They lost our reservation and were extremely rude and unhepful. Made no attempt whatsoever to fix their mistake, and was a gigantic pain from start to finish. Would not recommend this overpriced scam.

Hi Wesley - I am not sure what happened and I want to find out. Please let me know if this was a campsite or beach house rental reservations. We do care very much about our guests and always want to address each situation and try to make it right while the guest is in park.

This past visit was our third time coming to OL. As a family of 6 with 4 small children, this is the place to be. There’s so much for them to do, from the daily lamp starfish, the pool, waterpark, and the activities that are scheduled throughout the day every day. Yes, it’s a very very busy place. It was very overwhelming at first, especially when you are used to the campground that’s right beside of here. Once you figure out the best times to take the kiddos to the pool, and all that good stuff, you are gold. We usually only leave the grounds once or twice during our entire stay here, as there’s no need to go anywhere else. All the fun is here! I see a lot of negative reviews about the golf cart “parade” every night, and YES avoid the front strip at all costs during that time. It’s always just a stand-still and if you get caught in it, it can take a while to get out. We just get it in our minds that it WILL be crowded and lines WILL be long, so that we expect it and aren’t let down. Enjoy it!

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience AND for sharing some great tips. We are a busy place, and we understand it can be overwhelming, but don't ever hesitate to ask one of our teammates for help. I tell people to expect "Disney busy" with just as much fun for the family and a lot more ocean!!! Hope to see you again soon!

We just got back from spending 16 days at Oceanlakes. We have been going here for 30 years and still get excited as we are pulling in. We both can't wait for next year. The houses we have rented from them are always so clean, If there is ever an issue the people in the office are on top of it. I love the beach, the pool, the arcade. I can't think of a single complaint.

My husband and I enjoy traveling the country in our rig. When we reach our destination, we use Uber to get around. However, Ocean Lakes does not allow Uber past its front gates. We are getting up in years, and the 45-minute walk from our campsite to the front gate in the hot South Carolina sun is excruciating. Not to mention that we had to pay for the Uber driver's wait time. We have spoken to the staff about this but were told there are no exceptions.

Hi Joanne - I apologize that our Uber/Lyft/Door Dash/GrubHub/Uber Eats policy became a problem. We DO care about our guests, and that is why we have this policy. For guests that need transportation, our teammates explain that there are several taxi services that can drive guests directly to and from their site. They are licensed and insured cab companies and have the correct liability and coverage required by OUR insurance company (and that is required by ALL vendors that work inside OLFC). Cab companies have this coverage as a cost of doing business, and we are simply holding Uber/Lyft/Door Dash/GrubHub/Uber Eats drivers to the same requirement and standard. We inform Uber/Lyft/Door Dash/GrubHub/Uber Eats drivers that they can pick up a "Guideline for Authorized Uber and Lyft Drivers" in the Compliance Office. Being an Authorized Driver confirms the proper coverage and would grant them a work badge that allows them access into the campground. Ocean Lakes is a big campground and most of these drivers are aware of this policy. As a customer service courtesy, they should make the fare aware that they cannot pick them up at their site. This policy is not meant to cause guest hardship, sadly it is what is needed to protect our guests in case of an accident. Our VP/GM did a tremendous amount of research on this, and while generally, these for hire services have insurance in effect once the fare is in the vehicle, prior to that there is a gap in the proper coverage that can put our guests and teammates at risk as they enter and depart the campground. Many people who use these services may not be aware of this issue. Uber/Lyft/Door Dash/GrubHub/Uber Eats are able to drop off/pick up under the canopy or 15-minute parking at the Main Gate area. This policy has been in effect for several years (see our digital and printed materials). Guests can get a list of any Authorized Drivers or cab companies - just ask Security, any of our offices, or check under Quick Links online for a list. We know we are a big campground, and a walk from a site varies from its location in the 310-acre park. The distance of campsites to the Main Gate is equivalent to 3 - 9 blocks. Our team truly tries to assist guests as much as possible when guests reach out to the Main Office. Joanne, we are sorry that this overshadowed your vacation at Ocean Lakes. We truly hope that you were able to enjoy the beach and relax in the Carolina sunshine. And we do hope, with knowledge of this policy in mind, that you will visit again.
