Formerly Ghost canyon Dude Ranch. We had the pleasure of staying here for one week in late June 2020 and it was a wonderful experience. Matt and Jennifer were incredibly gracious and accommodative hosts. The cabin was very comfortable and amply supplied and if there was anything needed Matt and Jennifer made sure we had everything to make our stay comfortable. This place is conveniently located near many local attractions. It is within a 12 minute drive to Keystone, maybe 20 minutes to Mt. Rushmore and just a few minutes from the scenic Iron Mountain Road. Being here helps you feel like you’re getting away from the crowds but you are still close to everything. We woke up every morning enjoying seeing lots of wildlife on the back deck. I would highly recommend this location and would definitely return here again.

We liked our stay here okay, but the rooms need some major re-freshing. The couches had a bad odor, the bedding was not pleasant (old, wrinkly, damp), the pillows were flat, old and barely there, and it needed a good cleaning. Breakfasts were okay but below average. Used to be run by a husband and wife, but the wife is no longer in the picture and the husband seemed to be struggling to handle it alone with two kids.

We stayed at Ghost Canyon for three nights and it was delightful. The setting is gorgeous, Trevor was full of hospitality, and the animals were wonderful. We had a call from Trevor in the early afternoon of our check in day aski when they could expect us. We told him and he was there to greet us when we arrived. Our room was very clean and comfortable (we were in room #2), with a full bathroom, queen bed, microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. A delicious homemade breakfast was served every morning at 8am. The animals (Odie the goat, the two dogs, the horses, and while we were there there were six adorable kittens frolicking around) were lovely and made me a tiny bit less homesick for my own dogs. Excellent location, extremely close to the entrance for Custer State Park.

I made a reservation in January 2019 to secure a place for us this Fall. I provided all information (including credit card information) and made a $100 deposit. I had a few basic questions about the property and the services to make sure we were prepared for the visit. I have called repeatedly and left messages for a call back. The VM is usually full and not accepting messages, however I was able to leave two voice mails for a call back and never heard anything. I emailed via their website three times, and even tried a comment on a Facebook post, simply and nicely asking for a call back. It has been six months, and I believe I have tried at least 10 -12 times during that time to get a return call and there has been no contact from them whatsoever. At this point we want to cancel our week's reservation but there are no instructions on how to do so. I would not recommend booking with them as it is not clear if they are a legitimate business.

It was a dream fulfilled to travel with my boys to the Black Hills of South Dakota. We wanted to stay on a ranch and get to know the locals. I made the BEST choice by staying at Ghost Canyon Ranch. We stayed in unit #1. It has two bedrooms, 2 bath. A large family room with a fire place and a beautiful kitchen with breathtaking views of their rolling hills and horses! The beds and linens are top notch. Every morning we had breakfast in the main house with the homeowners. They are amazing people! No pressure conversations and just a friendly, safe atmosphere. If you love animals this ranch is for you! They have a goat that roams around named Ollie, a dairy cow named Tootsie and lots of kittens and horses. Our dog Bunky had a blast! Besides the main attractions, they showed you local lakes and trails. I’ve never slept better in my live. The fresh air, the space, no city noise. It’s perfect for families with kids of any age or for COUPLES. There’s a BB hoop oh and did I mention the HOT TUB? The stars at night were mesmerizing. We loved it so much that we missed it while out exploring during the days.
