I was down at the West Cork Literary Festival last week when Aileen, a girl I met in my work shop recommended The Heron's Cove for a light lunch. The weather was exquisite and since she was willing to show me the way I jumped at the opportunity to explore the area and eat somewhere different. Our cars met at... More

The Heron's Cove is beautifully situated (as the name suggests) in a cove and has delightful views over a sea inlet, both from the bedrooms and the restaurant. We turned up late but could not have been more warmly greeted upon our arrival. The food was excellent and the breakfast the largest and best prepared that we experienced during our... More

Over night stay in Herons Cove. The room despite its size was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Highly recommend this listing. Beautiful views from the dining room and the place was easy to find.

We spent two nights in The Heron's Cove - it has a very welcoming warm atmosphere. Our room was comfortable and the food very good. However Goleen is an extremely quiet place with not much to offer. In saying that it is a good location to visit Mizen Head, Crookhaven and Barleycove. Be sure to top up your tank if... More

Great location. Very quiet and secluded. Not much happening in the way of excitement except perhaps when the herons have a domestic quarrel. The cove is particularly nice when the tide is in and conversely a mere remnant of its former self during ebb tide. The good food helps and the wine selection is well matched. There are plenty of... We visited The Heron's Cove with four children, they give you the option of them having half adult portions, which is great if your children love fish like mine! Lovely homemade brown bread is served before dinner, which was devoured! Great wine selection also! I went for the scallops both evenings! Devine!!!!

We were very impressed with this restaurant. Hidden off the main road. Every meal we chose was perfect, beautiful steaks and delicious fish dishes. The staff were very friendly and lots of local people having birthday meals there, so always a good sign. The views were stunning, you look straight out to the sea. Definitely worth a visit.

We only found this b & b by recommendation. Set in the cove on the banks of the creek, you can watch the tide come and go. Large room with balcony and great view. We only had b & b but, judging from the quality of the breakfast, we will have dinner next time.

My mom and I traveled all over Ireland, and this was our favorite breakfast we had! We are still talking and bragging about it. The breakfast area is beautifully situated with lots of windows facing the cove, creating an inspirational and warming atmosphere. Our host, Irene, was such a sweetheart and we loved talking to her. Great little place!

The hotel, Herons Cave, was lovely. It wasn't over-the-top posh but just right. We arrived on the off season (3 adults in late Feb.) and were greeted warmly by Irene. She, along with one house-keeper, took care of us from then on and they were great. Irene cooked for us, served us, played Irish Tourist Board, cleaned our clothes and... More
