I suspect many people considering this property for a stay will do so as part of their journey along the Natchez Trace drive. First the positive aspects. The innkeepers were very friendly and highly accommodating throughout our visit. Our room was large with a very classy bathroom and shower. However....the place is located on one of the main and very busy streets in town, meaning traffic noise in the bedrooms interfering with peaceful sleep. The pillows were foam and uncomfortable and the blinds did not block out the light enough. In the bathroom the windows to the back yard were only partially covered meaning lack of privacy. The breakfast, while plenty of it, was basically what you would fix at home and not the typical "Special recipe" kind of fare often found in B&B's. Just average. Most B&B's we have encountered have either a wine/appetizer type of offering in the late afternoon early evening evening or baked goods and tea/coffee in the evening, sometime both. The Inn at Bigby had neither. Considering the rates charged here, overall this place offered in my estimation, a poor value relative to the many other similar B&B's I have frequented over the years. Disappointing and I would not stay there again. I hope the lovely owners can make improvements to bring their inn up a few notches but nothing can be done about the noisy street location.…
The Inn at Bigby Creek is cozy and quaint . . . a great find! Decorated in French country style, this Bed and Breakfast is run by a marvelous hostess & host! JoAnn & Larry cook a fabulous breakfast which is different each day, and give their guests just the right balance of personal attention and privacy.
This is a lovely home with beautiful grounds that are worth exploring a bit--or at least enjoying in the evening beside the fire pit. Larry and Joann, the hosts, are friendly, helpful with recommendations about local eats and interests, and they cook an excellent breakfast. The home boasts an extensive book collection. The rooms are clean, very nicely decorated (like the rest of the house), and the beds are very comfortable. This Inn is perfect for a group traveling together (I'm told they get lots of bikers from the Natchez Trace), as well as for friends or couples. The Inn is five minutes from Columbia's downtown Square, which is worth exploring even if you are just passing through town.
I have stayed with “Aunt” Joann and “Uncle” Larry on and off for the whole month of April due to work. I’ve stayed in all 3 rooms, each room had its own personality and was great! The luxury suite is the best! They went out of their way to make me feel like I was at home. I gained 2 pounds while there. Each breakfast was unique and delicious. Joann and Larry are very personable and made me feel like family while I was away from my family. Would recommend this for anyone traveling to or through Columbia, TN.
"Aunt" Joann & "Uncle" Larry were excellent hosts, definitely more like family. Stayed here for two weeks with work. They cooked various breakfasts, each more delicious than the last. I stayed in the Tranquility Suite which was almost too comfortable. While there is no tv in the room, you feel invited into the living room without feeling like you are imposing on someone's life. I will definitely stay here again!
