Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Food at Oggies was good and we had fun in the casino. This was our second stay at this property and we will definitely be back.
Our family only stayed for one night, but it was just what we needed when we visited Deadwood. Check-in was easy without no wait. We stayed during the Days of '76 and getting down to the rodeo was super easy using the trolley ($1/person). The kids thought it was cool too! The pool was geared towards kids and was shallow enough that we didn't have to be in the water the whole time with our 4yr old, just on the edge watching her. Nice bathroom facility in the pool area as well and fully stocked towels! On our trolley ride back from the rodeo, it was dark and our daughter exclaimed "There's an arcade?!" when we were getting dropped off at the hotel. I told her "No honey, that's a casino....kind of like an arcade for adults!". We never went in the casino area, except to use the cash machine ($4 charge) and getting change. Staff was excellent!…
I walk up and sit at the back bar. A good bartender would acknowledge you and say “I’ll be with you in a minute” I had to ask 3 times for a drink and he brushed me off for two of those. I ask for a draft and the keg is out so I got a free bottle. His only saving grace. Not impressed. If you don’t gamble, don’t expect to be waited on. Check in process was smooth. The room and beds are comfortable. I will stay here again. Good place for families.
We stayed at the lodge this past weekend and would suggest for any family. We have 5 in our family and stayed in a queen suite and it was perfect. Room was very clean and had everything we needed plus lots of space. Our kids really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We also really love all of the food. We ate at both restaurants and loved all of our food. Nothing bad to say about this place. It has something for everyone. Thanks for the great service. All of the staff was so helpful and amazing. Great place! We will be back.
The Lodge is a beautiful property on a peak in the Black Hills. The rooms are super comfy, furniture made of wood and not particle board. Beds & linens are soft and clean. The rooms are very quiet for being a casino hotel, good construction. No foot traffic in the area makes for quiet & safe surroundings. Oggie's Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner (closes at 10pm) and their menu selections are great. Unique food and drink that are native to the area. There are renovations to the hotel currently but you barely notice them. They are also adding a sports book in the casino. The casino is clean and has zero smoke smell. There's a small portion of the casino you can walk through to get to the restaurant if you don't want to go outside. We stayed with our dogs in a double queen, pet-friendly room and we really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of grass and outdoor areas for walking. The Lodge is also very close to a great hiking trail on Mount Roosevelt to the Friendship Tower that overlooks Deadwood and the surrounding peaks in the Black Hills. You can see all of the way to Wyoming from the tower.…
Stayed here for two nights for a conference. Exceptionally friendly staff and nice rooms. Entire property was clean and well maintained. Nice restaurant and a great pub with friendly staff and a nice menu too. Close to the main downtown by car or they offer a shuttle too. The conference rooms were nice too and easy access to and from the main hotel area and guest rooms. If we return we'll definitely stay here again.
This is a beautiful lodge, rooms very nice, beds very comfortable. Food really good,That’s the pros: Cons: No masks anywhere(which is fine with me) no signs for masks, you forget about covid here which is also fine with me, but when they tell you at check in there’s no housekeeping because of Covid, I just want to say really? How stupid do you think people are? We can walk around everywhere yet a room attendant cannot come into an empty room and vacuum, empty garbage, make beds and renew towels? The price for a room remains the same or higher with no housekeeping when you are here 3 days? We have to make our own beds, empty own garbage put dirty towels in hallway and go to front desk if we need more of them, not to mention when you are here for a few days the carpet needs vacuumed, next there will be vacuum cleaners in room. This is not a vacation! Now for the casino, we play video poker, there are probably 15 machines in whole casino with the worst odds on a machine I have ever witnessed. Playing dollars you get 30 for a full house….it’s laughable really. Machines are very tight and I guess as much as we love South Dakota, we love our gambling trips this is not the place to come.…
Best beds ever. Honestly we came for a couple getaway. It’s so nice that we didn’t need to leave all weekend. All of our meals here and it was a perfect little get away. The servers are the restaurants and bar were great. It was helpful that they have a trolley to take downtown.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were pleased with the room and the “walk out” option. I called months prior to secure one leading to the back courtyard. However, when we arrived, we were told the walk-out rooms to the courtyard were all taken since the hotel was sold out for an insurance conference the only one available was opening to the parking lot and entrance to hotel. That wasn’t optimum but it turned out ok since it snowed the following day and it was easier to load the car from the drive which was just a few feet from our door. We traveled with our pooch and loved that the hotel is pet friendly. Wanted a courtyard facing room for that reason. The casino wasn’t intrusive to guests not partaking.
The Lodge received 27 inches of snow in two days. Employees couldn't make it in to work, which left one waitress, one greeter, one cook, one desk clerk, one gift shop employee, a handful of snow cleaners and not much more. Despite the VERY short staff, needs were met in a professional fashion. The cook had to cut menu items, and dinner one night was limited to 3 types of sandwiches, potato chips and an apple. All was well with the world. Staff filled in as necessary. The dealer helped the waitress, who was all alone on the dining room floor. I don't know the waitress's name...she's from Hungary...but she was fabulous, great attitude, and one really couldn't tell she was solo. The customers were all relaxed, felt they were in capable hands, and I'm sure tipped well. Kudos to all the employees who kept the Lodge running well on a shoestring. Very good employee service. ...…
