This property is now a holiday cottage for rent. Although our large party of 6 adults and 6 children enjoyed the holiday we felt there were a few touches that could have given us an overall better experience. The house is obviously lived in for part of the year as it was littered with personal items of toys, clothing, shoes, etc and most off-putting was the array of personal photographs adorning the rooms. 2 of the bedrooms were obviously dedicated to the Owners children with name plates on the doors. This made us feel very uncomfortable as if we were invading someone else's space. The cleaning company could have done a much better job as there were numerous cobwebs and clutter under the beds - it seems they only surface clean. The mattress in the main bedroom was a "sinkhole" and impossible to get a good nights sleep whilst sinking into the mattress - very uncomfortable. We paid extra for the hot tub, but it was very small and not all 6 children could enjoy it at the same time. The promise of a trampoline for the children was not forthcoming as there was not one. The outdoor patio was extremely dirty and it was difficult not to carry muck into the house. The house is huge and if you are looking to house a large party then this place is ideal. There were 4 living rooms and we only used 2 of them. The spacious kitchen/diner come living area is great for socialising.

Wanted to add an up-to-date review for this very welcoming Bed and Breakfast, in which we stayed from 21/9 - 29/9 . This was our second stay, our previous time here was in 2006 not long after they opened. Everything mentioned in the previous review still stands. We too stayed in the balcony room, both times and would recommend asking for it, as it has a lovely out look and if the weather is kind to you, some outdoor space. We stayed for a couple of nights the first time, but a week on this occasion and was very pleased with a continental breakfast this time with plenty of choice and much more healthy!
Would certainly return and also recommend to friends and family.

Booked this B&B after finding it on the internet. Alan very friendly when confirmed booking by phone. Place easy to find with the directions and map on their web page. Nairn is in a semi rural setting on the outskirts of Braunton but still within walking distance of the centre, so no car parking worries. There are two ensuite B&B rooms in one wing of the beautiful big house. We had the balcony room overlooking the garden complete with peacocks and views away over rolling countryside and the estuary.
The room was spacious even with the bed settee opened out to accommodate our daughters, the bed comfortable with lovely feather duvets. The fluffy towels provided were changed each day and the whole room and spacious ensuite with bath and shower over were spotlessly clean and decorated in modern neutral shades. A hairdryer, kettle, tea, coffeee and chocolate biscuits were provided.
Breakfast was served in a designated dining room overlooking the garden and we were asked what time we would like it, no rigid rules here! Breakfast is of the continemtal variety, with a choice of a large variety of different cereals, fruit, yoghurts and the most delicious warm organic bread with a large selection of preserves, honey and Marmite on offer. fruit juice, tea and coffee were also provided. The dining room could also be used if you wanted to bring in take away food in the evening.
WIFI is available.
You can store surfboards, wetsuits, bicyles, golf clubs etc in a garage if required
Andy and Iona are very friendly and a mine of information about local pubs, restaurants and places of interest. They have three young children who are very entertaining but are not in your face whatsoever.
Braunton has banks, local food shops, pubs and restaurants and also a good selection of surfwear shops. There is also a Tesco and Saltrock factory outlet on a trading estate on the edge of the village.
There are fantastic beaches just a few minutes away at Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe and many more further afield, a golf course at Saunton, and Barnstable and Ilfracombe are nearby towns worth a visit. North devon also has many , many visitor attractions. We were there for the beach and surfing but unfortunately the weather was not kind to us. Never mind, it gives us an excuse to return to this lovely B&B before too long, cannot recommend the place highly enough. If you are looking for a base in North Devon for whatever reason, then you can do no better than give Nairn B&B a try.
