My husband and I came the day following Christmas and walked in to a beautifully holiday decorated mansion. We stayed in the Laurel Falls Honeymoon suite. The room was great! The bed and pillows were comfortable enough. However, the real show stopper was the bathtub. What a treasure! Two people can easily fit comfortably within (tip: bring your own bath salts if that's something you are interested in). The breakfast comes in courses (yogurt, pastry, main entree, and fruit). We were disappointed with the main entree, expecting it to taste more homemade and less reheated. We tended to go to breakfast later in the morning, so maybe that was part of it. The staff were friendly and accommodating, however, they were not wearing masks. If your comfort levels are more conservative, I would not visit here until after Covid-19. They have a nice selection of teas and delicious cookies. The location is ideal for those that don't mind a 20 minute walk into downtown. Our phones took us through the campus and we loved every minute of the walks. They provide games and books if you would like. Additionally, they have a great selection of liquor available for purchase. We had such a lovely getaway and enjoyed our stay!

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely inn on a weekend getaway to Chattanooga. The mansion is breathtaking in its architectural detail, the high ceilings, intricate moldings, parquet floors, and beautiful decor. It feels like Downton Abbey—-very elegant and luxurious. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. If there was a way to turn on either of the elaborate bedside lamps, we never did discern it——a minor thing. It was quite cool at night, and you have no way to regulate the temp. We found a blanket in the closet. There is a sizable selection of DVDs in the library and a DVD player in each room, but no instructions on how to use these things. Despite being familiar with TVs, remotes, etc. at home, we never did get the DVD to play.
The breakfast room is beautifully appointed, and the presentation of the food shows great attention to detail. They choose to serve it in courses, so one must be patient between courses. It began with water, juice and coffee, then yogurt, followed by a pastry, followed by an entree, and finally a very small fruit cup. No additional portions were offered, and while it was all tasty, it was a small breakfast. The first day we were there the entree was 2 sausage patties and 3 small pancakes. The second day was 2 small mini quiches and a very small portion of kielbasa. The fruit cup is beautifully sliced and presented, but ice cold out of the refrigerator, which greatly diminishes the taste of the fruit. These are just observations—overall, we were delighted with our stay. There were always refreshments offered during the day, cake or cookies, hot tea, and soft drinks available. They were generous with suggestions for restaurants and activities. The mansion has a lovely spaciously appointed porch on which to lounge, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped.

A Historic, well preserved mansion, plenty of free sodas, community microwave, whiskey available upon request. no in room refrigerator. Room was drafty at night, blankets provided upon request. The staff was quite pleasant and wore mask, most of Breakfast lukewarm, under the time. The dinning area was nice and spaced according to CDC guidelines, however, breakfast was often lukewarm and under cooked at times. Even after requesting to be warmed; it remained lukewarm, but to their credit, the food was displayed very well, with variety each day, except the parfait and fruit medley pre and post main course. The neighborhood was proximal to the city, clean and with pleasant neighbors. We sat on the porch often, board games and home videos were available. Iron and iron board was available upon request.

The Inn was indeed lovely, but attention to detail in service was much to be desired. We stayed 2 nights. On arrival, our room had not yet been cleaned. It was after the 3 pm check-in time. So we waited for a half hour on the porch so our room could be cleaned. The room itself was clean, but the pillow shams & spread smelled of dirty sweat and were yellowed from use. The staff had trouble communicating with each other on what needed to be taken care of and whose job it actually was. The breakfast of the first morning was good, but the second morning, breakfast was a duplicate of the first morning. We ate at Cracker Barrel. They were supposed to serve an evening snack on the second floor ( a note was left on the side board of this service), but the snack never arrived. The second day our room was "made-up" while we were out for the day, and so when we got back to our room that evening, I had to ask for clean towels as the room attendant took the dirty ones and never replaced with clean ones. I could go on with more detail, but the bottom line is, if the staff can't take proper care in their jobs, there are many other fine Inns to visit. We won't be back.

Love the old building!

The rest was just OK.
- Room shower had mold growing around the edge.
- With Breakfast in your title we were really disappointed with the quality of food for breakfast. Super hard (dry) eggs. Fruit and yogurt tasted like they had been prepared the night before. People working there were super nice.

If you are hard up for a place to stay near college campus, it’s sufficient. It’s glory days are behind it but you can tell the ownership is trying to squeeze as much cash out without putting in any cash to clean up or improve (chipping paint, stained carpet, etc).

