My fiancé, myself and our 2 year old son took our first family vacation together since our son was born, and we stayed in the Caribou Pines cabin in Cosby from 4/1-4/8 and we could not have been more thrilled with the cabin and our entire stay ! The cabin itself was nestled in the mountain and was so peaceful. It had a very welcoming and cozy cabin feel! Our son absolutely loved it ! And being only 30 minutes from Gatlinburg and Piegon Forge was so ideal ! We will absolutely 100 percent be back to the Caribou Pines cabin again! We absolutely fell in love with the cabin and the mountains!
I've been in my share of cabins all over the Appalachian area, we stayed at Caribou Pines......let me tell you, it was the best cabin stay ever. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was stocked with all the "extras" that most people forget (i've always had to bring my own salt....they had it covered) the seclusion was perfect for me and my boy. We will be booking again.
We stayed at Cosby Creek Country Cottage from Friday, 6 November to Tuesday, 10 November. Location was in Newport which was secluded and 50+ min away from Gatlinburg not 35 as the web site stated. Cabin was in need of some TLC and cleaning. The counter tops were cracked, refrigerator was making a loud noise and had bungee cords as shelf holders in the freezer, some of the utensils were dirty (we were not sure what to expect or what was supplied so we had brought our own utensils, plates and pots), the coffee maker was dirty, the washing machine had hair and dirt in it and the inside lid was rusted, etc. Since they charge a $65 cleaning fee I was surprised that we needed to clean before we could relax. There was also an envelope asking for tips from the cleaning staff which I find to be tacky. I emailed (included photos and video) Cosby Creek twice once on Saturday morning and again on Monday morning to notify them of the issues with the cabin. I then called them Monday to verify that the received my email and was told they did not. I informed the lady of the date and time I sent the email and she put me on hold for a minute and when she came back told me they did receive it and what it said. I suspect that they made the choice to ignore our email. Any way she proceeds to tell me that they have not had any complaints and "We don't know if people don't tell us". To us this was an excuse because if you are managing a property, you should be periodically checking the property. So now they have been told and the solution was to talk to the cleaning people and let the owner know of the items that need repairs. There was no attempt to have anyone come and clean or reimburse the cleaning fee. Over all the cottage was ok. The owner needs to make repairs and Cosby Creek needs to ensure that the cabins are cleaned correctly especially if you are charging a $65 cleaning fee. The location was nice and secluded but Cosby Creek should update the web site with the accurate distance for Gatlinburg to 50+ minutes. One last thing... if a customer emails please send an acknowledgement email or call them. There is no reason a renter should have to follow up when there are issues. Poor service on that part and no attempt at a resolution.…
The cabin was, overall, nice, with the exception of one bedroom. Upon arrival there was a massive bug infestation in this room. Bugs were on the bed, flying around and on the floor. The room was cleaned twice and the owner provided tape which I applied around the door where the bugs entered. I had limited use of the room. The rest of the cabin was fine. Asked for a partial refund and was denied. Tried to upload a video of all the bugs flying around, but could not download.
We stayed at the Spruce Lane cabin and it was PERFECT! Close to zip lining, rafting, and great eating spots: doc’s cafe for bbq, Trish’s Mountain diner for breakfast and many others. Not far from Gatlinburg too! We are staying here again in July! Beautiful view from hot tub! Owner Al is great and very helpful!!
Loved the Rivendell Cabin, right on Cosby Creek. The staff at Cosby Creek Cabins is excellent. Very accommodating. After an initial check-in date mix up that was completely my fault, Alan more than made it up to us. Thanks, all!
Pros- Location right on the creek. Quiet. Price. Full kitchen. Free wi-fi. Basic satellite TV. Ceiling fans. Some pans, baking pans, dishes, and utensils provided. (No coffee filters, salt & pepper, aluminum foil) Cons- Communication failures regarding check-in. Stained carpets, dirty fixtures. Ants in the kitchen (yes, it's a cabin in the woods and by a creek, bugs happen) Fridge leaked water. Couches are old and the supports are broken so they are really uncomfortable to sit on. Kitchen island served as the dining table and shifted significantly when you leaned on it a bit. Stools were uncomfortable. The picnic table was covered in moss and unusable. The firepit was in disrepair (used the neighboring cabin's) Plastic chairs were provided, but they were dirty and no cleaning supplies were available. Twin beds were no comfortable. (adults really shouldn't sleep in a twin, our bad for selecting this as accommodations) Towels were dingy and thin. The bedding was badly worn, thin, pilled, and the elastic was shot, so the fitted sheets wouldn't stay on. Multiple pillows were provided but were cheap, flat, and musty, bring you own. Not much sleep was had. Recommendations for the owners- Time for an update and a deep cleaning. Target and Amazon both offer towels and linens are reasonable prices with good quality that could be replaced each season. Might consider changing over to an outdoor carpet for durability and ease of cleaning. New couches or make repairs and add a new support board to increase the firmness of existing. Picnic table needs to be replaced and firepit needs a renovation and new stone surround. Repair the kitchen island top. The thoughtful touches were put in at the beginning, but it needs to be updated and improved.…
the people were very nice and personable . the cabins were good and they have early check in the creek is a great fishing creek in would recommend creek side memories . the only improvement would be to update the hot tub and other equipment
What a peaceful and beautiful place to stay! My daughters and I stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, and it was one of the most enjoyable trips to the smokies that we have ever had. The cabin was clean, serene, had everything we needed, including a hot tub and a place to roast marshmallows!! Will definitely be back!
We have stayed at Cosby Creek Cabins (multiple locations) several times. I highly recommend them. The customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced. The cabins are clean, well-maintained, and beautiful! The owners have been so accommodating, especially when I’ve requested a cabin with just a one day notice. And to go along with these amazing cabins and excellent service, you CANNOT beat the price! Etta and Jason
