Ordered the garlic mushrooms and a cheeseburger, which turned out to be a delicious monster burger. The serving staff are engaging and interested in you. Perfect for a spot of lunch and TLC. Thank you Sportsmans team, sterling service

I stayed here after 2 weeks hiking across Dartmoor, so would have slept anywhere with a roof! However this surpassed my expectations. Decent sized room, very comfy bed. Clean bathroom. Best of all though, was the breakfast - you get loads: Porridge, cereal, toast, juice, tea/coffee - and then they bring out a big full English! Good location too -... More

Very disappointing visit. The staff were friendly which is really the only positive thing I can say. As others have commented in great detail this place needs gutting and a total refurb'. This is perhaps unlikely so selling the land for building development seems an equally good solution. If you have a choice - try elsewhere

Booked the triple room which was called the budget room. If you are on a budget this room fits the bill. Size of room was ok, decor was a bit tatty, bedding was lovely and clean, room was clean. We had a separate private bathroom across the hall, which needed some work doing to it to tidy it up. Breakfast... More

The hotel looks very shabby when you drive up and the shabby experience continues throughout the visit . The public areas are very retro and look and feel grubby , no money has been spent on this dark depressing area . The bedrooms are very depressing and dusty . The bedding and towels were very clean so this was a... More

Very dated establishment. In need of total refurbishment. The Superior room we booked was very dated, dingy and in need of a good clean. No matress protector, stained matress. Cobwebs and dust on light fitting. Tatty furniture, stained seating, grease on fabric headboard. Felt very let down as room was not cheap. The food was plentiful and value for money.... More

Usually when writing a review I try to 'BIG UP' the good points at the beginning, describe any shortfalls in the middle, and leave the reader on a high with the unique selling point at the end. With this review I'm struggling from the very start! This Hotel is located immediately off the main road that runs through Ivybridge. Our... More

Having an appointment in Plymouth, we wanted to stay outside town without it costing the earth. The Hotel is fairly unattractive from the outside but we received a very warm and helpful welcome and were swiftly shown our room. The actual pub area has, shall we say, seen better days and has a pervasive smell of cooking and ancient cigarette... More

Arrived as a single traveller to an exceedingly warm welcome. Swift checking with the details all to hand. Room was first class with a well stocked hospitallity tray, large kettle and immaculate bedding. As I wished to be away early (breakfast on a Sunday is a little later) the checker-in unexpectedly offered to make me sandwiches in lieu. The pub... More
