Coming from Wyoming during the COVID season and trying a new campground that I just had found online and was appealed by the pictures so I booked for myself and three other family members. Although, the area is tight for a campground from the 1950’s is very historically and I find very neat and peaceful. The new owners are very attentive and if you need them there always in eye sight. The entire time my family stayed the new owners were working hard to make new improvements. Anyone who enjoys there fitness there is a awesome historic workout building which I personally loved, the trails are minutes away, and you’re in a location of beautiful beautiful Scenery. The creek that runs through the campground makes for a beautiful peaceful time by the water. The owners drive around and grab your trash as you put them at the end of your camp spot, bring you a fire pit, and come around with wood to buy. We had trailers for our four wheelers and because there wasn’t enough room by our campers there was extra trailer parking that was in a safe area. I was very pleased with the stay and we will be back. Full hook ups and you can even dump your sewer right there without having to load and go dump somewhere else. Huge plus especially waiting in lines in the Blackhills. My family would definitely go back and visit!

We chose to stay at this location because of its proximity to the Mickelson Trail and positive reviews.

The grounds are very clean. Nice pool, great laundry facilities, etc. New owenership is doing a ton of upgrades. Unfortunately lots of construction noise late into the evening.

My only negative feedback is that there is no cable and WiFi was not good. I even paid $9.95 for an upgrade WiFi experience, but found that the normal cell service was better, but that was even questionable. They are certainly trying.

There are several RV spots that are premium locations right along their creek. If we were to stay again, we would choose one of those spots.

We regret that the former owner left a substantial cable bill which prevented the company from allowing us to open a new account. We have recently been able to get 6-7 channels of digital service to the park and continue to fight legally with the cable company to provide service. Our new Wifi cost us over $30k and it is provided by SkyWeb who do over 500 campgrounds in the US. If you upgrade your are dealing exclusively with SKYWEB we provide the basic service and just an FYI there is no high speed internet available in our area, none! We are 1.75 miles from the cell tower and we have only one option to use a series of cell phone hotspots and as of today after adding additional antennas we are getting thumbs up from our guest! The $9.95 you paid was for 3 days and was directly from SkyWeb for streaming. We are working hard as brand new owners to correct years of miss management! We have invested over $250k since September in infrastructure to make a better park!

We recently spent 3 nights at the Crooked Creek Resort in Hill City South Dakota and were very glad we did so. The campground is laid out very well, such that there is plenty of space between trailers/RVs. In addition there is loads of trees throughout and a creek passes through a portion of the campground. It is well situated and well amenitied. We will definitely stay there the next time we are in the Black Hills area of South Dakota.

Accommodating staff although they seemed to be working for a crabby male manager. The manager was the only dark spot in a pleasant 4 night stay on a Memorial day weekend. The staff was extremely accommodating. We were able to arrange to have unexpected family members rent a cute sleeping cabin at the last minute for a reasonable cost since they had had a last minute cancellation..

Selfishly, I am reluctant to write a review of Larsson’s Crooked Creek RV Resort because I want to keep them to myself. But I have to rave about how friendly all the staff is, how beautiful the campground is, and what a gem this is among campgrounds. This is the first RV park I’ve been to where we could rent a double space with room for a 36’ RV with towed vehicle PLUS a 26’ trailer. Great for family camping! Every site is spacious and beautiful. The dog park is roomy and well maintained; it’s conveniently located in an area that is away from camp sites to avoid disturbing others.

