We have been to this pub quite a few times over the last 20 odd years, the present owners are friendly and helpful, dogs are welcome children are not allowed in the main bar area only in the restaurant part (as are the dogs). The garden is very nice in the warm weather too. Looking forward to visiting next week... More

…this lovely, old, traditional English pub. We popped in today, after hiking through Lydford Gorge for a quick bit of "refreshment". We received a lovely warm welcome from behind the bar - Mo was a brilliant hostess and funny, friendly company – thank you so much Mo! Locals were friendly too, as were some passing, regular visitors to Lydford and... More

A truly magical place. How old English inns should be. I felt very secure and safe. The staff were most welcoming and helpful as we arrived late Saturday night and I'm sure they just wanted to go home! The breakfast was huge and to die for. Very very good. Now, here's the but. But it's not a bad but against... More

So full of character, this place is a wonderful B&B. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a fantastically soft and comfy bed. The bathroom was very nice, too. The staff are excellent (look out for Mo and a couple of very sweet younger girls) and the breakfast is traditional, hearty fare. The atmosphere of the place makes it -... More

This was our first visit to the Castle Inn and it won't be our last. We were on our way to Cornwall for New Year and had booked to stop overnight on our way there. What a fabulous find. If you like quaint, cosy, old English pubs then you will love this. The bar is small with a welcoming fire,... More

Yet again everyone were so welcoming to our group of fellow motorcycle club members here for a few drinks and a christmas dinner party. The room was very clean and very well presented as they have always been for our stays. The food was outstanding how Rob and the team can make all of the 12 plates we ordered at... More

The Castle is a lovely old pub, full of typical pub character (don't try to read your book in the bar in the evening, it is way too atmospheric). I stayed for two nights, alone, while riding at Meldon Farm (Dartmoor Riding Holidays) not far away. Sue the landlady looked after me very well. The breakfast was copious and tasty,... More
