This is what you would expect from a 1908 fishing style lodge. We had enjoyable conversations with many of the quests. Rooms were modest and very clean. Pizza upon arrival was very good. You must preorder the pizza. The breakfasts were plentiful and very flavorful...More

This place has it all: hospitality, history, location (in the hills but relatively close to downtown), a babbling brook, gourmet breakfasts, serenity & wildlife. We actually stayed here twice, both at the beginning and at the end of our multi-state road trip. Rooms were cozy/small...More

My husband and I stayed here during a week long fly fish and sight seeing trip to South Dakota. We loved the lodge, the scenery right out side the porch by our front door, the sound of the stream, the terrific breakfasts, and great hospitality...More

My family stayed at Hisega for 1 night, just because we had not stayed here before and because the pictures of the place looked cool. We were not disappointed. The place has all kinds of things to do, massage chair in the library room. My...More

Hi There... I own the Hisega Lodge, I am a new owner (as of July 1). I would like to know more about your review... I can not tell who you are so forgive me for not knowing. I have a couple of questions... did I check you in? The reason I ask is that I try to remember to tell everyone there is a communal breakfast but to let me know if they need anything different. Coffee at 6am is just out for you if you need it, it's not meant to be required, it's for anyone who wants it.. so I was curious about your comment on that.. is it weird to have coffee out for early risers? I personally have had people tell me they appreciate it. Also, every bed and breakfast I have ever known has not had breakfast choices... at least traditionally. I think some are moving into more of a continental style, but that is not our thing at all and I believe our reviews and website reflect that. I would say- Sometimes if you are not getting what you expect, all it takes is a little one on one communication, I wish you would have communicated with me because I would have been happy to accommodate you if you wanted to eat out on the porch or at a separate table and I would have been happy to make pancakes! Travel Safe, Tara
