This hotel is cozy, affordable, comfortable and also hotel Staff and owner are very kind and generous to their Guests. This small hotel is like a treasure in the mud in the city. I recommend Governor's inn to everyone.

My husband, my children & I travel for his job, I’m very particular about the safety of hotels we stay in as we have 2 boys under the age of 2 years old, we intended to stay one night then continue travel the next morning but decided to stay another day! This hotel was safe, clean, comfy & the staff were so genuinely sweet! I will 10/10 stay here again if we are ever in the are. The hotel is very cute, if you’re high maintenance I would look somewhere else, if not this is your place. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the pool area is not the best, the tile is very slippery & the pool only has ladders up & down to get in & out. Despite the cleanliness of the rest of the hotel the pool area was lacking, is run down & wasn’t kid friendly. Overall great hotel. There is a train that runs right behind the hotel, if you’re a very light sleeper I’d skip on this hotel, however my kids both slept without being disturbed both nights all nights there. There’s minor flaws as there are anywhere, I think this place was fantastic in spite of those things

A good basic motel. Very clean and everything in the room worked. Could use some more easier plugs to charge our stuff. Wimpy shower, but hot enough water. One really good thing. We saw housekeeping really sanitizing all the rooms. Momma Rossa's next door a good place to eat.

The staff at the Governor's Inn are super friendly and helpful. I was attempting to organize a family weekend in Pierre and they were able to help me book the right amount of rooms on short notice and even helped me get one larger room so that my family could all meet at once to celebrate Christmas. All of the rooms were actually on the larger-size (compared to the cracker-box hotel rooms I've stayed in before) and, again, the staff was phenomenal at helping with directions, food suggestions, etc. Highly recommend!

A block of rooms was reserved for our family reunion, I booked a handicapped room 2 beds, groun floor. If not handicapped then for sure ground floor. I booked as soon as the rooms were available. When I arrived at Pierre I called and said I would be late checking in. I arrived to the motel and the only room they had was on second floor. I cannot do stairs, so I was very upset. After calling the manager, they finally said there would be a room with a king bed. 2 other people were staying with me so that room was not what I needed. The other 2 people had to stay elsewhere. The front desk person was not friendly at all & when the manager came he was very unprofessional. I was told by him if I wanted to go elsewhere it was fine by him. It was the weekend and all my family were staying at the Governor's Inn so I stayed in a room that did not meet my needs. I also asked for compensation for the compromise and was told to go stay elsewhere. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. I will tell others of my poor experience.

Very disappointed in our stay at the Govenors Inn this past weekend. The room was clean but in disrepair as the outside door did not latch like it should. Took many slams to get it to latch. Beds are very hard. Breakfast the two days we were there was basically non existent. I know it was busy, but from reservations, it should pretty apparent how much food to have. The first morning they were out of gravy for the biscuits, waffle batter, and apple juice. The second day they were out of biscuits, but had gravy, out of waffle batter, and out of sausage. The person working the breakfast was not concerned with shortage of food. Our heater stopped working the second night and woke up to 50 degree temps in the room. Also the keys stopped working the first morning locking my kids out of the room.

The management does not care if you get sleep.
They allow people to fill coolers out of the ice machine as early as 5:00 am. And if you complain they accuse you if trying to start fights with other guests. Then the bench located just outside our window was a party spot at 9:30pm which I again complained at 10:00 pm because the Manager didn't even notice cause she was watching tv in the lobby. She said she would handle it but ended up cleaning up a flooded bathroom next door to us and didn't get to it till a complained again. Just then the jerk night Manager told me to go back to my room or leave the premise. Then lied about how early he allowed the ice to be run that morning. He told me if I didn't like it I could find some where else to stay.

The hotel was a little run down but nice enough. Kids loved the pool and breakfast. Unfortunately our bathroom had a very large patch of black mold so we did not use it. Fortunately we had adjoining rooms and were able to use the other bathroom in that room. Staff was very pleasant and concerned when we informed them in the morning. Hopefully that room will not be rented out until the bathroom is fixed.
Update rates on the room were reduced by $12.

This is a nice enough hotel but for the price I would have expected more. At breakfast there was no plain creamer only flavored. The room had an outside entrance in addition to the hall door. The card reader did not work on this door however. There was also no privacy curtain so the room was either dark or people could look in.

The pictures of hot tub and pool and cost of under $100 for the night for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 teen boys) 2 queen beds and assuming a cot. We get there and the tolet wont stop running and kids rock paper sissors to see who was sleeping on the floor as a "cot wont fit in room" how do 5 sleep in 2 beds? (Checked price for 4... 20 bucks less for same room) Hot tub was a merky green color and out of order, pool had a layer of slime on bottom of pool and dead insects all around. Shower was hot. However, only given 3 towle sets and no one was to be found for more. Pool and showers fam of 5 -3 towels. Toilet is still running, opened tank to find black mold and 2 bricks in tank. I unstick the float and tank filled and stopped running. Wonder where to submit my pluming bill??? I cant imigion breakfast to be anything special to change my review... I would suggest skipping this one and pay a little more somewhere else.
