Check-in on the website and confirmation email was listed at 2pm. The day prior to check-in I called all throughout the day to see if I could get there early but no one ever answered. At 3pm the cabin was still not ready. After going to the beach for an hour to kill time the store closed early and finally checked in at a guard shack at 5pm. Bath houses were horrible this stay. Disappointing because I've always loved this KOA.

Room Tip: Definitely bring an RV with a restroom - bath houses were not cleaned during our stay.

I booked this campground without much research assuming it’s a KOA, with the KOA backing it had to be nice. I was completely wrong. From entering the campground there is an empty guard stand which just backs up traffic as people think there is someone checking them in. No guard, no checking, no security. Yes it’s walking distance from the strip but that means the constant sirens and gunshots are open to come in as well. There is a pool but it’s April and it’s not heated so you might as well swim in ice water. The camp shop is empty, literally just empty shelves. Don’t expect peace and quiet either. People are constantly moving in and out, golf carts zipping by all the time, construction on new cabins is loud and starts at 7 am and blocks the path in. Instead of new cabins they would have been better served to get more staff, add another play set for the kids, maybe the typical KOA put put or any other kids activities. We have been here for 5 days on spring break and only 1 day had Easter activities, there has been nothing else for the kids. Oh and forget the shuttle that is supposed to take you to the strip, they don’t have the staff to run it.

My first review disappeared so here it is again... I give this place a great review for kids activities but lock up your belongings! We finally bought brand new bikes for our entire family and we parked them right in front of our camper. We woke up the next morning and our bikes were gone! They only left one of the kids bikes. There is a trailer park inside this KOA and it is in an unsavory part of myrtle beach. We noticed a lot of traffic and people riding through that didnt seem to be camping there. We watched a drug deal go down just outside the front office. Theres no gate code to get in. Its all open. There is a security booth in front but they are not checking tags or anything. Anyone and everyone can drive through! Let me repeat....this is not a secure campground! I suspect someone came through and scoped our bikes and came back for them after dark. We will not be staying here again.

We love camping at KOA campgrounds, so much that we booked one of the deluxe cabins for our honeymoon. We traveled to myrtle beach from Ga after our wedding and called ahead to notify office we would be late checkin. They were very nice and let us know someone is always in guard shack and will check us in when we arrive. The man and lady in guard shack were very nice also and greeted us and welcomed us to the campground. We were given a map and campground info booklet with things to do and restaurants near by. Then he drove a golf cart ahead of so that we could find our cabin in the dark. He waited on us to make sure everything was what we expected. Very nice deluxe cabin with screened in porch, firepit and porch. Was in back of campground away from road which made it nice. KOA was off main highway that runs thru myrtlebeach which made it very convenient to shops and restaurants and You can see the ocean from the end of the road. Kinda cool time to be at the beach, but there was lots of things open. Pawnshops, fleamarkets, stores and the store at the end of the road gives discounts if you show them your parking pass from KOA. 2 state parks nearby and if u visit both on the same day, it's only a $8 a person entrance fee and u get into both. Myrtle beach state park and Huntington island state park very close by and lovely to visit. You can walk on pier, fish, ride horses and walk on the beach. Will definately visit KOA again. Recomend it to anyone visiting myrtle beach.
