Detailed Reviews
Called to schedule a shuttle from the airport, and the first person hung up after I was on hold for 10 minutes. Called back, and the new person was able to schedule it immediately with no issues. The shuttle driver (Tom) was amazing! Check-in was busy, but the line was moving very quickly, and the people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful!!
Our room (Palms Oceanfront One Bedroom King Suite) was very spacious and had an AMAZING view of the ocean. The only room flaw we noticed was that there were white specs on the floor that we thought were dirt/dust, but apparently it was just the design of the floor? Otherwise the room was very clean and modern!
The only issue we had with our stay was that housekeeping never visited our room at all during our 5 day stay. As stated on the website, confirmation email, and assistive text, we were specifically told, “As a reminder, housekeeping will stop by daily to exchange your towels and take out your trash.” They never came to collect our trash or exchange the towels, we had to ask for new towels when we saw them in the hallway, but they didn’t take the old towels, so there was unfortunately a mound of dirty towels left in our room all week.
The location is very close to various restaurants in walking distance and we got a discount at Papa’s Restaurant (breakfast buffet) because we were staying at the Breakers (>1min walk). Also quick and easy access to the beach! (also because its so close walking to the beach and water amenities on site, floors by the elevator and inside the elevator were often wet - Palms Building)
Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay (outside of housekeeping) and will stay here the next time we visit Myrtle Beach!!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.

There was a lot to love about this vacation! We loved the location, close to restaurants, a Starbucks right across the street, we had the pizza across the street and the restaurant right beside called Bummz beach cafe. The food was great and they had nightly entertainment.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. We had 6 guests. Myself, my husband, our two kids and my parents.
The hotel location was perfect. There was plenty to do for all ages at this resort. My kids loved the lazy river and all the pools. We didn’t get to use the slides because they weren’t tall enough but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. The room was clean, the hotel itself was clean.
My only complaints are
Shortly after we got into our room and settled. Two random women came into our room and they had just gotten assigned to our room as well. The other ladies were very upset and I was as well. I had two young children in the room with me and things have gone very badly if things got out of hand. But I called the front desk who sent my call to the manager and we got new keys and it all straightened out.
Another complaint is that the pools were dirty and needed a good cleaning. Some of them had green and black algae growing in the cracks. I’m sure summer season is difficult to give a good cleaning when there’s so many people I understand. And people don’t rinse off after the ocean which then the pools have sand in the bottom. Another thing I noticed was no hotel staff walking around cleaning up or changing garbage. The pools don’t open until 9am, slides don’t open till 11. There were times when the staff were late getting to the slides and such to open.
Overall we did enjoy our stay and would stay again.

This was our first time staying at The Breakers and it will be our last time. On the first day, the front desk sent us to the wrong tower. When I called to ask about our room not being in that tower, the lady at the front desk told us that is because we’re in the wrong tower. All she said to us was sorry and then hung up the phone. When we got to our room as well, it was still dirty. There were smudges on light switches and the floors were extremely slippery. When we were checking out housekeeping was banging on my door at 9:30am asking us when we were leaving even though check out is at 11am. Also, we purchased breakfast vouchers when we booked, so we had went downstairs to get breakfast and were very rudely denied because they close in 15 minutes. We had determined that our clock in our room was about 20 mins off since we did not have our phones on us. We came for our 1 year anniversary and we were both very disappointed. When we checked out and told the woman at the front desk about everything all she did was smile and laugh. That was the first and last time that we will ever stay at The Breakers for sure.

We have always stayed at Breakers Resort because the accommodations and location are generally excellent. However, this time was different. We checked in on Tuesday and checked out on Friday. When we got home we reviewed our bill and in addition to our daily room rate we saw a "housekeeping fee" of $24.95 per day. I did not request this service and I did I receive this service. One of the days we did get our towels exchanged which I read on my welcome packet was complimentary; however this only happened one day . My husband called Breakers and he was told that if we wanted housekeeping we had to call the front desk 24 hours in advance. We did not call because we did not want this service. We asked to have the fees removed and were told it's all part of their fee's. So I paid for a service that I did not receive nor did I want! This has never happened before and if this is considered "service" I certainly disagree and this practice is disingenuous at best. I will be checking with other hotels in this Myrtle Beach area to see what their practice is regarding housekeeping fee's. So in closing, as soon as you arrive at a Breakers Resort Hotel request housekeeping because you'll be paying a daily fee for it!

