I wish I would have read comments prior, I would not have stayed here! It was awful. Just before getting ready to retire for the evening, pulled back the comforter to find the bedding was absolutely disgusting! Grease and oil stained sheets (or something else) dirty comforter - in fact that bedding pictured on their website are the same, 20 years old and now gross! When we called the front desk for replacement bedding, they said they couldn't bring it up - short staffed. When I went down, there were two staff at the desk....so we had to remake the bed and the set provided was also stained! We also had to use the throws we thankfully had in the car, the blanket was stiff and crunchy. It appears headboards were replaced and wallpaper behind was not removed, as well as patched walls everywhere. There was no shampoo or soap available, just two bottles of hair conditioner. Towel were thin. The bed was hard, miserable - oh, and those strange pillows! apparently made of recycled plastic to foam bits for pillows. Not to mention, tacky signage in the room, if you would like to purchase them, they're $50. Also, another rude sign '$250. Extra Charge For: Smoking in room, Pets in a non-pet room, Kool-Aid type drink spills, hair dye stains, pizza grease stains!" ha!

I have been leary about reserving non- chain rooms without seeing the hotel first. The price was very reasonable. They have my dad a military discount, and the hotel is comfortable and attractive. I will stay again!

I wasn't expecting much from a small inn where we were staying just for the weekend, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! The service and ambiance was better even than some big-name hotels we've been to in bigger cities. The place is cozy, quaint, and has a family feel. There is free coffee available at the lobby all day, as well as free breakfast. The breakfast consists of cereal, oatmeal, and bread, but it's something with which to start your day. You can't complain when it's free! The staff are all so nice and kind, they really have that midwestern charm. The place is humble but nicely decorated and clean, you can tell they care for their business. They also have a chessboard and a little library where you can trade in your book for another. It doesn't get better than that!

It’s an old hotel. Very rustic feeling. Everything seems to be the same as it was since the 60s and 70s. However, I liked the rustic aesthetic. It’s really close to restaurants and shops. Perfect for your trip to Mount Rushmore. I would say that an update is needed ASAP but overall it gets the job done. The AC is powerful in the rooms.

This hotel is really beautiful outside with lots of flowers, but inside was dirty! Our room had numerous things that obviously had not been cleaned. The ice bucket was dirty and had no clean bag to put inside it and the coffee maker had old coffee in it from the previous occupant. The bedspreads were also stained and one looked like it had blood on it. We used our own blankets instead. The worst part of the stay, however, was that strangers entered our room TWICE during the night. We were traveling with children so this was frightening. After complaining to the night staff and morning staff, it appeared that the front desk person assigned numerous families the same room, so I’m sure the people walking into our room were just as startled as we were. Overall this hotel was seriously disappointing considering the good reviews we saw before staying there. Hopefully our experience is not the norm.

Let me start by saying the front desk staff at check in were delightful. That’s the good. The minute we pulled up I knew it would be a little jenky. Not sketchy, just jenky. They were however hoppin’ with several people checking in while I was in the lobby. Mostly senior citizens which we almost qualify for. There is no elevator, the lobby was very warm and it is in SERIOUS need of some renovations. It was quiet and seemed clean enough but there was no counter space at the sink for your stuff, no outlets on one side of the bed and the carpet has seen much better days. It smelled very faintly of old cigarettes as I’m sure smoking was permitted until just a few years back and they most certainly have not replaced carpet, drapes, furniture since then. The bed was so springy it felt like a bus with blown out shocks. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. There was half a dozen other choices in the same area, I’m not sure why this was rated “very good”.

The place is fairly nice and the lady who checked us in was very nice. However, when I got home there was a separate charge on my credit card for $20. I tried to call Foothills Inn and the person who took my call was very rude to me, would not even look up the bill in the computer, and hung up on me! So then I emailed Foothills and they never responded. I would not recommend staying here.

My Husband need a back injection at 7:30 AM so we decided to stay in Rapid City, SD the night before the injection. He requires a recliner. I called 15+ (yes fifteen PLUS) motels and NO ONE had a recliner. The Foothills did have a room available with a recliner. It worked PERFECT. Do not understand why hotels do NOT provide a recliner in the handicap rooms. THANK-YOU Foothills for having a recliner.

When I phoned to the Inn a few days before arrival, the front desk put me on hold, then seems forget about me, I waited in the line for more than 5 min, she still not get back to me, then I needed to phone it again. But the front desk on the day when we check-in was ok, much better than the one on the phone. We booked a 2 queen beds room for 4 people, but there was only 2 medium-size and 2 small-size towels, (although it has 4 big towels), we want more medium-size one, and asked the front desk for it, but she said she can only give big towels for us, no other size available in the front desk. There are some burnt marks on the quilt, it said it's non-smoking, so should have the burnt marks, maybe some smoke before? Aanyway, I don't mind so much about the burnt marks as long as the quilt has been cleaned. The sound of the air-conditioner is quite loud, making me difficult to get into sleep. The wi-fi is not very good, we can’t use it to see TV program, it’s stuck in the middle of the program. We paid about $100 per night, but the breakfast is disappointed, very few choice, no hot stuff, you can ask the front desk for a sandwich, then heat it in the microwave for 45 seconds, but the sandwich is limited to one per person. Beware that when you check-in, there is a $100 deposit (we slept for 2 nights), you will get back the deposit when check out. And there is $5 per night hotel fee in addition to the room price.

We have stayed here twice in one month and ---Nope never again would i stay here. Husband booked it -(he stayed here for a year while working out in Rapid City) Dirty, extremely Rude front desk, *No elevator if need one. Rooms are ok size very old, however the Bathroom --- is a joke.. ZERO room for a shower, tubs are so dated they are BLUE, toilets sit so low and so close to the tub - it's bad just bad, everything is wet while trying to shower floor needs your towels to sop up the water, cloth shower Curtin stops nothing. Very disappointed in what we paid and what we got.
