Caveat Emptor Looking to find the perfect venue to bring together our family for a Christmas celebration we thought we found that opportunity in Myrtle Beach--and more specifically, in Apartment #1603 of the Indigo Tower, North Beach Resort and Villas. At first glance, the five-bedroom, five bath apartment on the 16th floor of the Indigo tower looked perfect in pictures. The website photos led us to believe that we would be spending our Christmas holidays in the lap of luxury, soaking in ocean views. However, that's not exactly what we found. Maybe we should have read the reviews a bit more closely... Leading off with what we loved about our stay in #1603, the view was nothing short of spectacular. Well positioned, we had an expansive balcony with clear views of the ocean, beaches and the Myrtle Beach skyline. No other buildings obstructed that fabulous view. The pools and hot tubs were operating and we were blessed with fantastic weather with temps approaching the mid-70's. The showers were pretty awesome too. What didn't work for us... In a nutshell, the condition of the apartment was by no means accurately represented by the photos provided by the owners. The pictures did--and still do--paint a picture of clean, modern and luxurious apartment. The reality though is much different. We noted immediately that the apartment had not been cleaned in any meaningful way. While the staff had come through and made some creative towel sculptures, surfaces--the kitchen especially--were grimy. The provided glassware had been stored back into the cupboards with lipmarks, coffees stains and crusted food. Chipped coffee cups and glasses, Skillets that were completely unusable due to broken handles, and deeply scored and scorched surfaces. The coffemaker barely worked and produced only lukewarm coffee, this after the owner confirmed to us via email that a Keurig was available in the room, which it was not. Even the toaster was broken. The furniture was badly worn, stained, and in places seams along the couch gaped open. A broken chair, deeply scuffed wood surfaces, and to truly put the finish on the décor, the carpeting throughout the main living areas are stained as to defy belief. Privacy was a concern as the floor to ceiling windows in the main living area lacked any blinds or curtains--enabling anyone with in the opposite wing of the building above the 14th floor to peer directly into our living room at night. The bedrooms and bathrooms were fine, with the exception one of the back bathrooms where some previous occupant had gotten sick and no one really thought to check the back of the bathroom door or really clean the side of the tub. The electrical outlets were hit or miss. We understood that for some outlets a switch had to be turned on, but the issue was that for some outlets, only one part of the outlet worked, the other did not. Lamps were missing a couple of light bulbs but we sorted that out. We propped up the floor lamp in the corner so it wouldn't fall over. In short, we cleaned and made it work and had a great vacation anyway. We didn't get to watch any of the holiday movies that we had planned. We brought along our Apple TV, but it was completely unusable because of the "Captive Portal" login for the building Wifi. To be more specific, when setting up network access on an Apple TV or a Roku, one must first select the a Wifi network signal and type in the password for that network. In this case, you can't do that. Internet access requires you to open a browser window and enter in a username and password to the "Captive Portal" launch page--only then are you able to gain access to the internet. That prevents Apple TV, Roku Stick and the like from working as they don't have a browser that allows the user to enter that info into the portal launch page. Finally, that wouldn't have worked anyway because the Wifi is painfully slow (unless you pay a premium price for greater speed). We did stream Xmas music on our BT speaker using my unlimited data plan from Verizon, so that's a good thing. Finally, if you've made it this far, you might ask why we didn't call the front desk to raise a stink about the poor condition of the property? I say we didn't because because we took time to really go back and read reviews on Yelp, Trip Advisor, VRBO and the iTrip sites. The same issues about cleanliness and lack of staff engagement/responsiveness to those issues have been reported for some time for this unit, and the property. I can't speak to the veracity of those other reports although I have found reviews of this same room that rebut completely our review. What I can say is that in restrospect, I wish we'd taken more time to read the reviews as that may well have changed our decision to select this property. In short, caveat emptor.

Thank you for staying with us and I am so sorry to hear about your experience. 1603 is rented out through iTrip which is a separate 3rd party booking company and not directly through the resort. There is no excuse for the condition of the unit and I will be sure to pass this along to iTrip. I would love to have you give the resort another chance and would encourage you to book directly through us so that I can personally ensure that the unit you stay in meets both of our standard. We have a number of 5 bedroom units that you can book directly through the resort. The front desk would have been happy to take care of any issues, however since you booked through iTrip you would not have had access to the resort front desk.

We stayed in a cottage to accommodate the 7 of us. There was plenty of room. The home was very clean and well stocked with all the necessities. Being so close to the ocean was a major plus. The community was clean and safe. We were able to enjoy the pool at the hotel on the cooler days.

This is an absolutely fantastic property. Unfortunately, and I’m sure it was due to covid and lack of employees, check-in was a bit of a pain. There were only 2 people at check-in with a line out the door. We stayed in the resort towers. Our 3 bedroom 3 bath suite was outstanding, Sadly people don’t take care of other peoples property, so the walls were quite dirty in places. Housekeeping could have did a better job in cleaning before we arrived as we found q-tips, candy wrappers under furniture and we could never catch up with them to get a missing remote control. However even with these small items, we absolutely loved the resort. The pools were amazing. The hot tubs terrific! Everything was spotless in the common areas and well cared for. We were so fortunate to have an amazing weather week and was able to spend a lot of time in the spotless outdoor relaxing pool area. All of the property personnel were kind and caring. The parking garage was designed well. We would come back in a heartbeat.

We had a beautiful home to stay in but the pictures showed a jacuzzi and pool. The jacuzzi was not working and is not heated. We were told by management that jacuzzis are not in the description because none of the Jacuzzis are heated im North Beach villas! However This is false advertisement when you still show the Jacuzzi in the pictures of the home. We also waited 5 hours to get new washcloths as some were dirty. And when you call the front office it is difficult to even get through! Long story short, this is just a management company running check in. Don't expect any perks or special customer service. And if something is wrong they are so busy checking people in that they do not return calls or respond quickly. The staff was not warm or welcoming and was very short in tone and attitudinal! For those reasons we will not return.

Thanks for staying with us and I am glad that you enjoyed the beautiful home that you stayed in. I apologize about the confusion with was included in your reservation. There is no advertisement of a jacuzzi in the unit description or mention of one anywhere on our website as those are not accessible to guests per the homeowners. We do have a number of hot tubs at the towers which our villa guests have access to. There is the inclusion of an individual pool at the unit that you stayed at. I apologize about your wait for washcloths as that should have not happened and is not typical. We try to give out exemplary customer service through the front desk and Ivy (our texting service) which you utilized and I am sorry that we seemed to have missed the mark with you this time. I do hope that you will give us another opportunity to make your next stay a great one.