This place is fabulous. The grounds are clean and well kept and the staff is incredibly friendly. They ran around delivering firewood and picking up trash bags even as they were mowing and cleaning. They have a pool and playground and little store where our kids were able to buy ice creams and sodas. The staff was so friendly to them and us! We worked remotely while we were there and had good WiFi. The kids were even able to stream Netflix. Location is great, close to monuments. And it’s located on the Mikkelson trail which was great for running and biking.
I always notice cleanliness in campgrounds especially because of Covid-19 and the facilities were very clean. Book your trip already!

the staff were warm and friendly and checked on you to make sure everything was all right. i got upgraded, no extra charge, to a primo spot so i was indeed a happy camper. a little pricey compared to what i'm accustomed to but in line with all of the other nearby campgrounds - it is a major tourist area after all. it was unusually cold and wet (rained all 4 days i was there) leading to my only complaint - the restrooms were unheated (or turned to the lowest setting) so, while the showers had warm water you had to do the really cold floor shuffle when you tried to dress after. the taps on the sink were the kind you press and, as i was told when you checked in, you had to hit the button many times before warm water come through, maybe they can adjust the faucets to run longer with each push. otherwise, it was a fine experience, now better since they evidently put in a higher grade of wifi (i had none) the gas grill and firepit with the covered deck were a wonderful surprise since i used the firepit each late afternoon. you can't beat the proximity to the trail.

I am so sorry we failed to point out that the South Shower House is not heated as only the North Shower House is at this time. This is only our second full season and have plans to totally renovate both bath houses so during your next visit in 2022 there should be no issues! Thanks for noticing all the positive improvements and just an FYI the rain which has been constant for the last month has really played havoc with getting the improvements completed. While the rain has been far greater than normal we have tried our hardest to complete our work and now hopefully before the 4th of July we will enjoy warm, dry and long days!

This is a beautiful piece of property. Close to the sites and adjacent to the Mickelson trail. However the sites are INCREDIBLY tight. Couldn’t even open our awning. Hard to maneuver our 35ft fifth wheel in and out due to the closeness of the other campers, trees and utility posts. Paid up front to reserve a “premium spot” but were told on arrival they don’t really have them. Nice people but as hard as they tried, they just don’t have the ability to accommodate big rigs.

I agree with too tight! We purchased the park last September and while. 90% of the sites are nice there are a few like yours that should and will be eliminated which we didn't really realize until this summer and there were also reservations for the summer on these spots. At the end of the season several of these sites will be eliminated. Please understand that there are only 4 of these sites where you were unfortunately placed and we plan to eliminate one or two and heavily landscape these sites. Thanks for acknowledging that we are nice caring people and we do have many sites for large rigs in the main part of the campground. Please come back in 2021 and see the continued progress in our new plans to correct problems in the parts of the park!

Arrived in the Black Hills on a Saturday in late April after long drive up from Austin, Tx. Crazy Horse Memorial was on my bucket list for that day and Mt Rushmore the following morning. Many campgrounds were either not open for the season yet or closed because of the six inches of snow that fell that week before I arrived. With temperatures due to be 19 degrees that night I knew that I needed to find a campsite with electricity to run my popup propane heater’s blower. Stopping in at Larsson’s at 5:30 pm on a Saturday it wasn’t necessarily unexpected for the office to be closed but I tried my luck driving in to talk to the gentleman walking two beautiful rather larger dogs down in the grounds. I explained my situation and in spite of the campground not even opening until May 1st they put me up in a lovely campsite, found the right breakers to turn on electricity for me on the spot. They were the owners of the campsite who were there with their families building additional shelters and readying the campground for it’s season opening in one week but they made sure that I was setup and warm for the night. The campground is on a beautiful site with a gorgeous little creek running through it with shade from grand trees and shelter areas near many of the campsites. I can’t speak as to whether their newly open Broken Spoke Cafe and Coffee House is related to Austin’s famous honkeytonk of the same name but look forward to trying it next time I’m in the area. Easy access to both Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore.
5 out of 5 stars for friendly accommodation at a beautiful spot even before season opening! Thanks again guys!

I stayed in my RV. The owners were EXTREMELY accommodating to every need. Pool was well kept & clean. Even though the temps were in the 90's, didn't have to run the air conditioner because the sites were well shaded. They offer to bring you a fire pit (fire wood is for sale) & a grill, if you don't have one. Camping cabins & Lodge are also available, if you are not in a recreational vehicle. Highly recommend
