I was in town for business for three nights and everybody who asked where I was staying was glad to hear I was at Northern Lights. This place was exceptionally clean!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. This place has a lot of charm to it. They have a very basic breakfast, but quite sufficient. There is also a full bar, so if you want a nightcap or two, just ask the front desk and they will serve it right up for you.

My room was large and very comfortable. The price was fair.

I'm going to be back in town later in the year and look forward to staying at Northern Lights Inn again!

The rooms are updated, super clean. The service is friendly. The breakfast area is clean, where you can get toast, ceral, muffins, waffels and some burritos to micorwave. There is also a self serve bar. You can also walk to the local Kreemee where they have delish ice cream and food.

We found our stay at the Northern Lights Inn one of the best experiences our on trip. The staff was helpful and polite. Traveling with teenagers, we were all treated with respect by the staff and the manager. The room was comfortable and properly maintained. The grounds were clean, and the breakfast area met all of our needs. I would stay here again, and I would recommend it to others!

I came to town for my Grandfather's funeral. After a long and emotional day, I came back to Northern Lights to rest. Instead of resting, I was unlucky enough to hear the receptionist speaking loudly on the phone about some family members that got lost trying to get to us and support us in our time of need. Were the words helpful? No!

In fact, I heard the staff say that they gave the wrong directions but they would charge for the room anyway...why not, it wasn't her fault that they "can't speak English." When confronted about the horrible conversation, we were lied to. When trying to resolve things with the manager, we were told that there was no way to return funds or compensate for their "stellar" service.

So if you're in Britton and looking for a place to stay, my recommendation is drive past Northern Lights!

And to Northern Lights...I hope that it feels good to you to know that you sacrificed service to your patrons for an incompetent and intolerant staff. I wish you the same experience!

Very impressed with helpful staff and clean rooms. Being hunters we arrived to Britton early around 9 am, I was told that check in was not until 3 pm but they would try to get my room ready as soon as they can. They called around 11 to let us know they got it ready. They don't allow your dogs to go in your room but they do have a room behind the desk that they let you keep your dog if it's in a kennel at no extra cost. They have a game cleaning shed right behind the hotel. Will be duck hunting in this area again, they don't know what they have.

I stayed in this hotel recently, and was a little bit leery, because of the poor trip advisor reviews. However, the stay was worse than I expected. Although the front desk and cleaning ladies were both incredibly nice, I was completely put off by their mandatory cleaning policy & lack of green initiative.

I would like to start off by saying that I am a seasoned traveler, having stayed at avariety of hotels (from small motel-like hotels to 5-star resorts). I have stayed all over the world, and I would say that this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Having traveled all day before arriving, I thought that I could spend the next morning and early afternoon lounging and resting. There were no "do not disturb" signs, so naturally, the girls woke me up to clean my room. When I tried to decline, they said it was against policy not to clean the room. I logically explained that I just got in the night before, and I was still using the bed that they insisted on stripping and remaking.

It is incredibly awkward and irritating to stand by while someone cleans your room while you are in it. I also felt that it was ridiculous that they insisted on completely stripping my bed and putting on fresh sheets (since I planned on crawling back in). They also threw away my bar of soap and gave me a new one. How wasteful. The girls seemed apologetic, and told me that if I had any concerns, I could speak with the manager, who was sitting at the front desk. And I did, much to my own dismay.

I was appalled at the manager. Not only did she continuously interrupt me while I tried to plead my case that this was not stellar customer service. She also said that most hotels are uneducated and the green initiative is leading to infestations. Basically implying that by not cleaning my bed, I would lead to an outbreak of some sort. (It's not like I'm carrying around anthrax or some other agent of biological terror in my back pocket). Pretty offensive, really. Not to mention that she basically appeared to question my intelligence by disputing my desire to use bedding for 2 days in a row. When I told her that this is why she has negative reviews on trip advisor, and why she has unsatisfied guests, she actually said "we've been open for 8 years, I could care less about 4 bad reviews on trip advisor." That is disheartening to me that she couldn't care less about my experience. I was a paying guest. And caring about the perception and comfort of your guests should be your #1 initiative. Needless to say, I will probably never be back.

Additionally:
--I had to request an iron and ironing board from the front desk (a normal amenity in most hotel rooms). And there was mildewy water that someone else had previously left in the thing that left my clothes smelling funny.
--Breakfast is definitely adequate. Toast and cold cereal. My only recommendation to owners would be a waffle maker. They are inexpensive and would add much satisfaction to the breakfast options.
--Housekeeping should be an optional feature that is always offered, but something that someone can refuse if it is an inconvenience.

I will say, the room itself was nice and appropriately priced. The front desk attendants and housekeepers were very friendly. I just wish the manager got off her high horse and listened for a change. I'm sure this review will make no difference to her, but hopefully others will be aware of what they are getting into before they arrive.

I spent a couple of night at the Northern Lights Hotel and found it not family friendly experience. When I had a complaint for the front desk they referred me to the “Manager” who apparently never received customer service training. The manager was condescending and rude, so I asked if there was a way to leave a comment for the owner of the hotel and was told she was the only person that I could leave a comment with. How convenient? Upon check out I noticed I had been charge for four adults in the room so I brought it to the “Managers” attention that there were only two adults and two children staying in the room, I was rudely told that they charge children as adults as a way to keep the cost down for business travelers. Forgive me for asking, I was unaware that my 2 year old and 4 month old were considered adults, way to pass the buck onto families and act like it is a huge inconvenience to be asked about your crooked policy. Over all I would say stay at another hotel in town even the next it is not worth the hassle. The owner should take a moment and realize how their management should treat their customers with respect, honesty, and dignity instead of driving customers away.
Finally, to the “Manager” please seek out some customer service training; you may want to start with the 100% Satisfaction mission statement documented in each room. What a crock!!! You’ve signed your name to something you won’t even buy into.

Honestly wasn't expected much for such a small town, but this was a lovely little hotel, with clean and comfortable rooms. It looks new, with a nice flat screen tv in the rooms. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was pretty sparse but the nice rooms more than made up for that.

i drive truck for a living and stay at many hotels throughout my travels. Not once has someone gone out of their way to find me a room to stay, However the young girl working the desk at the hotel asked where i was headed, looked the route up on map quest then proceeded to call the nearest hotel to ensure i would have a room waiting for me when i arrived.

This was our 2nd visit to this property. Both times the staff been cheerful, friendly and anxious to please. Our rooms have been very clean and well maintained. We were able to use the breakfast room for a late night family gathering. For less than $80 per night, it offers all the amenities one needs for a visit to this area. An additional charge for cot or crib is almost an industry standard.

Yes, breakfast is lacking, especially with no restaurant in Britton open Sundays for breakfast, but I have seen worse or none (and we travel frequently in the US and internationally). We brought in additional foods & beverages for breakfast but what they provide alone is a decent start until you can get somewhere for a hot meal.
