Stayed for over a week with my two boys, age 12 and 10, while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. Resort quality lodging with hostel pricing! Wonderful staff, well stocked resupply store, and shuttles far or near. Boys had a blast trout fishing right out front of the resort. Never a shortage of fish to catch or woods to explore. Best stay... More

Great campground, the stream gently puts you to sleep, it is a beautiful place! We used the laundry and showers to clean up after hiking. Laural Falls is super! The resort owners were friendly and helpful.

Although the word "resort" is overly complimentary to this place, it is a wonderful property to stay at and visit. I stayed there with a group of 5 guys before section hiking part of the Appalachian Trail. The road to get there is very windy and curvy, but once you're there it's terrific. A perfect place to stay when spending... More

My family of 20+ people went here for a fall weekend. It was a bit difficult to get to, but thats expected from a good campground. The cabins were clean, rustic, and we couldnt ask for better lodging. The staff was friendly and more than willing to help. They even offered to stop working on a building so my baby... More

Let's mark another wonderful weekend of camping at Black Bear Resort! Great hosts that provide their guests with a very clean, safe place to kick back and enjoy the beauty of the mountains mean so very much and Mary and Bob are the best! Friends that came up to visit with us even saw a black bear on their way... More

We stopped by the Black Bear Resort on a recent trip to Elizabethton. The resort looks delightful. Beautiful spot by the creek. We were pleasantly surprised by the different accommodations, from cottage to bunkhouse to campsites to conference center. Trees were just turning. Looked like a wonderful spot to "rough it"

Black Bear Resort near Elizabethton / Roan Mountain, Tennessee ...A review. We just got back from spending two nights with our 512 kids at the Black Bear Resort in Hampton, Tennessee (near Roan Mountain). Originally, I planned to make the hike to Watauga Dam shelter. However, after stopping at the Black Bear Resort for lunch, I decided to spend the night at their bunkhouse. Clean, friendly, and scenic place.... all for a great value! I certainly hope that I will be back!

This was a spur of the moment trip and a lucky find. The road there can be scary, and you'll think that you'll never get there but you will and it's worth it. The place and people there are so cool. The resort is close the Laurel Falls a 1.3 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail that leads to a... More
