The Moorings Hotel comes highly recommended by guests for its comfortable and beautifully adorned rooms that boast stunning views, particularly its proximity to a picturesque harbour and local attractions. Its diverse dining options and inviting ambience contribute to a pleasant stay, though some visitors have noted that certain aspects feel a bit outdated. The establishment shines in cleanliness and service, with many travelers commending the spotless environment and the warm, attentive staff. While the rooms are generally appreciated for their decor and coziness, a few guests mention they can be on the smaller and noisier side.

The hotel is in a great location, it's a quaint fishing bay with beautiful views and the castle within a 2 min walk. Really easy to get the bus into town from opposite the hotel, we'd recommend getting the Liberty Bus app and buying tickets there - there's lots of visitor options to get good deals.

The hotel was stylish and very clean throughout. Our deluxe room with balcony was a great size and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfy and made up every day with fresh bottled water which was a great touch.
The bathroom was a little dated but kept very clean and had everything you need. The bathroom window did back onto housing and didn't feel quite as private as we hoped, but we kept the blind down most of the time and it wasn’t an issue really. The balcony isn't private and isn't particularly big so don't think it's a necessity when booking. When we visit again we’d be happy for a room without!

The restaurants were both very nice.
Breakfast at Maddie's was good although a little pricy. The Moorings restaurant was really nice, although again a little pricey but in line with other restaurants on the island and the food was great - dessert in particularly, we’d recommend the baked Alaska!
The restaurant staff were all very friendly but a little slow at times, however we weren't in a rush so didn't mind too much.

The reception staff were super friendly and accommodating throughout the stay. They booked taxis to and from the airport for us, but it’s just as easy, much cheaper and more scenic to get the bus (although takes a little longer).

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were made to feel very welcome from the start and were given complimentary champagne on arrival as the hotel owners were away and couldn't greet us. We’ll definitely be visiting again and staying at The Moorings!

I stayed in the hotel with a mixed generation family group and we all loved it. We had a wonderful welcome and superb service from the staff all through our stay. The location of the hotel overlooking Gorey harbour is stunning, the rooms are extremely comfortable and the one evening meal we had in the restaurant was superb. We were beautifully looked after all through our stay, and we loved the little touches like fresh milk provided for the bedrooms, and beach towels in a basket in the foyer whenever one went for a swim. I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this hotel.

We have been staying at the Moorings for our annual holiday for many years and can confirm that we're never disappointed. The current proprietors have made great strides in improving the offer in recent years. I would always recommend a front facing room for a stay of more than a couple of nights as the extra cost is well worth it for the views across the harbour. Also the food service in the restaurant and in Maddies is excellent. Because Gorey Pier bus terminus is just across the road you don't need a car as the service is excellent and it avoids all the hassle of parking in busy spots. However the hotel is sufficiently far away from the stop so that noise from the buses is not a problem. See picture for night time view from our room.

An enjoyable 4 night stay.

Tastefully decorated hotel located on Gorey Pier with wonderful views of Grouville Bay.

Booked single, sea view room that was well appointed and clean with everything that one needed (a few more coat hangers perhaps). The en-suite decor was out of sync with the room but served its purpose with the shower being a bit on the bijou side and a tight squeeze to get in and out of for anyone fuller figured than myself.

Staff were friendly and courteous.

Didn't partake in breakfast so unable to give any insight into this.

Overall a pleasant stay, however a couple of things.

The hotel restaurant has outdoor seating and if your room comes with a sea view, like mine, the noise from outside diners and patrons coming and going late in the evening was at times quite loud. Also, though no fault of the hotel, the evening entertainment at a nearby establishment was also loud and late into the night. Leaving the window open for fresh air was not an option due to both of these issues.

It was requested by the staff at reception upon my arrival, that guests leave their key whenever they left the premises as this enabled staff to know as and when guests were in their respective rooms. However, whenever I went to leave or whenever I returned, there was never anyone there and I would either have to leave the key on the counter and/or go looking for a member of staff. On one occasion whilst waiting to collect my key, another guest came in, went behind the counter and proceeded to collect their own. Not the best from a security point of view.

As mentioned earlier, overall a pleasant stay. If I were to return, would probably opt for a room at the rear of the building, to ensure a quieter stay.

