We spent about 5 days in the hotel. We found the food excellent, the facilities good, although not having wifi in the room but only in the lounge which is free, though) was a small minus. What was extraordinary though was the hospitality extended to us by the staff. A few times we came way beyond the indicated times for... More

Have stayed here before. Handy when visiting wife's family homestead etc. Enjoyed stay as usual. Staff helpful. Good breakfast and nice atmosphere. Rooms clean etc. Stayed 32& 33. Chowder , I didn't have, but person who did said it was okay but not as creamy etc as in other places. Given other great write ups a little disappointing. I personally... More

Called in for lunch. Food was really good and portions were generous however this lovely old hotel is in need of some tlc. It is almost 20 years since we last visited and I don't think there's been any renovation in the bar and lounge area. The hotel retains it old world charm so hopefully any future renovation will build... More

Superb food- great staff. Very reasonable prices. 2nd visit here was still amazing - menu has a wide variety. Beer battered haddock to die for! Caters for kids as well as adults and gives free dilute juice with meals. Desserts great- especially hot chocolate fudge cake- so light!! (Served with vanilla ice-cream).

Stayed here at the beginning of July and I have to say that it has definitely improved since I last visited in Feb 2013. The rooms are all being painted and modernised with new bed linen and I have to say they have made a grand job so far. Rooms are immaculate, showers great and the bathrooms very clean too.... More

Went here at weekend and constantly had to go to bar to ask staff to take food orders and ask for dessert and the bill each time. The food was ok. It wasn't bad but feel it should be better at the prices paid. The decor inside was very outdated and the tables and chairs were very low down and... More

We spent 3 nights at The Highlands Hotel in Glenties this week, and have resolved to return to this beautiful part of the country again, very soon. Part of what made our mini break special was the service, food, friendliness and atmosphere in this family run hotel. Our room was clean, comfy and had a great sized bathroom. We ate... More

Comfortable, homey rooms. Spotless housekeeping. Hospitality and warmth of owner and staff are beyond description--everyone there is either family or performs as such. Response to any question or concern is prompt and pleasant. Food is fresh and well prepared. We will return.

Eight of us stayed here in early May 2016. Great hotel. Family owned and run by Johnny and his 7 daughters (6 work at the hotel the 7th appears for music night). Rooms were spacious by European standards and bath was large also. Very clean and well kept. Comfortable beds. We had a double bed and a twin in each... More
