The Marina Inn at Grande Dunes appears to offer a mixed experience for its guests. While the hotel's location is often described as stunning and convenient for exploring local attractions, some travelers feel that the cost does not quite match the amenities provided, pointing out the expensive dining options and additional fees. Guests appreciate the cleanliness and the inviting atmosphere of the hotel, along with the free valet parking and private beach access.
However, reviews suggest room quality can be inconsistent, with some maintenance and housekeeping issues noted. Service experiences also vary, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting with reports of occasional neglect.

Gorgeous facilities. Incredibly friendly staff. Loved every minute of our stay. We were over for 5 days from the UK and were made to feel very welcome . Everyone on reception was super helpful and the cafe staff were really friendly. We used the hot tub and loved the cosy fire place in the lounge. Loved the idea of incentivising customers to refuse room service with a $5 catering voucher.

We have been coming to the Marina Inn for over 16 years. There is a reason why this is one of the only Four Diamond-rated hotels in Myrtle Beach. For starters, the facilities are always kept clean and fresh. The entire experience — from customer service and hospitality to cleanliness and comfortability — is unmatched. It is a gorgeous Mediterranean-style property overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, and the view is simply breathtaking.
They have a complimentary shuttle service that takes you to and from the beach via their private access point (<5-min ride). They have a beautiful outdoor saltwater pool with two separate jacuzzis, including a poolside cabana serving excellent food and drinks.
The Marina Inn is unique because it’s both perfect for families with children, as well as a tranquil getaway for parents and couples. The guests themselves are very friendly, and you’ll certainly meet a lot of decent people. You don't get any of the riff-raff associated with beachside chain hotels.
The hotel bar is called Reflections, and it’s so much more than a bar. The bartenders Julie and Michael are some of the nicest folks you’ll meet. Julie was very knowledgeable about mixed beverages, and was able to recommend the perfect flavor profile to someone who knew little about what they wanted to drink. Michael clearly loves his job and takes excellent care of his bar guests.
Speaking of staff, it’s very apparent that the staff cares about the experience of their guests. Sam, who works in valet, is an absolute treasure. He cares about each and every one of his guests and their vehicles. Nick is another bellhop whose professionalism and work-ethic are admirable. The night manager Joseph is another individual who truly goes above and beyond for the guests; whenever I needed something, he was always on it.
Everything is well-maintained and properly staffed. Housekeeping is very thorough, and plans their visits during the afternoons while most people are out at the beach. And it is the perfect place to relax after a long day at the beach.
The ballrooms and event spaces are amazing as well. Our family attended the venue’s first-ever wedding reception many years ago; we fell in love with the hotel, and have been coming here ever since.
My only complaint is that it's almost impossible to get a cup of coffee between the hours of 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Reflections serves Starbucks® Specialty Coffee in the morning, but stops around 11. Waterscapes closes at 11 and doesn't re-open until 4:30, which makes getting a simple cup of coffee a very daunting task. Sure, there's coffee machines in the rooms, but the fact that Reflections serves light food, but not a simple pot of black coffee is... frustrating, to say the least. The daytime bartender seems to get very annoyed when people ask for coffee, which... you and me both. 🙃☕️
Regardless, the Service Industry took a massive hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it makes me happy to know that places like the Marina Inn are still thriving. It’s not often you find a place that truly embodies hospitality. If you need a proper vacation, this is the place to be.

This was a great property from the time we checked in and departed. The studio with king bed, fireplace, kitchen: large bath: jacuzzi and the large balcony overlooking golf course and intercostal waterway was amazing also spectacular sunrises and sunsets. We stayed in 4-804a and was very comfortable and clean here. Our stay was November 14 -16 . Scott checked us in he was so nice and professional; then Joseph assisted and brought us a Keurig coffee maker to use during our stay. Sam helped with our luggage and did our valet parking. He was awesome and very helpful. Later we went to Waterscapes for dinner and before we went there we met Angelo with Security and had a nice conversation and Joseph was kind enough to escort us to the restaurant and actually took us and seated us at a table and introduced us to Jill the server, He was amazing and so helpful and so professional in his job. Our dinner was delicious we had Salmon and Bread Pudding was awesome. After dinner we went upstairs and sat in beautiful lobby near the fireplace even tried some hot apple cider. Friday we went back to Waterscapes for breakfast. I had the most delicious pancakes and bacon and strawberries and my sweetheart had the most amazing omelet ,bacon and toast ,coffee. Our server Mariah was so good; she kept our coffee hot and made sure everything was just right, Lovely and clean restaurant with a beautiful view of pool and boats on the waterway. Later in the evening Joseph showed us a penthouse for a future stay, he really proves Southern Hospitality is important. Saturday morning we had breakfast at Waterscapes, we love this place. We had our server Marla that morning and she was awesome. After breakfast my sweetheart said let’s take a walk outside in the courtyard with a beautiful view of the water. Well I looked up and saw Marla there and my sweetheart got her to take some pictures of him proposing to me. WOW what a surprise. This Marina Inn at Grande. Dunes goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We went to a special luncheon after that we returned and spoke with Matthew at front desk, so helpful. Later that evening we saw Joseph and we told him the news about our engagement, he was so happy for us we even got a hug. He had another penthouse he showed us inside the building so fabulous for another future visit with family.I would be remissed if we did not mention the rest of the staff we got to meet at front desk. Cherie; Sheryl, Irene, Laura, Patricia; Breana. We actually met Gail that booked our reservation. I would like to thank our housekeeper on the 8th floor who was very dedicated and hard working to make our stay more enjoyable. All the valet were so helpful each time they got our car. We cannot say enough about this entire staff that works together as a family and their teamwork, that makes you feel welcome and at home during your stay. We will return because of our recent stay and see our new found Family at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. You all touched our hearts. Thank You All Bobby and Betty

