We stayed only one night. The room was nice but looks like its due an update. Just old looking. The halls , all of them, were dimly lit and a little scary. We never got scared even after hearing some rooms are haunted. The building is very old but nicely kept and has a lot of little sitting areas to... More

The hotel staff was very nice and professional. Taylor Davis was a awesome valet as were all the valet employees. I took off a star for a cold pool that was posted as headed indoor pool, peeling bathtub bottom and no refrigerator in rooms. I had room 550 which was in a great location faced broad st. Rooms great size... More

My stepdaughter moved to TN not long ago, and we had tried one other downtown hotel when visiting. This trip was for her wedding, and she chose The Read House for her reception as well as one of the recommended options for out of town guests. The ballroom and surrounding areas were fabulous for the reception! As far as the... More

The lobby is just gorgeous, but the rooms and furniture were pretty darn gross. We requested a new room, and the room was just as bad. I will stay somewhere else next time. Front desk folks seemed uninterested in my complaints about the furniture in the room. Not worth the money.

Hotel is pretty, staff is very nice and in house restaurant, porter house, is terrific. 5 blocks walk to aquarium so great location. Parking is missing at this time but we parked on the street in front of the hotel and it was free and plenty of spots.

Very Quant neat historical place. Beds were awesome room was clean and nice. Good access to facilities. I will suggest contacting Ebony the Assistant Manager she will insure your stay is grand. We had a somewhat disappointing check-in due to young not very experienced front desk personel. I vented on AARP Expedia. It was Sunday check-in and if Ebony had been... More

The hotel was quite nice with very classic common areas. I was able to walk to various restaurants in the area, and the hotel is right on the free Chattanooga bus line which is great for getting to the Aquarium area. I did have a small spot on my carpet (I guess from a previous occupant) and they did not... More

Very small room and bathroom, air conditioning not sufficient, hot water took about 8 minutes to make its way to room. No ice machines or vending. I wanted a place with character; however, the trade off was definitely not worth it. Would not recommend and definitely is not somewhere we will return. We did not get what we paid for.... More

I have been here twice. The first was a weekend when the hotel had a wedding scheduled that I was not attending. I never knew anything was going on as the hotel was very quiet. Rooms are a little outdated but very clean and comfortable. Look for specials online to save on the cost.