Thank you so much for your feedback which we take on board completely. In terms of noise from the terrace I'm surprised it was loud enough in October to be disturbing, but appreciate we've had an Indian summer this year and there may have been some evening noise. The Dolphin does have live music on a Friday/Saturday night, but being a pub that will always have finished by 11pm latest. Our terrace is also cleared by then so there should never be any late night noise from the terrace as such. It is a pier and people will be coming and going, so I appreciate that some noise will be inevitable, but I wouldn't say it's normally an issue, certainly not to the point of not being able to keep the window open at night. In terms of the key situation, we do appreciate your comments. We generally ask people to leave their keys at reception so as to avoid them accidentally taking them home on departure, as that has happened and often they've not been returned. That's the main reason, but of course it also helps us to know who is in and and who is out. I must say though that I am most surprised that you found no staff around as we are in the office all morning, which is effectively in the reception area, usually with the door open, and there is always someone in the bar from 11:30AM until close, which is visible from reception. Being a small hotel we work on the premise that everyone can do everything, so a dedicated receptionist as such is generally not required. There is also a bell on the desk that can be rung for attention if there isn't anyone in sight. Taking account of your security concerns, perhaps we should put up a post box for keys to be dropped into. The intention is certainly not for guests to help themselves to their keys, so we will review and consider the current set up. We're delighted you otherwise enjoyed your stay, and hope to welcome you back on another occasion! With best wishes, Iselin

One of the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in. Everyone from the owners, front of desk and serving staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. We felt very welcome. We also appreciated the little touches - the beach bag, swimming towels, big bottle of water, welcome glass of champagne (as a Mr and Mrs Smith booker) etc. The hotel is in a brilliant location, right on the harbour side at Gorey Pier, with swimming, eating, bay swimming and walking right on the doorstep. It's wonderful to wander 50m to swim in the sea and then wander back for breakfast. We also booked a yoga session at the hotel. Pick a harbour view room at the front if you can.

The Moorings Hotel, Gorey, Jersey, is a lovely Hotel and all the staff are even lovelier! We had a wonderful stay. The rooms, bar, restaurant and all the public areas are of a very high standard. As is the food served in the restaurant, bar and the casual restaurant called Maddies (which is also the name of the owner's adorable and very friendly dog!) The owners, Matthew and Iselin were so welcoming, approachable and very hands on. Thanks for a memorable stay. Alan & Carol Weston.

This was an overnight staycation! We know the restaurant well and having successfully bid for an overnight stay in a charity auction, decided to stay to celebrate a birthday.
The owners and staff make you feel very welcome and the large bedroom we stayed in was just lovely; beautiful tasteful decor, very comfortable bed, room flooded with afternoon sunshine and wonderful view over Gorey Harbour towards Long Beach.
We enjoyed cocktails on the terrace overlooking the harbour with oysters and olives (so delicious!) before we went into the restaurant for dinner which was excellent as it always is! Delicious food and wine with attentive and friendly staff.
Breakfast the next morning was another fabulous meal to get us on our way!
Highly recommended.

We had a truly wonderful 5 days at The Moorings. From the first moment the lovely staff could not have been more welcoming.
Our room overlooking the harbour was exceptionally comfortable, with a large (6’6) bed and tea and coffee making facilities - including, unusually an expresso machine. Breakfasts were memorable and the restaurant was absolutely first class - the very epitome of excellence.
We can thoroughly recommend The Moorings, with no reservations whatever and we shall certainly return in the future.

Everywhere we went nearby when we said where we were staying replied "oh, they've had that all done up you know". It was worth it. We just spent a week at The Moorings and could not have picked a better place. We were lucky enough to get one of the rooms overlooking the harbour and as were were there during the heatwave, it was lovely to leave the windows open and see the bay.

The bathroom was a very good size and absolutely spotless, with a huge bath and over-bath shower.

We ate both in the cafe and the restaurant, and both were excellent, although as a vegetarian I found the options a little limited. Then again that's to be expected on an island that specialises in seafood.

The room was spotless, the staff were incredibly efficient and also very friendly. A great bonus is that they have a supply of beach towels by the front door - if you're going for a swim, pick one up and then leave it in you room next morning when it will be magically wafted away.

The only caveat I would have is don't choose Room 5 unless you have strong thumbs - the button to flush the loo is really stiff!

Treated my husband to a local staycation for his birthday at The Moorings for 2 nights. We were so impressed by the whole experience from start to finish! The Moorings is a lovely boutique hotel, run by a wonderful team who made us feel right at home. It's recent renovation has been done to a very high standard with homely touches. The 2 night stay was excellent value for money but still felt luxurious and special. We had breakfast included in our package which was delicious, would highly recommend the Scandi Platter! The location is just down from Gorey Castle overlooking the harbour with fabulous views. This is a true hidden gem in Jersey, we will definitely be returning ASAP.