Never could get Linen replaced in room room service came by one time the entire 6-day stay never had our trash cans emptied. Food was very expensive in the hotel the two closest ice machines we're not even on the premises. They had been removed. The view from our room was nice and I did like the shuttle service to the beach.

As soon as My Family & I pulled up, there was someone to Assist w/o you touching anything…. They say your on vacation.. lol the Staff was amazing from Front desk, Bartenders, Baristas & Housekeeping staff was great. Atmosphere is Beautiful inside and outside, however only 1 complaint, the Living room/Sitting furniture needs a definite upgrade. The Kitchen, bathrooms and Bedrooms are nice and the View from the 2BR/2Bath was beautiful in the day and definitely night time. We stayed 4 night 5 days with an extended hour of check out 😊 Joseph, Laura, Patricia, Julie, Michael, Sue & to the Brother who made me My Caramel Cappuccino forgot your name, but yesss the staff was awesome.

This was a 2nd visit to comp a previous horrible experience at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. You'd think given the opportunity to right a wrong that they'd do everything possible to make sure that this stay went off without a hitch. NOT SO! After the daily room service didn't bother to show up we called, & requested in person at the front desk, multiple times trying to get fresh linens. Finally well after midnight a gal shows up with only towels. No washcloths or hand towels. We lost power on the main wall which housed the TV, lamps, but mainly the fridge, so we lost all our items that had to be refrigerated. Engineering/ maintenance NEVER SHOWED UP to address this issue the entire time we were there. We Won't be returning to MIGD.

The property was immaculate, and the view from our room of the pools, golf course, and marina was incredible. We only stayed one night, so our ability to experience everything was limited. Nonetheless, we were required to pay a considerable amenity fee at check-in (about 10%). Poolside, I had a nachos appetizer (chips, cheese, and chili) and a cocktail for $25.71! So this is a pricey property, which is somewhat surprising given that it isn't oceanfront.
We knew the property wasn't oceanfront, but having to wait for the shuttle was inconvenient, given the price. We assumed the beach was within walking distance, but it was at least a mile's walk in 90+ temperatures.
Two irritations in our room: 1. I took 2 showers at different times of the day, and there was no hot water either time. Hot water came to the sink, and my mate said he had hot water when he showered, so I'm not sure what was wrong with the water heater for this room. I likely would have requested a room change if we were staying longer. 2. The room's phone didn't work, making it difficult to reach the front desk to ask about the shuttle schedule, report the water issue, or request a late check out. (I asked about late checkout early in the morning, directly at the front desk, but that person was night coverage and unable to help me.)
On the plus side, the front desk upgraded our room at check-in and allowed me a one hour extension to checkout time.
In summary, I would recommend this resort to travelers who are interested in pool and golf. I would expect to be oceanside for the price, but it's a very nice property.

My family and I recently stayed at Marina Inn Grand Dunes and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. After a long and hot day at the beach, we returned to our room to find that room service had only left bath towels and no face cloths. After calling the front desk to request them, we were met with an unprofessional and unhelpful manager on duty who accused us of lying about receiving towels. It took several hours and multiple calls to the front desk to finally receive the items we needed.
The manager on duty refused to provide the contact information for the general manager, despite business cards with their name being present in the room. Overall, our experience at Marina Inn Grand Dunes was far from satisfactory. We hope that the hotel takes this feedback seriously and works to improve its customer service in the future.

My sister and I just spent a lovely week here and it was a pleasure from the beginning at check-in (with bellman "Sam I Am") -- and the great personalities and attention from Marc and Julie in the bar/salon made the cocktail hour a special treat -- and when we departed Justin (bellman) got us securely packed for our return drive. The resort is lovely, the front desk personnel polite and helpful, our two-bedroom unit was lovely (with the exception of the TVs which were really weird and difficult to manage channel-wise, most unusual and frustrating). The resort and grounds are very clean and well maintained. We elected to "go green" and the $5 appreciation coupons was an extra treat. Our first visit to Myrtle Beach and this resort helped make it one full of delightful memories.
