The Breakers Resort offers a mix of experiences, with guests praising its prime location near beaches and attractions and a variety of family-friendly amenities. However, reviews indicate that the service can be hit or miss, and while some rooms are lauded for their comfort, others are criticized as outdated and not always up to par in cleanliness.
The atmosphere is generally well-regarded, though opinions on maintenance and the overall value proposition, including unexpected fees, are mixed among travelers.

This resort has multiple buildings and only one registration area. Parking is very limited for both registration as well as loading/unloading. Once registered, we were directed to the concierge, where we were given our "welcome packet." In reality, this is a timeshare pitch. We didn't sign up for the presentation, but just listening to the initial pitch cost us about 20 minutes only to receive a couple of coupons.
After leaving registration, we went to the building where our room was, to find there was practically no room to unload and no luggage carts available. I ended up having to go park in the parking garage across the street (free) and do most of our unloading there and making trips carrying our stuff across the street. The elevators in the building where we stayed were slow and overcrowded (especially for social distancing). However, we were able to manage this without too much delay for most of the trip.
The room was GREAT! It was spacious and well equipped and had a wonderful view of the ocean. We were pleased with the room. However, we were not pleased with housekeeping. We were told at check in that housekeeping was limited to towels and trash daily, with other upon request. We never got either unless we asked. We constantly ran out of in-room consumables (coffee, soap, shampoo, etc.) and had to ask for those to be delivered. They were pretty quick to accommodate, but this did mess up our schedule a little having to wait on these items.
The hotel has great access to beach with a lifeguard station nearby. There are chairs with umbrellas for rent, but we brought our own. The pools are chlorine and if you're not use to it, it can be really overpowering. We couldn't use the pools because of the chlorine (we were more used to salt water pools and the chlorine burned our eyes by just standing in the pool area). However, they have other activities to do onsite (life-size checkers and corn hole).
Also, there is construction on the premises. It is loud and definitely a distraction. Part of the lazy river is closed because of the construction. After a while, you can tune it out, but it did detract from the beach experience (you could constantly hear it from the beach). There wasn't construction at night and it didn't bother us from sleeping, but it does make the street messy and a foul odor on the street side of the buildings. I'm sure it will be great when they're done, but for now it is a detractor from the vacation.

Dear N336XZdarrenm, First, I want to sincerely apologize for the resort failing to meet your expectations. We at the Breakers are always striving to provide the best vacation experience possible. This entails extensive training for our staff, securing the best amenities possible for our guests and keeping our facility up-to-date with the ever evolving standards of today’s hospitality industry. This, compounded with the additional complications posed by Covid19 we are doing our best to provide the same level of service while also adhering to the ever-changing CDC and Local Government policies, however this sometimes results in services slipping through the cracks- but we're working on it! The ongoing Marriott project is one of such endeavors we have taken on, in order to optimize the guest experience. That being said, we know that these projects take time and can be a tad disruptive to say the least. For this reason, we have made every effort to ensure our guests can make an informed decision. Notice of the construction has been made available at the time of booking through our website and the toll free number. We even published a news article on our website, which includes artistic renderings of what the new building will look like! I sincerely apologize if you booked your reservations prior to those notifications being implemented. Realizing that there were thousands of reservations created before we even determined the exact timeline and overall impact it would have on our guests, it would be a feat of miracle proportions to proactively call each guest and inform them. For this reason, we try to utilize our website, as well as social media, to ensure any information we obtain regarding the Marriott project gets passed along in timely manner. Also, if you'd like to enroll in The Breakers mailing list, you need merely scroll to the very bottom of our website and enroll! Fortunately I can safely say that the most disruptive phase of the construction is coming to an end shortly and guests can look forward to a far more relaxing stay with us! We genuinely appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Peter N Guest Services Manager Breakers Resort (843) 444-4444 ext 7045

