We stayed after staying at the same name hotel in Columbia, SC. I again booked this hotel because I am a big fan of Marriott and they are pet friendly with no pet fees. I used the app to check in and let them know that I would be arriving early. Well, that never happened, but since we have family in town, we was ok until our room was ready. When we got to the hotel, we had to check in at the front desk. I advised that I had already checked in on the app. I was told that they aren't online with the app yet. Once checked in, I went to get my dog and was told that they didn't realize that I had a pet and needed to fill out a form. I understand the whole process, but my reservation stated that I would be traveling with a pet. Anyway, we got to our room and it was much smaller that our previous hotel room. You could see that the room was dated. There was patch work done on the ceiling with visible rust. The paint was worn and peeling in places. I was very surprise by this; even though Marriott recently took over the brand, I expected better upkeep by Starwood. I spoke to the person at the front desk about the room and she told me that the will be renovating near the end of the year. I hope that this will be a major renovations because it is needed. The closet area was just that; an area. The area designated as a closet couldn't was in the bathroom and you couldn't hang long articles of clothing. Otherwise, our stay was good. Everyone was friendly. The hotel is well located with shopping and restaurants near by. Very close to the airport and highway. We visit Charleston several times a year, so I look forward to visiting again after the renovations.

Recently we stayed at this property and were quite surprised by the condition of everything we encountered there. Not a single piece of equipment in the exercise room was working, not one! Carpet throughout the hotel was worn and dirty to the point of not wanting to walk on it barefoot, even in the room. No faceplate at all on the phone, so no service buttons, operator, etc. could be determined. Although I made the reservation manager aware, nothing was done to correct the issue. Very thin cheap mattress that was not supported by box springs could not hold the sheets on the bed. All this for the bargain rate of nearly $150 for the night. Overall, this property should not be a part of the Marriott umbrella, but should be a $39.99 per night hotel! Many nicer properties at a similar price within a few blocks. The Marriott on Montague is far superior, if looking for a quality hotel.

Design style is very European. Rooms and bathrooms compact. Platform bed. Even so far as to have a stacking chair for the desk. Friendly efficient staff. Located near airport and outlet stores. Many restaurants within walking distance

We decided to stay here since we enjoyed our stay at Aloft in Greenville SC. We also like the fact the hotel has a bar. We know this is a contemporary/eclectic place, but the hotel halls are pained black (kinda depressing). We entered our room and it smelled very musty. The AC made loud noises most of the night. The bathroom sink did not drain well. The faucet flow had to be very slow to allow the water to drain. This property is convenient to the outlets and the Charleston Coliseum/PAC; however, it needs updated to reflect the Marriott/Bonvoy standard. There are alot of hotels around this area, so we will be staying elsewhere on our next visit.
