Detailed Reviews
We have stayed in the mountain view cabin in cosby numerous times, we Absolutely love this cabin It has everything you need to make you feel right at home and more! The cabin is way up and secluded on a mountain top With some of the best views In the smoky mountains!
The Management company was wonderful to work with, And very accommodating, The location is just minutes away from the back entrance of the smoky mountain National Park.
We have been blessed enough to be able to experience some wonderful things while staying here Such as some phenomenal electrical storms And even being able to see the northern lights! This cabin truly makes you feel like you are floating in the clouds Over looking God's country!
We definitely would recommend staying here!

I've been in my share of cabins all over the Appalachian area, we stayed at Caribou Pines......let me tell you, it was the best cabin stay ever. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was stocked with all the "extras" that most people forget (i've always had to bring my own salt....they had it covered) the seclusion was perfect for me and my boy. We will be booking again.

Mountainview cabin was exactly what we hoped for. The views were fabulous, and the location was great. It was very secluded, but we were close to golfing, rafting, and excellent hiking trails. The inside was equally impressive. Great rooms and a huge living area with vaulted ceilings. I will stay there again.

We stayed at Cosby Creek Country Cottage from Friday, 6 November to Tuesday, 10 November. Location was in Newport which was secluded and 50+ min away from Gatlinburg not 35 as the web site stated. Cabin was in need of some TLC and cleaning. The counter tops were cracked, refrigerator was making a loud noise and had bungee cords as shelf holders in the freezer, some of the utensils were dirty (we were not sure what to expect or what was supplied so we had brought our own utensils, plates and pots), the coffee maker was dirty, the washing machine had hair and dirt in it and the inside lid was rusted, etc. Since they charge a $65 cleaning fee I was surprised that we needed to clean before we could relax. There was also an envelope asking for tips from the cleaning staff which I find to be tacky.
I emailed (included photos and video) Cosby Creek twice once on Saturday morning and again on Monday morning to notify them of the issues with the cabin. I then called them Monday to verify that the received my email and was told they did not. I informed the lady of the date and time I sent the email and she put me on hold for a minute and when she came back told me they did receive it and what it said. I suspect that they made the choice to ignore our email. Any way she proceeds to tell me that they have not had any complaints and "We don't know if people don't tell us". To us this was an excuse because if you are managing a property, you should be periodically checking the property. So now they have been told and the solution was to talk to the cleaning people and let the owner know of the items that need repairs. There was no attempt to have anyone come and clean or reimburse the cleaning fee.
Over all the cottage was ok. The owner needs to make repairs and Cosby Creek needs to ensure that the cabins are cleaned correctly especially if you are charging a $65 cleaning fee. The location was nice and secluded but Cosby Creek should update the web site with the accurate distance for Gatlinburg to 50+ minutes.
One last thing... if a customer emails please send an acknowledgement email or call them. There is no reason a renter should have to follow up when there are issues. Poor service on that part and no attempt at a resolution.

Loved the Rivendell Cabin, right on Cosby Creek. The staff at Cosby Creek Cabins is excellent. Very accommodating. After an initial check-in date mix up that was completely my fault, Alan more than made it up to us. Thanks, all!

My family and I spent 3 nights at Cosby Creek in their American Dream cabin on Christmas Eve and we had a spectacular time. What a sensational cabin with every amenity imaginable. It's a 2 bedroom but the upstairs bedroom is a loft with an additional bed and has a wonderful view of a noisy little creek outside the bedroom! The noise of that little creek made for good sleeping and a nice view from the back porch.
Kathy, the Manager set-up everything and made sure the cabin was clean as a whistle. This was our 3rd. cabin in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area and by far the nicest! our seventeen year old even thanked us for a good time. Also, very easy access from I-40.
Sure, Gatlinburg is 20 minutes away but we drove there everyday and it was such a nice scenic drive that we didn't even think about how long it took to get there. There is a Walmart 10 miles away in Newport, and Dollar General is a few miles away and there are nice businesses and places to eat in Cosby. We will definately be back!

I was at the Elk Run on Cosby Creek, Eastern Tenn. in nov, 2011 for a weekend. Could not find this cabin look over for 2 hours. I call the number listed but no one answer. Went to the office and no one there....call the number at the office, no one answer....after 2 hours in Eastern Tenn. and Western North Carolina we found this cabin about 1/2 mile off the road.....Went in the cabin no heat at all....I call the number on the wall no one answer but I left a message. I received a call about 3 hours latter....a guy came out but did not have the parts to fix the heater...next morning he can back and by the afternoon it was fixed....after all this I call the office the next week about this problem....They will have to talk to the owner before....I received no call for the next month and I call back. The office report that they will give me a discount on my next visit..but would not tell me the discount would be???? saved your money and go to the beach...or go to Ashville NC.