Our stay at the Breakers Palms (Oceanfront King Suite) was a good time overall. The location was convenient for both the beach and local activities. The room was exactly what I expected from seeing pictures online, it was clean and more updated and modern than most other room selections and other hotels in the area. The on site pool and hot tubs were pretty clean for the most part and we enjoyed the small poolside bar that was available. Our only major negative would be the noise that comes from the hallways in the morning when trying to sleep passed 9am. The bedrooms are positioned so that they are the first room by the hallway so you hear everything that goes on from the heavy doors slamming constantly to housekeeping knocking at every door, I couldn’t manage to ever sleep in. I’m sure the big pointless window to the hallway doesn’t help cancel out noise either. If the bedroom and living room area could switch positions that would be an easy fix for the noise and who wouldn’t want to wake up and go right on to the balcony. That aside everything was great and would stay again if we found ourselves at Myrtle Beach in the future.

Demolition of the building next door sent dust and small bits of debris on us while outside in the pool. Construction on the building we were staying in sent sound vibrations of drilling up to the sixth floor. Pictures online of pools and waterslides are shown in the same building, but are not. Pool closures and waterslide closures without warning or explanation. Incredibly loud -- no soundproofing on doors so when doors close in the hallway it wakes everyone up, including my child who is a very hard sleeper. Housekeeping only vacuumed and changed sheets if requested, never restocked coffee.

Dear sjvgo, I sincerely apologize for the resort failing to meet your expectations. We share your sentiment in the need for renovations. Sadly, when the Hurricane blew through in September of 2019, many of our scheduled improvements had to be delayed indefinitely, so that necessary structural repairs could be completed. This window of opportunity was shortened even further by the unseasonably warm spring weather. Therefore, we will be working twice as hard to get everything back on schedule this autumn. I invite you to return and judge our commitment to improvement. If I can be of any assistance whatsoever, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. We genuinely appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Peter N Guest Services Manager Breakers Resort

The staff was really helpful. We enjoyed all of the options for swimming. The super short walk to the beach was so nice. It was within a couple of miles from everything and everywhere that we wanted to go. We stayed in a queen suite inside the Palms building and the room looked exactly as it was pictured on the website when we booked.. and yes, there was construction going on outside of our balcony but you can't hear a peep from the bedroom, which is on the far side away from it. Honestly the boys enjoyed watching the construction workers, cranes, and all the huge equipment. As far as the room details are concerned, the room itself was very nice and spacious. The bathroom toilet was a bit cramped but the sink vanity had more than enough space. We weren't sure about housekeeping would work and assumed we would have to call each time, which is very understandable.. considering. Yeronica was absolutely the best! She left extra towels and garbage bags and was so sweet and funny each time we saw her in passing. She came by unexpectedly and tidied up when we went out for breakfast on the last day and it was just so nice to come back to that! Although parking was across the street, it was not inconvenient in the slightest, since the crosswalk was directly across from the registration building. We could even see our vehicle from the hallway outside our room. There was a couple of times we had to wait for the "next" elevator because of people that weren't wearing masks, although it was clearly required as per the signs on the entrance doors. But hey, people like that are everywhere, what can ya do!? The kids also enjoyed the free dvd rental and the DJ at the pools. All in all, it was an absolutely wonderful stay. We felt safe and comfortable the entire time, and we absolutely cannot wait to return.

I have been staying at this hotel many winters. I have a great regard for the staff here especially for Harry and Peter who work in the registration building. These employees are not just very friendly but always greet you with a smile and “can I help you”. During my stay of 2 months they and other members of the staff were very helpful for me and went out of their way to make my stay a good one. These fine men show a great complement to this hotel. The ready of the staff including the housecleaning staff also go out of their way to make sure you have a great time and know your room is taken care of. Mike Anderzak

I am very unhappy with the service. Especially after the amazing vacation we had here last year. I was really looking forward to coming back but things were very different this time around. Last year there were staff going around and making sure you were taken care of and restocking towels and changing the trash around the pool deck. This year we went most the day with no towels ever being bought out and the trash was being left until the end of the day. The part I was most upset about though was the fact I paid alot of money for an Oceanview suite and was left with no towels or toilet paper and my trash was overflowing. At this point we will not be returning next year while was our original plan.

