At the Glendalough Hotel in County Wicklow, we like to let the scenery do the talking, our team are here to offer a warm welcome and simple home comforts. The sites in Glendalough are at the heart of Ireland's Ancient East with the 6th-century gateway to the Monastic site steps away from the hotel. The colours and sounds of the valley of Glendalough change with every season and the Glendalough Hotel is well placed for you to enjoy all that this valley has to offer. The magical sounds and breathtaking scenes will transport you back to a quieter time of meditation and a closeness to nature.

The Glendalough Hotel boasts a spectacular location that many guests adore, yet the establishment's charm is marred by varying experiences. Though some travelers enjoy the dining and room amenities, others report understocked services and cleanliness concerns, with stark criticisms regarding the need for room refurbishments. The hotel's restaurant is often deemed overpriced, impacting the overall value for money. Service lapses, including inattentive staff and slow response times, add to guest dissatisfaction, leaving the hotel's atmosphere feeling lackluster for several visitors.

The Glendalough Hotel has been refurbished in recent times. It sits next to the beautiful Glendalough national park, where you can walk and hike. Gorgeous area. I can only comment on the food in the restaurant as I did not stay overnight. Lovely and attentive waiting staff. Menu for lunch was good, meat dishes, vegetarian option and a decent wine card. No fish option. Food was good. Restaurant is nicely decorated.

Hi stayed here with my husband for the second time.early Anniversary pressie.Bit disappointed with the room this time.couple of dirty marks on the carpet, really dirty window with took away from the stunning view.2 single beds pushed together which my husband had to lock together but there was still a gap not very comfortable.when you flushed the toilet it sounded like a fog horn very bad plumbing.Breakfast was an absolute nightmare we took a slot for 9 o clock when we arrived there was no fryed eggs or rashers people were standing around waiting for the food to arrive this should have all been ready.cold plates 1 poor girl yrying to bring teapots around and greet people arriving not her fault eventually Somerford reception arrived to help.when the food eventually arrived at different times it was cold and the eggs were undercooked an absolute shambles.when we were checking out we weren't asked did we enjoy our say very underwhelmed with it all.such a shame as Glendalough is such an amazingly stunning place but you can't think you can not keep up standards in hotel and people will return with services like that.

This has to be the worst place I've ever eaten in. We only had a sandwich and chips and it couldn't have been worse. The young staff were lovely and god love them. They were getting it from all sides. 4 people handed back dinners while we were there. Our sandwich was to be chicken and stuffing, it came out with no stuffing . There was no butter on the bread, there was one Mayonnaise sachet for 4 people. The bread was stale. Never again. I spoke with the Manager but it didn't seem to phase him. There are plenty of other lovely places around. Don't make the same mistake. It's expensive now to eat out the least you want to do is enjoy it. Not much to ask.

I dont usually write a review but in this instance I feel I should, as this hotel has so much potential with the right management. Booked a 3 night dinner B&B package for New Year's. The positives are the location and scenery. The negatives outweighted the positives on this occasion however. The place should have been buzzing for New Years but it was the opposite. Overall the place lacked warmth and the personal touch. Specifically: Caseys Bar/Bistro/restaurant was cold each day and evening. No fires lighting, despite bad weather outside. Customers were wearing coats and jumpers to keep warm having dinner, even though staff were made aware of the problem. There was a musician setting up in the bar on NY eve after 10pm but we were too cold to stay on and enjoy it or have an after dinner drink. The dinner menu was the same each night bar a small variation on NY eve, no specials. The food itself was average quality. Breakfast was very disappointing, very basic, and lacked the personal touch. Everything including tea/coffee was self service. There was no fresh fruit or pastries, just tinned mandarins mixed with tinned Pears, and a single bowl of natural yogurt, all edible but not a nice experience at all. The cooked food was OK but the eggs needed replenishing and were cold. The room (127) was adequate but lacked in places - no milk for tea, curtain rail broken on one end, only one pillow each (2 spare pillows in wardrobe had no pillowcases - this was rectified after contacting reception). Room service wasn't done over our stay. We were in the room when they arrived and we said we would be leaving shortly and would leave sign on the door so they would know. However they did not return to do the room. Also, we had to step over a hoover left on the corridor. This hotel, if standards improved, would be an amazing place. I hate the phrase rip off Ireland, but that was the dominant feeling we were left with. By way of contrast, we went to Roundwood Stores and cafe on two days of our stay to enjoy roaring fires, excellent coffee and reasonably priced selection of cakes etc. The place was booming and full of atmosphere.. and warm! Together with the beauty surrounding Glendalough Hotel, this could be a magical place to stay. What a missed opportunity by management here to have something special in Glendalough...people like us just won't return.

A Christmas present following Treetop Walk in Avondale. We were very disappointed with this Hotel as we stayed here many years ago and was happy with it then. The room was quite cold - we complained but nothing changed. Restaurant was also cold and menu was quite poor and expensive. Breakfast was the worst we ever had and that is not an exaggeration. The presentation was very poor. Scrambled egg tasted raw and sausage was awful so I had toast and marmalade. I could have walked on the filter coffee it was so strong so I settled for hot water. Overall, the hotel was grubby - staff did not want to hear our complaints - full of excuses but would imagine that is down to lack of knowledge and experience. Although this hotel has a captive audience with hikers and walkers it badly needs a complete refurbishment. In this day and age it’s a joke to expect people to pay high rates to accept this kind of accommodation and service.

Had lunch here. Was a busy venue but the food came fast and was delicious. Had the burger and the red cheddar sandwich. Large portions and a great cup of tea. As it’s a tourist spot and can be busy we were pleased were the speed of the place Definitely recommend to anyone in the area

Absolutely shocking service, dirty glasses and plates everywhere not a bit of work being done. Avoid this place at all costs. Ordered a pint of orchard thieves and an americano and waited 40 minutes…laughable. Got a sandwich for lunch … average . Sandwich couldn’t be toasted yet to my disgust felt toasted….STALE BREAD . Not to mention, everyone at the table said that the Guinness was the worst they ever tasted ! Will not be back!

Got 3 pints of drink poured over us. Obviously normal behaviour as we got no apology or asked if we were ok. We were soaked. We moved to a different table and the supervisor came over with menus to take our order again. We thought she was joking. Unbelievable service . As in bad service.
