My husband and I needed a weekend away and this was the perfect location. It’s just off I-40 and is close enough to Pigeon Forge where you can drive into the area if you’d like, but definitely away from the hustle and bustle. We stayed in the Plantation Room. On the website it says it’s a small suite but it was plenty big enough for us. Mini-fridge and kitchenette, bed, and bathroom. We did the sunset cruise on Saturday evening and the owner was the captain. He was very informative and did a great job informing us about the area. The nightly desserts were yummy too! Get the brownie. :) I’d recommend getting a room on the top floor. It’s an older inn and we could hear people above us walking around quite often. The grounds are beautiful and offer the perfect view of the lake and the Smoky Mountains. Perfection. There are tons of places to sit and enjoy the view - a fire pit, porch swings, rockers, etc. Breakfast was good. They had a southern selection - biscuits, gravy, bacon, friend apples, grits, and eggs. They keep coffee and tea out anytime too. I also have to commend the cleaning staff and office staff. I managed to leave my iPad there and the cleaning staff found it, brought it to the office, and they called me before we were even home. They mailed it to me so we wouldn’t have to turn around. I appreciate that kind of help to customers and definitely makes me want to commend their efforts! We would definitely come back. It reminds me of Kellerman’s in Dirty Dancing without the games and dancing - old school and very quaint. …
My husband and I were greeted by a very friendly staff. We were checked in and given a tour of the suite in which we stayed. We missed the complimentary evening cruise but took advantage of the complementary candlelit dessert. Yummy and decadent!!! The suites are very clean and well stocked with toiletries. The best part of our stay were the views of mountains and the lake. Very calming and relaxing. The breakfast buffet was delicious and filling. Enjoyed the views from the dining room! Plenty of windows! We enjoyed our stay so much we are making plans to go back. If you are looking for a couples get a way , I highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!
No hot water 2 different times during the weekend, once Saturday morning and again Saturday night. Water pressure in the bathroom shower and sink is very poor. The Inn is nice and clean and the Anniversary suite was also very nice. The area including Douglas lake is great. Just disappointed in the afrorementioned since the room is not cheap, hot water and decent water pressure should be a given.
To start off these are the nicest staff I've ever encountered. I felt my room was small, but had a large bathroom, the water never got hot enough for me but I like it really, really hot. The hour cruise was nice, and the desserts are the best. Breakfast was ok, I loved the bacon. There is one thing that was a con the parking, it right off the road but traffic is busy and fast.
Our stay was quiet and relaxing. All the rooms face the lake with gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains in the distance. Each room has deck chairs to enjoy this view, in addition to a large deck with fire pit on the ground floor. Our room was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was typical breakfast items, but the evening dessert was exceptional. Definitely try the brownie dessert! The young lady working the breakfast was very friendly and kept the dining area spotless. It is convenient to rent a pontoon boat right from the Inn, and we explored the lake for the day. I only gave a 4-star because there are some minor outside maintenance issues that need to be fixed to bring this Inn up to a first-class resort.
