Just returned from a 4 day stay at this location. Room was clean and the housekeeper Gracie was awesome. However, the check in staff leave a lot to be desired. They never greet you with the greeting of the day when you passed them. None of them seem to want to be there. Also, found it rude that staff was eating at the complementary breakfast while guest were trying to eat. Absolutely no one monitors the pool or outside area and for that reason the kids ran wild in the small pool area and completely took it over. Also, there was blatant and open smoking of marijuana in the grass area of the resort. Won’t stay here again because of the above reasons as if was pretty much a free for all in the pool area. The only reason for the 2 stars is for Gracie who made sure are room was clean and well maintained.

I would like to start my opening by saying that I have been a frequent customer to the strand. I have had some pretty outstanding visits here and I am disappointed for some of my future statements in this review. We arrived around noon on 7/5/19 and were prepared to wait because staying previously we knew check-in was not until 3:30 pm. They called us at 2:00 pm with our room ready! Awesome job there! The lady at check-in was not so friendly, but nothing that really ruffled my feathers. She is pregnant and I thought to myself "I've been there". So I was able to disregard the lack of hospitality. We were able to ease by without any surprises and pay what was expected. Room 1951 Ocean View The entrance was a two-door process and quickly closed behind you. Watch out because it is heavy and flip flops are common at the beach! We walked into no fridge, only a bathroom sink, and one chair on the balcony. I was shocked. So, I decided to call the front desk and just ask. Now we get to discuss miss baby thing again! She instantly stated what I had booked, a standard room. I explained that I was not calling to complain, rather just make sure they are aware that we only had one patio chair and no way to refrigerate our drinks. (in hopes they would bring us another chair so we would be able to enjoy the balcony together as a couple) NOPE! She was more concerned to push me off the phone and said: "some rooms be like that". Still, I wasn't angry, just a bit disappointed. It would be fair at this point to say she was rude. The view was stunning. I was thrilled at the price difference in oceanfront and oceanview for the exceptional similarity. We Have always stayed oceanfront, but would heavily recommend ocean view. Stay with me I have something to add here. Room Attendant I deeply wish I remembered his name. This was one outstanding employee. He was friendly, very outgoing, helpful, and he gave us some valuable information about our room. I explained what happened with the front desk call and he was very quick to make sure I was happy. He explained that we were in half of a condo (hence the weird door entrance). So it made sense as to why we did not have a kitchenette or proper room essentials. I was perfectly fine after finding this out. I understood. He kept our room clean the duration of our stay. I did not feel anything was not well kept. I did not see bugs. The room was a fine bedroom, considering that is what it truly is! Basically, the oceanview room is a great deal, but rent the entire condo and not a piece of it! The Bar Good food and drinks for what it is. I can not really give a lot of detail on the bar other than I have had no problems. To be quite honest, I am a little too tipsy every time I have ended up down at the bar. So I have always found it pretty enjoyable and a good place to grab a snack then run back to the beach! Breakfast in the mornings is simple but does the job if you don't want to go out and spend money. We loved Donald's pancake house and it's super close. But, in bad hangover times, the OJ and bacon downstiars will do you right! Overall, I still love the strand. I won't hold this one bad encounter, with a disgruntled pregnant lady at the front desk, against them. I hope she does find happiness!

This was our first time staying at The Strand. In the past, we have stayed at their sister properties The Long Bay, Breakers, Bay View, and Paradise. Since The Strand is listed as a boutique hotel, I was under the impression that it was going to be a small quaint and relaxing hotel. Over the hotel was decent. The PROS: • The front staff upon check were AMAZING Symetrius and Jennifer have the most amazing demeanor. I was pleasantly surprised and many reviews I saw complained about some of the front desk personnel. They obviously did not have these two. • The room was clean….thank goodness because they are OLD. • The bed was COMFORTABLE!!!! • The bartender Michelle was friendly and fun to talk with. • The pool area was clean and fun. Everyone was talking and watching the kids play. It felt like we knew one another. • Matanience was quick and fixed our remote issue • Housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room each day. We were surprised because most hotels on the beach only do towel service daily. Each day our bed was made and trash was taken out in addition to fresh towel. • Breakfast overall was good. Since we stayed Monday – Friday it was never very crowded. Although we did have to joke one day they had burnt and I mean burnt French toast sticks….um yeah no one was grabbing those…LOL Now for the CONS: • The front desk attendant Marleen was not friendly. You could tell she was trying to be friendly but she was helplessly failing. Somethings just do not come naturally. She was not rude or disrespectful just not friendly. Reminded me of one of my petty officers from my Navy days. • Even though our room was an OF room we had a horrible view of the hotel next to us. The top looked like glass had been shattered and broken chairs on the roof. Not The Strands fault but was still an eye sore. • There were definitely drainage issues. Our kitchen sink would just start bubbling and spitting water. • The toilet had to be the loudest toilet I have ever heard flush. • This was not the hotels fault but people somewhere above us were smoking weed. The smell was so strong I could not sit on the balcony. I started to call the front desk but since I did not know exactly which room it was I decided against calling. • The last day we do not know what went wrong but the breakfast area was CRAZY! They had ran out of food and coffee. Tables were dirty. People everywhere. We decided to eat out. Overall, we had a great and relaxing stay. The property is in a prime location and with some much-needed upgrades would be a nice place to stay again.
