I’ve always stayed in the heart of downtown Deadwood, however, with high rates due to Deadwood’s annual concert event, Deadwood Jam, I decided to book First Gold’s neighboring sister property, Travelodge, given the 1 mile-ish proximity to the concert, as well as the comparable low-ish rate. With intentions of going downtown the first night we arrived we were shuttled to the end of their property, aka, First Gold. Being tired from the drive & not wanting to deal with walking to the trolley stop, etc., we just decided to take a chance on the place & boy, it did not disappoint! The slots were looser than downtown (because I normally have terrible luck) &, best of all, drinks were free if you’re gambling! Now, I know that sounds like it should be a given but in the real downtown that’s surprisingly not the case. Not weak drinks either, they were legit drinks & the waitress was quite prompt (much unlike our Vegas experience earlier this year). The bartender was amazing & super friendly as well. We ended up winning kind of big (for us) & splurged on the prime rib & crab leg buffet the next night & it was SO good…I love crab & stuck to mostly that, which was amazing, but my fiancé isn’t a huge fan of either crab or prime rib, but he was thrilled to find out the variety of the buffet, which included a variety of chicken & other entrees as well. The wait staff at the buffet was beyond amazing & accommodating, especially when I spilled lobster butter all over myself. We ended up spending a good amount of our weekend there & can’t wait to go back!…
We booked a suite at the First Hold Hotel and Gaming in Deadwood for a 2 night stay. The room was like staying in in a 1 room apartment. At first appearance, the room made you feel as though you were stepping back in time.nice decor. The furniture was comfortable and relaxing. The room was well stocked including. Microwave and dishes. Staff was pleasant. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised.
Very nice place, clean, friendly staff, breakfast restaurant Great & fast! Lots of great casino games pleasant atmospheres. Staff very helpful. Far from town but trolley great! Not very often tho. Travel lodge no trolley! Huge outfall for friends
Clean, comfortable rooms. There was limited housekeeping for multiple days stays due to worker shortage all over but that didn't stop them from providing a clean, good smelling room. The staff was polite and very helpful.
My husband and I decided to get a room on a whim so we could enjoy more of Deadwood. The room was very nice and clean...loved the decor!! Also had all the amenities we needed... coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The staff were very friendly in the hotel and in the casino downstairs. Would definitely stay again!!
We stayed 3 nights here and had a great time. My friend had mobility issues so this place was just right for us. You can eat, sleep and gamble all with out leaving the hotel! Tons of things to see and do within a few miles in and around Deadwood in the beautiful Black Hills.
My boyfriend and I traveled from Minnesota and enjoyed a little 3 night getaway in Deadwood in early October. I won one of your 2-night packages online and added an additional night. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a crab and sirloin steak dinner as part of our package and 2 breakfast entrees. We chose omelettes with hashbrowns. All the downtown attractions were within walking distance from out hotel. We also enjoyed a tour with Above and Beyond Tours and a side by side rental from Black Hills Offroad Rentals. We also had old-time photos taken at Woody's Wild West Old Time Photos. Such a fun little getaway for us! On checkout I had a chance to chat with a manager and thank her for this little prize that we turned into such a great getaway! .…
Avoid this dump. First of all, this hotel is not as close to the rest of the entertainment district as it claims. Second of all, this is not a "gaming resort," as the restaurant is an absolute joke. The hotel is extremely dated. The elevator sounded like it was going to crap out while we were riding on it. The vending machines were loaded with expired products. We attempted to get breakfast at the restaurant, and we waited half an hour without anyone even asking us what we wanted to drink. When I went to the front desk to voice my concerns, Rheanna was too busy flipping through papers to talk to me. Then, when she did talk to me, she had her mask under her nose, and when I asked her to wear it properly, she told me that there was no manager working and handed me a comment card to fill out. I handed it to her, and she ripped it up in front of me. Then, another staff member got the manager from the gaming floor. When I asked him why if he was a manager Rheanna did not get him, he just shrugged his shoulders. Then, he started threateningly putting his hands in my face. When I asked him to stop putting his hands in my face threateningly, Jeffery pointed at the door and told me to leave or he would call the police. This hotel sucks. Do not frequent it.…
The room was very nice. WE loved the bathroom as it had a walkin shower. The counter was very spacious. The bed was so comfy. The restaurant food was excellent especially the prime rib steak dinner. The breakfast was also very good and reasonably priced The room had a leather recliner which was so comfortable to relax in. The refrig even had 2 bottles of water for us. The room had a microwave also. The casino paid out like all the rest in Deadwood but we love the older games they have.
We booked a suite that has a separate bedroom and kitchen area. Truthfully I did not have high expectations, boy was I wrong!! Everything was immaculate, clean and comfortable. The attention to detail is quite evident. This was the nicest room we have stayed in, not only in Deadwood but almost anywhere. Do not drive by, give them the opportunity.
