As country house hotels go, Castle Leslie is up with the best. If I might offer a preliminary word of advice I would suggest approaching it from the south, using Monaghan town as a reference point, because the sineage travelling from the north is non-existent...More
Had a great stay in one of the village houses with greats walks and horse riding on site, and so many places around Ireland accessible by car. The staff really made us feel welcome. Village house itself was loaded with movies and treats for our...More
This Easter weekend break started so well. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who showed us to our room. While the castle certainly is impressive with a real feel of history, bedroom windows that constantly rattle in the wind (we used...More

We spent 3 nights in a 5 bedroom Village Cottage to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. Whilst not within the Estate, the houses are just a short walk away from the main entrance in the picturesque village of Glaslough. The house we had overlooked a green....More

The rides last between one and two hours depending on what you choose. You can have a simple walking hack, usually an hour, which is excellent for families especially with young children. You can have one or two hour walk and trot hacks or walk, trot and canter hacks. If you haven't ridden at Castle Leslie before staff will assess your ability before you set off, particularly for the walk trot and canter hacks or if you are jumping the cross country course. The horses are extremely fit and may be ridden a couple of times each day. However I believe you would have to search far and wide to find horses that are as well cared for. I have been riding here for a few years now and can't recommend them highly enough. It's also important not to forget about the staff who are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoy your visit.
It is possible to get a bus from Dublin to Monaghan. Taxi from Monaghan to the hotel is about 15 minutes and about 20 euros. Taxi back to Monaghan and bus to Belfast. Not the simplest routing. But, perfectly possible.
