Had my sons christening here in august , can't recommend the hotel enough, staff were super attentive and went out of their way for us. The room was newly refurbished and absolutely gorgeous, full of natural light and opened onto a patio which was perfect for smokers and for the kids to run around ! Food was delicious, we were... Stayed here for 2 nights as a weekend trip for myself and himself. The whole experience was brilliant. Honestly there is no need to step foot outside the hotel, from our room to our lunches in The Charter Bar to our dinner in Kellys Steakhouse, the whole experience was lovely! The staff are very friendly, the room was beautifully decorated... More

I stayed here as part of a business meeting, so first impressions were around the business facilities. These were generally good - decent wifi, AV, aircon, meeting areas provided. For lunch the food was fine if a little repetitive. Nice food provided on the first day in the meeting, we belatedly requested some tea and coffee on the second day... More

Super hotel. Welcome was excellent. Room was lovely. Food OK. Drinks a tad expensive. Pool was brilliant. Attended aquarobics class which I really enjoyed. Service from all members of staff was top notch. I would highly recommend this hotel.

My son and I were going to two all Ireland hurling semi- finals, one on Saturday in thurles and one on Sunday in dublin. We wanted an hotel about half way between and this was a very good pick. Friendly staff, clean airy room and great leisure facilities. We dined on the bar and the food was very good as... More

Just back from a 3 day break in the Hermitage Hotel in Portlaois. We picked this hotel for 2 reasons, firstly they had a pool which is a must when you had children and secondly because they had interconnecting bedrooms which meant we could all be together. The rooms were lovely and the pool couldn't have been better with a... More

Just back from a relaxing break at Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. It was great. Much of the hotel has been recently refurbished and looks so classy. The reception is due to be refurbished this September 2016. So i'm sure that will look awesome also. Stayed in a family room with a double and two singles, beds very comfortable and room nice... We booked this last minute for a family getaway. Portlaoise seemed a little odd as a destination but free rooms were hard to come by in the run up to a bank holiday weekend. They had a really good deal on dinner B&B and it included family passes to the National Stud and Japanese Gardens so we gave it a... More

Food was very poor. Advertised "chunky chips" they were cheap frozen chips, and either been reheated or under a heat lamp for a long time. The parking was not part of the hotel, which is ok if the hotel organised the parking for you, this is not the case. The carpets to the leisure centre were worn into holes and... More
