Great location, friendly helpful staff and excellent facilities. Home-cooked food in the dining room by Wendy was a real treat. Good location for exploring Dartmoor on foot or by bike. We even brushed up on our table tennis skills.

Stayed at the youth hostel as part of a family activity package booked through Adventure Okehampton (see separate review). Could not fault the ensuite room - spotlessly clean and comfortable beds. Good food available and everyone very friendly. One note of caution: make sure

Thank you for your feedback on your Family Holiday at YHA Okehampton. It's really great to know that it met your needs for a few days away from home with the family. I'll pass your comments on the friendliness of the staff, good standards of housekeeping and catering to the management team, to pass onto the staff. On the question of ID when booking in to a YHA hostel, photoID isn't a requirement, but it is easier, as two pieces of ID are required if you don't have photo ID. I'll pass your comments on the process to the booking manager, to check that all outgoing emails confirming our bookings make this clear. We hope to welcome you back to one of the great Youth Hostels in the SW.

We were travelling to the North West of Cornwall and chose the yha Okehampton because it was conveniently located off the main roads. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit the area and the National Park. If you are taking the train, this property adjoins the station and

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stopover on the way to NW Cornwall. Hopefully next time you'll have time to enjoy the National Park and the surrounding area. The summer train Sunday service has now started, running 4 trains from Exeter Central until mid September, but SUNDAYS only! We understand that there maybe possibilities that a full-time service could be restored in 2 to 3 years, as a commuter service, but as yet we don't have any confirmation. The daily bus services continue to link Okehampton to Bude and Exeter.