Dear Companion11211806451, I sincerely apologize for your lackluster experience. In light of the global Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to severely alter our daily housekeeping operations to adhere to CDC guidelines and ensure staff and guest safety alike. This has been complicated even further by the ever-updating guidelines that the CDC and local government have been changing on a daily basis. We totally understand that you are used to a different standard- so are we- and it pains us to not be able to provide the same level of service that we are accustomed to providing; however we are hoping that by adhering to these guidelines so fiercely we will be able to return to business as usual even faster! We appreciate your patience with us during these strange times and urge you to return in the future. If I can be of any assistance, whether it's with booking a future reservation or merely answering questions about local guidelines and other relevant information, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. I hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely, Peter N Guest Services Manager Breakers Resort (843) 444-4444

I was disappointed with my Breakers stay this year. We’ve been going for many, many years and have seen the steady decline of what was once a beautiful property. After trying a couple of other hotels in different locations we decided to return to the Breakers for its location close to a number of good restaurants. After a horrible check in experience and being dismissed by the manager Anna as being beneath her to talk to us a second time we decided to make the most of the situation after all we are on the beach with loved ones who needs anything more. Not us, thankfully because after you’re checked in no one wants to hear from you again. You have to call/go down to the check in to get your own towels, toilet paper and trash bags. All of the furniture is old, sagging, uncomfortable, dirty and greasy. Still we made the best of it. I cleaned the kitchen myself before washing the dishes that we going to use. But what I found truly disheartening on this visit that absolutely no one involved with the Breakers responds to anyone’s concerns or reviews. Absolutely no one follows up on how your stay was or how they can improve. In a time where people are looking forward to some relaxation and fun where you spend your hard earned money doesn’t matter there. If not you, someone else will pay for that room so just move along to somewhere better even if you have to add a few more dollars. Where you lay your head at night matters. Where you chose to spend your hard earned money matters. Read the reviews.

Laurie at Check in was super rude short and hateful. Both the rooms I was in the bathrooms and kitchen were dirty I called and complained the first night and HK came and cleaned the bathroom the second room we switched to I just cleaned it myself after complaining I really tried to avoid going to the registration office after my first experience with Laurie at check in she was completely rude and just hateful I was trying to tell my husband the price for extending the stay and she yelled at me to get off my phone and this was after she started off hateful and I explained I was trying to tell him the info she didnt care I asked where to park and her reponse was across the street like there are so many different parking areas for this place we just wanted to make sure we went to the right one and so many other families conplained about lack of directions and lack of information. The plus of this location is the pools available for children and its right on the beach and the house keeping staff are friendly and kind.

3rd time staying at Breakers and it will be the last. Stayed on the 9th floor of the Sailfish building and you could hear the traffic noise and wind blowing through the spaces around the front door. We had to put towels around the bottom to keep the noise and wind out. Water temperature fluctuated to scalding temperatures while taking a shower or washing dishes. The ice maker sounded like it was carving ice it was so loud. We had booked the room to be there for CCMF and when it got postponed to 2021 we almost canceled the whole trip. But we figured it would be nice to get away(boy were we wrong). We called and asked if we could get a discount on the room since they were advertising much lower prices now but was told No because it was within 14 days of our arrival. We could have canceled the reservation - lost the deposit and still stayed somewhere else cheaper and we should have! We were only given 2 people per day breakfast coupons for 6 people. When we called and explained that last year we received breakfast for everyone for each day we were told we bought the wrong package. I don't see anywhere on their website that there are other breakfast packages available. So in the end we will stay somewhere else for CCMF 2021. Plenty of hotels on the strip. Since Breakers doesn't care about return guests than we don't care about them!

I do not think so because they give you bands to wear while you are using their facilities, you also have to turn them in, you get them at check in
But you can always try
The Palms is nice, but the they also have the courtyard marriot right next door which might be nicer. I was in the Palms last weekend 7/21 -7/24 the room was nice.
