Gorgeous little hotel completely hidden in Carthage, Tn - lovely rooms, great service and best of all we were the only ones there! (Except for that couple who arrived late and managed to scare the life out of me the next morning... ) Better than a weekend cabin - cute shops, restaurants and bars close by - we will be going back!

Staying at the Walton is an unique experience. The hotel was built in 1901 and was extensively refurbished about ten years ago. Elegant its own way, it is furnished with an amazing array of antiques. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the water is hot, or cold as it should be, the room temperatures are good. There is a balcony overlooking Main Street, and if you have a room on the front of the hotel, be assured that street noise calms down about 10:30. The staff is relatively nonexistant. To get in, you have to call the numbers posted by the front door, Then, maybe, Digger or Marie will come and let you in, or, maybe someone will call you back. Or, maybe, you can just wait.... I didn't care. I love the laid back feel of the place and will go back, if I have the chance. Just need to remember to bring something for breakfast!

Nice Vintage 1930's hotel. Please clean up before leaving to preserve for other guests. Bring your own breakfast as only honeybunns and little Debbie DonutExpress offered for breakfasts, a reminders of days gone past, worth the drive from I40

They have very comfortable beds and a eating area provided for guests as well. it was a nice and quiet place to rest and sleep. I only gave four stars as there was no room to really sit in the room if you wanted to stay in the room and relax. Also the lights above my bathroom mirror were all burnt out.

I had no idea this was a part-time job, family owned operation. Upon arriving at 2:00 p.m. the front door was locked. That's a first. The numbers listed on the permanent plaque by the door netted zero results. I left messages at all, disappointed we were unable to check-in, freshen up from our 4.5 hour drive before a party. We went on to the party. At 5:00 I left messages, again, at all numbers. We had an 84 year old that was tired and she needed to rest. At 8:00 p.m. a person responded to a number and we were able to then check-in. The place is quaint and clean but if you're traveling and need access immediately to a hotel, this might not be your best option. For the record, no one, at any of the numbers, had the courtesy to return my calls even to say "we'll be available to check you in at --". Communication severely lacks, or, at least it did the weekend we were there.
