they keep an excellent pint of the local beer, Jail Ale!), one of the staff asked if we would be ordering food. When we replied "yes" she said a larger table had just... More

We stayed in the bunk house section and what a disappointment. They don't give out keys to the rooms as their guests can't be trusted (the words of the guy who checked us in), so you cannot leave bags in the rooms but have to leave them in the car. The landlord and landlady who consider themselves to be very... More

Sorry, I'm not expecting this to be published. I have been staying at the Plume for years. But they have employed the rudist and most objectionable bar man (Dave) on the planet. Myself, my family and friends will not return to this pub, whilst he is there. You are better of going down the road to the Prince of Wales.

We stayed here for two nights over may bank holiday 28/5 - 30/5 2016. On arrival we were checked in and we confirmed with the young girl behind the bar that we had reserved a table in the bar area for both Saturday and Sunday evening when we booked at the end of January. She said yes you have been... More
