After lovely stays at YHA Lizard and Coverack, this was definitely sub-standard. The 6 bed room was fine, although the storage cages looked battered. Part of the floor in the male toilet block was permanently wet (water hopefully!), there were no hooks near the wash basins to hang your towel etc, and no shower curtain. Dinner was not offered on... Stayed with friends for the one night in a six bed with bathroom, had pre booked a gorge scrambling in the afternoon which was hilarious fun, the instructors kept the motivation of our group going the whole time. We had planned to walk to town to eat but stayed and ate in the hostel instead; the food was as good... More

Stayed with my family for short break and enjoyed our stay very much. The children really enjoyed playing pool and table tennis in the games room. Our bedroom and ensuite were both spacious and clean. We were able to self cater which helped to keep holiday costs down but treated ourselves to a meal in the onsite restaurant which was... More

Poor service - you felt like staff were being inconvenienced by having to deal with you. Needed a room where I could sort my cycling gear out. Paid £50 for a single room, which turned out to be a very small room with 2 bunkbeds. En suite bathroom had paint peeling from ceiling and mould around shower. I'd paid as... More

Hostel is modern and clean, the staff are willing but lack any sense of organisation. There was no indication that you needed to book a time for your evening meal. Even though the choice was limited, the quality of the food was poor. I had mushroom carbonara. The pasta was over cooked and congealed. They would be far better to... More

Room and bathroom good and clean, beds comfortable and the place was quiet. Busy so staff had a hard time dealing with all the queries but they did try to help everyone. Walked into town and had food and beer and a taxi back, after cycling all day we had had enough of the hills! Lovely building, didn't try the... More

Stayed in lots of YHAs over the years but this was a bit sad. Rooms clean but toilet/shower facilities very cramped. Food used cheap ingredients and it showed - think Asda bargain sausages and watered down scrambled egg and you'll get the idea. Basic so glad we only used it as a stopover.

We had a lovely 2 night stay with our two children (aged 5 and 7). The accommodation was a family room with en-suite, we wanted a cheep two nights away but also a little privacy. The room was clean and tidy. The activities we did was at an additional cost and we enjoyed them. We did bushcraft and climbing. The... More

Thank you for the feedback on your stay. We are glad you enjoyed your visit to both the Party in the Park event and our hostel. Happy to hear you enjoyed the presence of the heritage railway next door. Perhaps you'll come back again, as the Polar Express starts soon on Dartmoor Railway. More

What a fabulous place. Great location, nice clean rooms and decent food... Oh and it's licensed! Plenty of parking for cars and bicycles. If you are doing a Coast to Coast like we did the location is also ideal. We stayed in a 2 bunk en suite. The hostel was very well run. The staff were excellent and very friendly.... More

Thank you for your response. We are grateful that you consider us to be one of the best YHA's you've stayed in. I will pass your comments to the staff, as they are always concerned to make the customer happy.
