We had waited some time to get to Cheffins, sadly it is not really good enough. The menu offering is relatively restricted and sadly rather boring. The food was only acceptable whilst the crab starter was insulting as the portion was minimal and not even that good. The main course was acceptable but only that, but the wines are outrageously expensive with a simple New Zealand house Sauvignon at £30.00 appalling. The coffee was cold and apart from the sole lady waitress the male waiters were cold and disinterested, that’s not the way to do it

We stayed two nights in June while attending a family wedding on the island. Initially we had a problem as the hotel was listed on the booking site we used as having parking....it doesn't (and the hotel's web site doesn't suggest it has!). But there is a reasonably priced public car park nearby (handy to have the "paybyphone" app if possible). The manager couldn't have been any more helpful though to put things right! He showed us to the room (Foresters). Small, but very well decorated with a smart TV, phone, wi-fi, safe, tea/coffee machine, bottled water and air conditioning. There was a newly furbished bathroom with a bath/shower combi set up. The manager then bought us a couple of glasses of wine to make up for the misunderstanding over the parking (albeit it is not the hotel's fault, but the booking site!). This we had in the small, cosy and nicely decorated bar downstairs. The view from the room wasn't inspiring, but it was certainly quiet being at the back of the hotel rather than the front (the road is inches from the front door!). From an access point of view, the room is at the top of short flight of stairs. There is no lift that we could see, and the bath is a rather tall sided one (mock-Victorian) which might be difficult for some folk to get in and out of. There is also a side entrance to the hotel which guests have 24 hour access to/from. We had breakfast two mornings running. A great choice with some classics (kippers, egg benedict, full English....). A selection of cereals and pastries. Top drawer! We didn't try the restaurant but, looking at the layout and menu, it clearly is aiming for top class. So, if you can get a room at the back and remember the parking, you should find this a great little hotel for a short stay.

An exceptional place to stay. Excellent room, excellent bathroom, fantastic dog-friendly bar and the food is super-tremendous in both the bar and restaurant. If you’re lucky enough to visit when the Eaton Mess is on the dessert menu then you really have hit the jackpot.

We stayed at Cheffins at The Beaumont Inn overnight for my husbands birthday in February. The room was the Castle View room. It was very beautiful and so comfortable. The bathroom was big and had everything we needed. There was a coffee machine that made great coffee. Tea was also available if you wanted it. There was a bottle of water and glass at each side of the bed on the bedside cabinets, a very nice touch. We had a view of Elizabeth Castle, which was lovely. There are stairs to get to the floor we were on and no lift. Breakfast was excellent in the morning although we couldn't eat much as we'd had such wonderful meal at the restaurant the night before. There was juices, cereals, croissants, full English breakfast and many more choices. We would highly recommend a stay at Cheffins.
