Great location, and could be good accommodations but a disappointing experience for our family. Their Airbnb description was not updated as all activities were closed for the season and Covid policies were not followed, none of that listed or communicated on Airbnb. There was not an option to check in without using the lodge and employees were not masked and a large party/fundraiser was going on without masks. No WiFi at cabins which we knew but we were unable to used in the lodge for WiFi because of lack of Covid policy. We went right to the host after checking in knowing that we could not stay comfortably with the situation. We asked about leaving early and she said she would process the refund but since we used Airbnb we had to go through them. We understood that Airbnb would just ask her so we could figure out. So we requested through Airbnb and then Deb changed her position and said no partial refund days later after we left. Cabin was okay, two beds ok, one bed was uncomfortable and bunks really hard (even for kids). Shower broken and empty trash under bed and missing many common kitchen items.

We have stayed here several times and really enjoyed it. Our last trip was in the first part of January as the weather forecast was good and we hadn't been up there in January so we booked it spur of the moment. We had a wonderful time and the staff there is so helpful and very friendly. The horses were in the pasture where we could walk over to pet them and feed them carrots which they loved. That made it even better. It is out in a country setting which makes it so relaxing yet doesn't take that long to get into Hill City stores and other tourist sites. We have stayed in 2 different cabins and the McGinnis house which is our favorite. It may not be for everybody but it is definitely for us. Thank you staff, especially Donna!

Needed a place central to all the activities, Rushmore, Custer SP, Crazy Horse. Deb, Mike and all thee staff were very cordial, helpful and knowledgeable. Our cabin was exactly what we needed for 2 nights. It was so good we stayed a 3rd night. Yes it was near the end of the season but our entire stay was perfect, quiet and comfortable. High country ranch was the perfect place for us. Our grandson had a great time visiting, playing horseshoes and volleyball. Would return in a heartbeat!

I'm not usually one to write reviews but this airbnb was probably the absolute worst stay I have ever had. First, their website description is completely inaccurate regarding pets. So if you are planning on bringing your four legged friends keep on looking. Their is no mention of a pet fee or deposit what-so-ever, and I assumed that since the place was relatively pricey to begin with it was probably included. Still I made sure when booking the property that I left a message for them indicating that we would be bringing our dogs in case there were any changes or additional information. So imagine my surprise when I show up and there is a $60 dollar pet fee... PER NIGHT... PLUS A $200 DEPOSIT. Now considering there is no cell service or internet nearby I couldn't exactly contact airbnb to ask what to do. And being cornered I begrudgingly coughed up the money not knowing where else to stay for the 2 nights. Before moving on I'd like to mention that we were not in fact refunded all of the $200 deposit. I cannot imagine why because our dogs were crated at all times whenever inside the property so how they are able to justify deducting an extra $60 is beyond me. Another issue was the flies, they do have a note upon arrival that it was fly season and a couple might get in the property. A couple was an extreme under statement, there were dozens of flies buzzing around the house at all times. And if they weren't flying around they were dead in the sinks and counter tops. The worst part of the entire stay was the cabin they rented next door to us. The 2nd night of our stay the cabin next to us held a party consisting of 25+ people (nice social distancing by the way). Their party raged outside until past 1AM keeping us up for the majority of the night. We had planned a hike in the morning to see some more of the beautiful black hills but having got little sleep we had to cancel it. What was meant to be a quiet relaxing getaway away from any risk of COVID-19 turned into a veritable hell and quite frankly we wish we had just stayed home. (If yo do book this place DO NOT pay their pet fee upon arrival. It is against airbnb's TOS for them to enforce this and they cannot deny you stay without paying for this. Had I known I would have never coughed up the money) (The host NEVER responded to any airbnb messages and I left several) (Don't be fooled by the pictures indicating that this place is secluded there are cabins very close on either side)

We had stayed here before and fell in love with the ranch and its amenities. Unfortunately we were disappointed this time around. Quite a few of the amenities were no longer available which in some cases were understandable due to COVID-19. The pool was in a state of complete disrepair and looks to be in need of a total gut job/replacement. Lots of unsightly junk piled around areas of the ranch. Our cabin was run down with hit and miss bandaid repairs. I would suggest the cleaning crew vacuum out the sofas nooks and crannies - rather disgusting. Will most likely look for another place for our next trip to the Black Hills☹️.
