We we're in town for a performance at the stunning Tennessee Theater and chose the Oliver because of its location. By the time we were fully in the door and had been greeted by the moustache-man and bow tie-guy, we were fans! Comfortable bed and nicely appointed, though a bit small, room. Don't miss sampling the barkeeps skills in the...

very clean and large room (king size bed), nice bathroom (too bad we did not see that they could provide small shampoo bottle because the one in the shower was difficult to use and required lots of patience to have enough shampoo for long hair - same with the gel). this was so minor. we will stay there again when...

I chose the Oliver because I was sick of the chain commercial hotels. I travel for a living and every hotel begins to look the same. The Oliver is a charming, cozy hotel in a prize location in downtown Knoxville. I stayed in a suite overlooking Market Square. Don't be surprised that the noise from Market Square comes through the...

We stayed 2 nights at The Oliver and loved it. Yes there are a few imperfections but overall this is a great choice for where to stay in Knoxville. Great restaurants are just steps away and the Speak Easy lounge in the hotel is so unique that it alone is a reason to stay at The Oliver. Our room was...

My husband grew up in Knoxville and graduated from UT, so he loves Knoxville. We've always been a bit underwhelmed by the hotel choices. Then we discovered The Oliver. Located in what used to be Kern's Bakery this fully renovated space is perfectedly located in the heart of downtown Knoxville, which is undergoing an exciting rebirth. The rooms are clean...

I selected the Oliver based on its proximity to the Tennessee Theater where we had tickets for a performance by Food Network's Alton Brown. It also had good reviews on TA so it seemed the right way to go. I booked the most expensive room, The Oliver Suite for $315.00 for the night including valet parking. It was going to...

I grew up in Knoxville and knew Market Square Mall as a run down urban center with little to offer, and often someplace best to be avoided. The past several years have seen a transformation of this area and The Oliver is right at the center of that renewal. My wife and I stayed here recently and were impressed by...

The Oliver Hotel is by far the best Hotel in Knoxville. Great access to downtown and Market Square in a historical hotel that has a lot of character. I live in Knoxville, but my wife and I stay here frequently for events going on downtown.

The Oliver Hotel was certainly the best hotel of our extended three week trip through the south. Everyone was so very nice. Front Desk, bar and Hksp. Deano was great and very helpful. The room was wonderful. Great bed. Bathroom was large and comfortable. Wife missed a shower cap. Towels big and comfy. Access to web was quick and easy....

The Oliver Hotel has to be the best hotel in Knoxville. It is a Boutique hotel located downtown next to the Market Square. There are many restaurants, bars and shops near by. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Also, the hotel bar is a fun experience. We stayed two nights for my nieces wedding and fell in love with...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the heart of Knoxville just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Market Square, The Oliver Hotel is an original expression of the city. Originally built in 1876 as the Peter Kern Bakery, the building had hosted everything from the Kern's candy counter and soda fountain to a drugstore, and dancing hall. In 2011, the property was renovated into what is now Knoxville's best boutique hotel with a style that plays tribute to the buildings history, while offering guests rooms with charm, sophistication, and modern amenities. The property features the Peter Kern Library Bar, a craft cocktail lounge; Tupelo Honey Cafe, an award winning restaurant; and Oliver Royale Restaurant, featuring a chef driven menu and bar. ... more   less
