The Summer Creek Inn was fantastic! The location is perfect, our room first class all the way. Breakfast was sensational. David and Nancy are terrific hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. The hot tub in our room very soothing after a long day exploring and hiking. We will be back 😃
Outstanding!! The Summer Creek Inn is an absolute “gem” tucked away in the Black Hills of South Dakota. From the moment we entered the grand foyer, we felt special! Nancy and Daniel, the innkeepers, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home throughout our stay. Our suite was amazing - extremely spacious -- and the furnishings were truly impressive, as were the lavish amenities. Breakfast is a gourmet delight and beautifully presented every morning. I’m not a breakfast person myself, but I soon became one here!! The Inn itself is stylishly furnished: every room is artfully designed to be functional and comfortable, yet includes beautiful furniture, works of art, and antiques. The outdoor landscape is equally impressive, with amazing views of rock gardens, waterfalls, and several spaces for socializing or relaxing. After several days of sightseeing, my husband and I spent one evening on the lovely back patio enjoying the blue-flame firepit, the spectacular double waterfalls, and beautifully landscaped gardens. The Inn is ideally located close to Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument, Devils Tower, and several picturesque lakes. The Summer Creek Inn is truly a place where you can kick back and relax, and at the same time use it as a base to explore this historical area of South Dakota.…
From the moment you open the front door and see the grand piano in the gathering room with the french doors beyond beckoning you to explore the beautiful landscaped gardens outside, you know you have chosen a special place to rest and rejuvenate. We stayed in spacious suite 2 on the first floor with its king bed, fireplace, easy chairs, and sumptuous bathroom (the body spray in the shower was divine!). Hosts Nancy and Daniel are welcoming and informative without being intrusive. They also provide a most yummy breakfast so be sure to partake. The inn is quite centrally located to everything you want to see in the area. We highly recommend!
Summer Creek Inn was the most beautiful bed and breakfast at which we have ever stayed. The decor was luxurious and every detail was elegant. From the thick bath towels- provided in abundance- to the jetted tub, walk in shower, and fireplace - no amenity is overlooked. The breakfast (optional) is gourmet each morning and served on white clothed tables. From the interior furnishings to the ultra beautiful landscaping (complete with a waterfall), Dan and Nancy's Inn is a gem. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
My wife and I and our best friends have travelled together in the United States for over 30 years. Most of our stays were at B&B's. It is unanimously agreed by the four of us that this was the best place we have ever experienced in our travels. The rooms were amazing, the grounds gorgeous and meticulously groomed and the innkeepers/owners were attentive, friendly and helpful. It was obvious that Summer Creek Inn was their pride and joy. The breakfast each morning was optional, but after our first morning we knew that we needed to have every morning begin with a most delicious meal at the inn. We were there for four days, and each morning's breakfast was as flavorful as the previous day's meal. The breakfasts are on the patio which faces a cascading waterfall that was as peaceful as it was beautiful. The inn's location is perfectly situated less than an hour west of Rapid City, making day trips to all of the Black Hills's attractions and the Badlands an easy drive. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious; our 2 rooms were on the first floor, and each offered a patio. My wife and I took advantage of the view of the surrounding grounds and waterfall as we started each morning on our private patio with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The owner's, Dan and Nancy are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed our daily conversations with them, and they always eagerly offered excellent suggestions for restaurants and attractions. We strongly recommend a stay at Summer Creek Inn. My wife and I are already planning a revisit there with our children and grandchildren to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.…
This bed-and-breakfast is absolutely gorgeous and very well cared for. The detailed amenities for each room go beyond All expectations. You will absolutely enjoy the beauty of the Black Hills that surround you while staying here. Although I did not take advantage of the option to enjoy the breakfast that was made available, the feedback from other family members gave it very high ratings! My complaint lies with the treatment of the wedding guests by staff. We were not allowed as guests to have anyone come into our rooms other than other paying guests. So when the shortage of bathrooms became a problem we were not allowed to let immediate family come up to our rooms to use the bathrooms. This made it very difficult for grand children who have a hard time waiting in a long line to use a restroom. I understand that steps to have rules in place to protect the property may be wise, but there are always situations that require common sense and human decency in regard to treating others with kindness. The managers of this bed-and-breakfast fell short of providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere to guests and their families.…
The Good: This may possibly be one of the most beautiful places we've ever visited; the scenery, furnishings, and overall location are nothing short of gorgeous and picturesque. The food served both for breakfast and supper was delicious and cooked perfectly. Huge shout out to the roast beef and ceaser salad. The rooms are spacious with large beds, good sheets and pillows. The bathrooms are also amazingly well done. Truly must see to believe. The Bad: Booking the room was a struggle, had to repeatedly call for nearly a month before I could even get someone to answer the phone. The owners were constantly hovering around us the whole time. They won't let you go to the parking lot for a smoke break or into the house to the bathroom without watching you from a distance. It felt creepy and unsettling. We were told no outside alcohol at the event, but they only stocked a few tap beers and a small variety of seltzers, no liquor whatsoever. I've always felt that if you want to restrict outside alcohol that's perfectly acceptable but you should have a much larger variety to compensate for this. Despite this, their bartender was a really good guy and a pleasure to work with. At one point during daylight hours I was showing two friends how gorgeous the venue was and gave them a brief walk through of the house. The hovering owner then followed us all the way inside and told us they don't do tours. This left us all rather sour as I was literally singing the praises of the place before this and we were never told this restriction beforehand. The Overall: It's up to you to decide whether or not the gorgeous scenery and fantastic food are worth dealing with the owners acting like helicopter parents with a control problem.…
Wedding venue only had 2 toilets at the venue. Tent area was full and only sold truly the taps weren't reliable. Also no cell reception should be some sort of advertisement for that. Other than that everything looked nice.
Beautiful place for sure, awesome venue for my friends wedding. Staff prioritize overwatch for outside drinks. We went into the Inn to with friends who had a room there. From the Tent hall we were followed by staff and kicked out of the Inn for reason "paying guests only, no outside tours". 7$ for a Truly and that is the only thing they stocked besides wine and tap beer. (Horrible trouble with warm taps and head issues while pouring.) Plus only two bathrooms in Tent venue, with constant lines. Will be posting review on Trip advisor as
We booked this, as it looked like one of the best in the area. The hosts were just not that friendly, and seemed annoyed with us because we were not thrilled about putting on a mask again. Seems they had a covid outbreak a week or so before, which is unfortunate. But it was like they were still mad at us or something. As we left early after 3 days there, they didn't even have a to go cup for coffee, and did not seem to care. It was clean, and the one breakfast we had was good, but we had to pay extra for it. I just felt it was lame to have to wear a mask again, as nobody else expected it. We're not anti-maskers, and have had all the shots, and still got it. Just tired of all the masks and didn't like being forced to do so in a place like this. It's not like there was a big crowd there.…
