This is our first time staying at Mystic Sea. I knew it wasn't one of the fancy hotels and I wasn't expecting it to be. I was pleasantly surprised at how homey it was. The room was comfortable for the 6 of us, (that included a 3 month old and the pack and play.) Beds were comfortable. The room was clean. They could have done a better job in the bathroom area and kitchen. Toilet seat top was dirty and the cabinet next to stove was a bit sticky. We stayed in a 2 bedroom on the second floor. Room 204. Not ocean front room but you could see the ocean from the balcony. The room contains 3 beds, one is separate from main room., kitchen with stove, microwave and full refrigerator . Window air conditioners that worked well. They do not clean rooms during your stay , only before you arrive and after you leave. Leave your towels outside and they will pick them up and give you fresh. The front desk staff were very helpful and courteous. The building does need some repairs. It is a 60 year old building. Our room had some stucco falling from the ceiling and the other bathroom ceiling was cracking. Nothing that would interfere with having a good time at the beach. It is an ocean front motel so just a short walk and you are there. The pool was nice to swim in and the hot tub felt great before going to bed. We stayed during the hurricane and there were no problems. In fact, we had such a good time and decided to stay another day. We stayed 5 days total. If you are looking for 5 star, sorry this place is not for you. If you just want a comfortable place to lay your head , sit outside on the bench and talk to some neighbors, just relax and enjoy being close to the ocean and the activities around the area, then yes. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you Randy for a great stay!

I knew this wouldn't be a fancy hotel.and it's not. It's a little grimy everywhere, but the bathroom, which has been renovated recently. The shower was nice, and the full-size fridge was clean, but we could've used a bedside table on that side instead. I had to Lysol wipe the lamps and bedside tables. There is no elevator that stinks, but the view is great, and there is easy beach access. The lights on the walkways are great security, but shine in your room all night. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There is a nice grassy area with new lounge chairs, but there's a lot of cat poop, fresh and dried there, which hampered the enjoyment.

Loved that they were big dog friendly. Staff was friendly. I came to stay from WNC after hurricane helene for a few nights. Pillows were very strange and uncomfortable, could use an upgrade. Was charged a mysterious $25 fee after I left with no description on why, I didn’t bother calling to ask. Overall a little over priced for what you get but that’s myrtle beach now. A ton of stray cats around which is difficult when your motel is dog friendly. Huge patch of unused grass in front of motel by beach but you’re not allowed to let your dogs use it and they have to go to a tiny grass spot or the beach to potty? In a bind it was an adequate stay I guess.

Wanted just to walk around the waterfront and check things out unfortunately there is a charge just to get into the waterfront it was $28 per person we arrived by 3:00 p.m. and it closed at 5 so needless to say we did not stay. I think it's a shame that they are charging such a high price just to walk around the waterfront. This did include the museum but we did not have time to do that on our short visit. If you plan on doing this and the aquarium buy the ticket that's the combo ticket saves you a little bit of money But make sure you give yourself enough time in a-day to do both

This is the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. EVERYTHING was dirty beds, shower, bathroom, walls, carpet, even outside. Staff was also very rude. There were holes in the wall through to outside. It sounded like there were birds stuck in the back wall of the room and they chirped all night. The bath towels were about the size of a hand towel and disgusting. I know it was a cheap hotel but it could have at least been clean and have friendly staff. Booked for 3 nights, left after 1! Waste of money. I highly recommend staying somewhere other than here.

There are some haters on here...

I have found my MB hotel. Family owned, not a corporate chain. Great rates. Spacious rooms w comfy beds, pillows, and linens. Updated bathroom, very clean. Oceanfront/poolfront rooms available. Large flat screen smart TV. Full size fridge and microwave. Full sized dresser with lots of counter space. Luxury toiletries. Soft towels. Easy parking. Across from Mystic Sea general store and next to Scoobys Grill and Ben and Jerrys. Walking distance to restaurants including a breakfast/lunch place. Amazing staff: friendly and helpful. Easy check in and out. There is not an elevator but the owner carried my bags and would not accept a tip. 3 stories. Coffee makers in some rooms. Shower only which I prefer. On the way past the outdoor pool and hot tub to the water there is a grassy area with a bbq grill. Plenty of chaise lounges and chairs. Past that is beach access. I've stayed in more than 15 hotels in North MB, South MB, Surfside, and Murrells Inlet, including condo rentals and airbnbs along w traditional hotels. I will never stay anywhere else.

We just stayed here for the weekend. We had a two bed room with kitchenette. The room decor was minimal, The room was extremely clean....I wore white white socks. No remnants of sand, floors were mopped clean. This is an older motel but awesome. The room was roomy bigger than expected with full size refrigerator, New ac, huge bathroom. The management most accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

I don’t know how they call this a resort! It can’t be even categorized as drive through motel. The worst place I ever been at in the united states. I wish we re-scheduled our vacation rather than staying here, we are working very hard to find another place tonight but everything is sold out. Awful place stay away