All the Cosby Creek Cabins are built in a sloping row, creekside. They have different sizes and amenities. The one we rented was called Cabin by the Creek. It’s a one-bedroom cabin with a wood-burning fireplace: 700 square feet, with a loft bed. The loft bed’s on a balcony, there’s no door, so technically it’s not really a bedroom I guess. I looked up the real estate records and they say the cabin was built in 1993, which by the look is when all the other cabins were built, in case you’re wondering how old these cabins are. We stayed for four days over the Christmas holidays.
The cabin had good things and bad things.
Bad thing: After reserving our cabin over the net, they e-mailed us two credit card slips, on different days. One was for the deposit, the other was for the balance. Balance is charged three weeks before check in. We had to print out each email's attachment, sign, and return the slips to them by snail mail. This is the only time we've encountered this from a vacation rental. Why? They should not demand this hassle of their clients.
Bad thing: I called the 800 number to ask about firewood. The lady who answered the phone told me they didn't supply any. When I followed up to ask where I might find some, she interrupted me mid-question and said, "There are a few stores in town that sell the little bundles, and that's all I know." Long pause. Okay then. Bye. The company could at least include a few phone numbers in the cabin welcome binder of people who will bring firewood to the cabin for a price. We ended up bringing our own wood.
Bad thing: You can't see it from their website pictures, but immediately across the creek sits an RV storage lot. That was a surprise. We had a view of an RV lot from our screened-in back porch. Sort of cut down on the romance and the nature factor. We hadn't seen that in the tour video on the Cosby Creek website.
Bad thing: the fireplace damper handle swung frictionless after heating up. The handle's weight pulled it down. This resulted in the damper closing and the place filling with smoke. I fixed the problem by bracing the damper handle up with a shovel from the fireplace tools. Not a big deal, but looking at a crackling fireplace with a shovel wedged upright in front was a unique experience.
Good thing: we planned on staying four nights and were pleasantly surprised that they had a buy-three-nights-and-get-the-fourth-free special. So we paid less than we expected.
Good thing: it was rainy, and the creek ran extra loud. It's nice to hear the rushing water with a cozy fire inside.
Good thing: the property's adjacent to the Smokies National Park. I walked up and followed the creek into the park a ways. FYI, there’s a little pet cemetery right at the park boundary line (apparently on park land?) where the creek flows out. I personally think pet cemeteries are sweet, and I don’t mind walking through them (a necessity to follow the creek into the park), but other people might feel differently.
Good thing: the cabin was clean with a change of linens ready in one drawer, if we needed it, and eight sets of bath towels. Only one wash cloth, though (?). Lots of wrapped bar soap, no shampoo however. Bring your own.
Overall, we'd return again. It's a cozy cabin by a rushing creek, with jacuzzi, hot tub and fireplace. The price was right. I'm giving it four out of five stars, docking for the firewood hassle and neighboring RV storage lot surprise.

Stayed here for a few days while touring the Gatlinburg area. If you don't mind being on the outskirts of the touristy areas, this is the place to be. The Mountainview cabin was large, roomy and very, very affordable. You get all the amenities of a cottage or home and complete privacy. Closer to Gatlinburg, you're going to pay more for a dingy hotel room with limited space. This place, however, has it all.
Your approach off the main road is a winding stretch that has you going up, up, up. The entry to the property is gated so you and you alone can access the cabin. At the end of the zig-zag climb, you'll find a beautiful log cabin that is sturdy and relatively new (built in 2004). Off the side deck there is a hot tub that is covered and inviting. Inside, you have two very spacious rooms with king beds and plenty of storage for your belongings. Two full en suite baths complement each bedroom. The main area is open with a complete kitchen, satellite TV, wireless internet, A/C, fireplace, and a wide balcony facing the mountains to the west. This place has everything you need to be comfortable but away from the hustle and bustle. We used it mainly as a place to sleep and spent most of the daytime touring the surrounding area. Others, however, have spent honeymoons and holidays here, likely taking in everything the cabin has to offer for days on end.
These are hardly complaints but the internet connection was spotty most of the time, but that might be due to terrain. You could check email or slowly surf but streaming is not an option. I assumed that "grill" meant a barbecue was provided. It is, in fact, a small charcoal box and we hadn't thought to bring charcoal. Given all the other amenities at this property, a propane/gas BBQ would be nice. Lastly, we would have liked to explore the area around the property but with no trails and being on top of a mountain, it wasn't really an option (unless you're truly adventurous).
That said, it was a pleasant stay at Mountainview. I doubt we'll be back to the area again, having seen all that we wanted, but would certainly recommend it to anyone traveling to the area. If you'd prefer something smaller or larger, give the folks at Cosby Creek Cabins a look. Their website is comprehensive with countless choices. All in all, very impressed.

Thank you for inquiring about our cabins!
All of our cabins are smoke free properties. With some of the best views in the Smokies, our porches offer seating and ash trays for those that do smoke.
Please let us know if we can assist you in any way!
Did you notice that if you contact the office they could tell you the approximate location of the cabin. Most of the cabins are privately owned and insured and publishing the addresses on a website could also invite the lest savory type that may break in and
Vandalize them. Most owners only advertise through Cosby Creek Cabins who manage them. Comparing it to a hotel as the above person did is preposterous as hotels have people present in site always to protect them where private cabins would not .
