The location is great, right on the beach. It is nice that there are first floor rooms that open onto the parking lot, makes it easy to manage your pet for walks. The room was clean. The parking is free. The price was relatively low. Having said all of that, there is nothing

The Mermaid Inn is a very cute, quaint motel in a SUPER location: directly on the beach and far enough out of Myrtle Beach so that it is peaceful and quiet after a day in the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. However, I have very mixed feelings as noted below. The good:

This was a nice, quiet little Inn that was well worth the money!! It sat right on the beach and all the staff here was excellent. The room was clean and roomy enough, although the bathroom was a bit small, but served its purpose, so all was great. Would definitely recommend and

This hotel scams their customers months after check out. They'll use your charge cards so look at your bank statements constantly. The MMI made a $23,000 mistake and are blaming it on their customers because they don't know how to manage their money. The rooms closest to the

One again.... LibraLady33/geminigal63 I will be looking into what our options are legally at this point, as you are slandering our business with semi-truths. I will post the same follow up response below, as I did on your previous review under a different name. Have a nice day! First of all, I would not typically do this, but if you are going to write a review, at least be completely honest. You stayed with us for a very long time, and gave nothing but praise about our service when you left. For several weeks you continues to extend your reservation. Now call me crazy, but if you had that many complaints with the service here, and how you were treated, it would make no sense for you to stay with us for an extended period of time. Yes, we had damage to our WI FI equipment from a NATURAL DISASTER, A HURRICANE! Now most rational humans would understand that, and we accommodated you by moving you to an area where you would not have an issue, in which you expressed your thanks, and had NO further problems at all. When I spoke to you last week about the charges on your card, you told me that it would cause you financial hardship for the charges to go through at this time, and my advise to you was that you had the right to dispute it, and that your bank would make the funds back available to you at that time. I HAVE NOT ONCE "FOUGHT" ANY DISPUTE that you have made with your bank, you are the one fighting a fight that is unnecessary. Now what I did do was tell you that we did have a problem with the credit card platform at that time, and due to that problem ALL guests that stayed with us for that 3 week period had ALL of the money that was charged to them released back to their accounts, therefore it IS money that you owe us for services, and lodging that we rendered to you. YOU WERE NOT CHARGED FOR THOSE DATES IN QUESTION!! Although inconvenient, collecting money for services that we have provided to you, no matter when we do it, IS NOT UNETHICAL, nor is it ILLEGAL!! What is unethical is the fact that you believe that since some time has passed, that you should not be responsible for a debt that you clearly owe. I have offered to provide you with documentation from Bank of America stating these facts, and instead of amicably working this out you have made threats against us, such as filling police reports, going to small claims court, and now clearly telling partial truths on social media platforms in an attempt to hurt our reputation. I have been willing to help you with a solution to this, but after speaking with me, and telling me how much you like me as a person, that you like staying at our facility, and that you don't blame me for this very clear error that was not within our control, you have seemingly overnight changed your story. I will work with your bank to provide them with anything that they need, and I wish you a good day, ma'am!! Elizabeth Long General Manager Mermaid Inn

I stayed at this hotel from November 5, 2018 for a few weeks (was the only one there most of the time paying the staff's salary) and every time I re-checked in for the next week the manager said I was paid in full even on the last day when I checked out for good. TWO MONTHS
