Detailed Reviews
When I arrived at Crooked Tree Cottage I was in the first few days of a month long trip to regroup and unwind from a stressful, quarantine year. I stepped out of my car to warm air filled with the fragrance of the jasmine blooming all around. The home itself, as well as its hosts welcomed me in. When you make these reservations you never quite know what to expect, but this place was a pleasant surprise! My room was spacious and impeccably clean. The bed was comfy. I slept so well. This spot will remain on my favorites list! Thank you Carol for a lovely start to my south bound trip!!

Excellent hospitality and privacy. It was a terrific experience throughout our weekend getaway. I would certainly recommend to others, and we look forward to booking with Carol again. Great hosts and location. The property is well-kept, with clean linens.

We had a condo booked for my birthday, and the owner called and said there were water issues so we booked the sandollar room a week in advance after I discovered it now has a private bath. It was the last room available. The room is cute, and very clean, but the private bath is across the hall not ensuite. There is a full window inside the shower, the bottom has frosted film on it, the top does not. If you arent tall this would not be a problem, but being a tall woman, I had to shower stooped over. The body wash and lotion provided is wonderful. There is no ac control in room, so it was hot everynight. The site said the beach is apx. .5 mi away, and I was told we could ride over on bikes provided, there is no bike lane, and it is apx .5 to the island, but more to get to public beach. The chairs provided were very nice. There is a mini fridge for guest, we ate a wonderful lunch, then a wonderful huge supper, and couldnt finish so we brought it back and put it in the mini fridge. The next day we asked to use the microwave to heat our steaks, but we were told no, no, she was not comfortable with that, so no... I have stayed in many b and b and this is a total first for me. Most bed and breakfast have coffee, tea or something avaliable all day, and a microwave avaliable, but not this one. It was ok, it suited its purpose, but no, I wont stay again...

A nice quiet street wonderful breakfasts and good hospitality. This place is comfortable and reasonable and centrally located. the only possible negative was the shower water pressure was a little low, but at these prices who cares!

We just got home from a trip to South Carolina. When I saw Crooked Tree's website I knew we had to book for a few days. Carol met us and showed us to a spacious room with private bath. Our stay was wonderful with fabulous breakfasts, short jaunt to the beach, proximity to great eateries and a helpful host. Would definitely return if in the area and recommend to anyone travelling that way. Carol treats her guests the way she would like to be treated.....a recipe for success!

My wife and I were delighted to have discovered this B&B for our recent visit and can't wait to find another weekend for a return trip. The Crooked Tree Cottage is everything noted in previous reviews: artfully renovated home, very comfortable rooms, great host, and fabulous breakfasts. The only thing that I would add is that it is also perfectly situated to what I think are the best parts of South Carolina's Grand Strand - Huntington Beach, Murrells Inlet, Brookgreen Gardens, Georgetown, and Pawleys Island.

The Crooked Tree is a sweet little guest cottage near the beach in Pawley's Island.
The owner, Carol, is a delight and a brilliant cook. Her breakfasts were mind blowing (the bacon especially....) -- we took our breakfast on the screened area in the back garden. It was a real treat.
The place is quaint, private and nestled in the woods not far from the beach -- which incidentally was amazing. The water was great and the beach in this area is primarily used by island "residents" as there are (thankfully) no large hotels around.
We used the Crooked Tree beach bikes to make our way down.
The bedrooms were spacious and the beds particularity comfortable.
This is not your typical B&B, its homey and unique and not overly fussy.
We checked out other properties in the area (the Litchfield for example) and we were WAAYY happy that we chose Crooked Tree.

We had a good visit to Pawleys Island and owner, Carol, made sure we had a good breakfast every am. She can work with you if you are headed out early for an activity and want breakfast at a certain time. She gave us some great suggestions on places to see and restaurants to go to. The B&B is pretty close to the beach and its a five-minute drive over to a public parking area that offered beach access. It's also a quick bike ride over. We found the location to be very close to a variety of shops and restaurants as well as site seeing venues like Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach. The Internet speed I experienced wasn't the fastest but I'm on vacation and shouldn't be on the Internet alot anyway LOL. It didn't cause any issues for us. The Crooked Cottage is worth staying at ;-)

We had such a wonderful time at The Crooked Tree Cottage. Carol was such a gracious hostess! Even when we had to get up at 6:00 AM to run a race in Georgetown, she insisted on getting up and setting out coffee, the most delicious muffins, and juice for us. Our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast on our second day was amazing as well! We look forward to making this a regular visit each October.