Upon arrial we were greeted by Sabrina (a very pleasant lady) and she got us all checked in, gave us a tour of the house and talked through it's history. we really liked this B&B it is the 1st we've tried. We had the Laurel Falls Honeymoon Suite, we checked in the 4th of July and our anniversary was on the 5th of July.

The room was lovely and very comfortable we were excited but then the problem started. One side of the room had no electricity which meant no air conditioning and not TV. 2 Big Strikes. We reached out to Sabrina about it and told them we'd go out for dinner so they had tome to work on it. We returned about an hour later and were told that because of the new air conditioning units just installed the breaker box was over loaded and we'd have to alternate air and tv on and off with the room next door to us because both were on the same circuit.

Not cool and not the experience we'd planned for our anniversary. They offered to give us a refund which we accepted and we drove back home. Fortunately for us we live only 90 minutes away. We were both very disappointed.

We liked the place and may try another visit we were not offered any sort of discount to rebook at a later date and that was surprising.

We celebrated our anniversary at home watching season 2 of Hanna on Amazon Prime.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask if they got the breaker box situation handled, no power is no fun. Might as well...

My husband thought he'd surprise me with a romantic weekend trip. He booked The Mayor's Mansion. A week later (3 weeks prior to the date), some devastating news news and Covid hit our family. He called immediately and canceled our room. No comment was made by the clerk over the phone regarding a no refund policy. The date that we were supposed to go came and went. At the end of February, I was paying monthly bills and realized that we had been charged, not once but twice for this room (approx 475.00 each time). My husband called and was told that there was a no refund policy but that we had a year to use our reservation. Of course, they are still working on the refund for the 2nd charge.

The year of 2020 and 2021 has brought lots of change and uncertainties for many individuals and small businesses. As a teacher, I know first hand the compassion, flexibility, and understanding that we all have to have in dealing with the public. After the experience of being double charged, no return phone calls, and inflexibility on the owner's part, we have no desire to stay at this establishment.

Businesses can get some "Covid relief" through government funded grants; however, money strapped individuals who didn't plan to be sick and have to cancel don't have that privilege.

Before booking a room, I would make sure that you consult your crystal ball to see into the future because otherwise, you will be left with money wasted.

This is a beautiful old Victorian with lots of quirks and charm. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Free parking on-site. Breakfast portions were small and consisted mainly of fruit with very little protein, but overall tasty. Service was excellent. We arrived late in the evening and found complimentary water/coffee and cookies available for a late night snack. The Hiawasee Room was lovely and the bed/pillows comfy. The only complaint is the lack of air conditioning....the room was sweltering! There was a portable air conditioner sitting in the floor with tubing running out the window but this was not at all sufficient to even slightly cool the room. And, there were no fans to help. Would love to give the Mayor's Mansion Inn 5 stars, but honestly can't due to this. Planning another trip there in the winter and hopefully there will be heat in the room. : ) All of that being said, we would still recommend the Mayor's Mansion Inn.

I had never stayed at a B&B before because I like my privacy when traveling. This was the most enjoyable overnight stay I have ever had. The house is absolutely beautiful. We sat on the front porch waiting for our friends to arrive. We stayed in Room 21. Huge, comfy king size bed. The tub has jacuzzi jets (but I didn’t use them). Corner room on the 2nd floor offered a lot of privacy and quietness. Homemade cookies restocked throughout the day at the coffee bar on the 2nd floor. Breakfast Saturday morning was delicious. Started with a cup of yogurt with blueberries, then a cinnamon roll that tasted as beautiful as it looked, then 3 egg quiches with hollandaise sauce, and finished with a cup of fresh fruit. Sabrina (manager) has a hospitality heart and was so friendly and engaging. I will definitely return.

We stayed in the Tennessee room. The furnishing were antique and beautiful. The beds were so comfortable. The staff was amazing and were so helpful with anything we needed. They had all the little details such as scones in the evenings, and hot tea and coffee available all the time. My favorite thing was sitting on the veranda in the evenings, sipping on my tea and just enjoying the ambiance of the area. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is the struggle with keeping the temperature comfortable. It's an old home, and they are working on individual units for each room. So it should be better soon. This is a definite "go back to" place. If you love history, you will love the Mayors Mansion!