There are several bldgs to stay in, all different ages and styles. We stayed in the Paradise Tower. PROS: great location right on beach, parking garage across street, several restaurants in walking distance (Bummmz Grill next door good), Starbucks, Ben & Jerry’s, Pizza place across street, buffet bkfst restaurant across street, all staff I interacted with were helpful and nice, my unit was spotlessly clean, towels and sheets looked brand new, towels were abundant, everything worked except hair dryer (they replaced immediately), AC and heat both worked great, had a very cold mini fridge, coffee maker (not a keurig but a 4 cup regular coffee pot) and microwave in sitting area, and no door key cards to keep track of (they use rubber wrist bracelets instead). CONS: Paradise bldg was old and outdated (not sure how old but looked 1970’s), elevators could be slow and require a wait at times, checkin/pull-up unloading area out front right was crowded and chaotic, I could smell cigarette smoke odor inside the bldg, my room had old brown color frayed carpet that looked worn and dirty (I wore shoes), very loud with doors slamming, children and teens running up and down halls etc… at all hours (get a room at end of hall or corner room and that might help), worn innerspring mattress not comfortable, fat hard uncomfortable pillows (bring your own), tiny balcony (I had a side balcony), 2 very lightweight uncomfortable cheap plastic chairs on balcony, the only linens on the beds were sheets, no comforters or blankets were on the beds or in my room anywhere so I had to improvise by laying some of my clothes on top of bed to act as “blankets”, sparsely furnished kitchenette area (a few plates, cups, no eating utensils, no paper towels), poor lighting/dark, pool area lounge chairs were not comfortable, I didn’t see any beach service (umbrellas/chairs) like they have at other beaches, all of the vending machines I tried either did not work or were empty, no tv channel guide so could not find channels. My room had 2 beds, a bath with combo tub/shower, single sink and a small sitting area with loveseat, table, chair and balcony facing the side. I could not see the sliding balcony door from the bedroom, no views unless you actually walked outside. I would stay at Breakers again just not in the Paradise Tower. Palms looked a little nicer.

Thank you for providing a review regarding your recent stay at The Breakers Resort. Guest satisfaction is our number one priority, I apologize that we fell short of exceeding your expectations. I'm unsure of the time frame you stayed with us, however, the Paradise building has been renovated recently in May. All our room look brand new and beautiful, with the exception of a few rooms that did not get the renovation. These rooms are the Standards rooms at a lower cost versus the deluxe room that got renovated. Please contact me on your next visit and I will make sure you are on one of our best renovated rooms. Again, I apologize for the experience and thank you for staying with us! Sincerely, Eric S. Resort Manager

The resort is situated ideally on the waterfront and you are steps from the ocean! There are multiple pools to use across the properties but we preferred the waves. The location was within walking distance of many attractions. Parking was conveniently located across the street from the hotel. I appreciated the helpful clerk at check-in as well as allowing us early access to our room since we had an early flight in.
However, the room was desperately in need of updates. The beds weren't that comfortable. Housekeeping services were not clearly explained (you need to leave your trash in the hallway for pick up). Towel service was daily, but I would find the towels dumped on my open suitcase at the door. The chairs and table had definitely seen better days (chipped, old, in need of replacement). The bathroom faucet sink was missing part of its base (like it had disintegrated). There was mold/mildew in crevices in the bathroom, too. The Internet service was AWFUL. The TVs were old and/or remotes didn't work so there didn't appear to be a way to login to streaming services. There was a DVD player in the bedroom, if you're traveling with DVDs. Breakfast vouchers were a perk but the restaurant did not offer much fresh food and juice was not included with your breakfast (additional charge).

In our first room, we experienced a terrible issue with saw palmetto bugs. They were in the room at check in and then continued to enter the room for the first two days. I attempted to move rooms on night one but was told no rooms were available. I sprayed the room extensively with home defense max and Ortho came in the room (though sprayed only the sliding door track) and they still came in the room. Finally, a manager did move us to a new room. We were told the issue was the palm tree outside our room. No offer was made to give us a discount or compensate us for staying with roaches in our room.
The second room was without bugs, but both room furnishings need to be updated. The couch and chairs have stains and rips in them, and the laminate flooring has become to separate to the degree it is a tripping hazard.
When asked about the slides for the small children in the pirate ship play area, we were told that it was a short staffing issues and they would try to open the slides. We spent 9 nights at the hotel and the kid slides were only OPEN TWO days. This is highly unacceptable. Even more upsetting was the excuse were given and that no offer of a discount or refund would be given as there are other water amenities. This is appalling. Is my five-year-old daughter supposed to slide down the adult slides? These slides and area are advertised to bring in families and the fact they were not open bothers me deeply. Lastly, the pools and lazy river was noticeably not as clean as the summertime. There were multiple bugs and roaches in the pool and hair. Staff should be a priority to be hired so the kids can play, and the pools can be cleaned and skimmed.

Stayed at this property for 4 nights while attending a conference. I didn't expect much considering it was only $62/night at the time of booking. I was in the paradise tower on the 18th floor with an ocean view- I was very impressed with the room itself and the amazing view. The location was perfect and the property well kept. As a vegetarian, my meal options were limited for their restaurants, however the Rusty Reel has amazing French fries and Michelle at the bar was awesome. I was disappointed that they charged $15/day for housekeeping and the only thing done was trash collection and replacing towels. No other cleaning services, making the beds, removing cups/empty containers etc, replenishing coffee, creamers- nothing. I would likely go back based on the location alone, it is a beautiful property.

My family and I have been staying here for over 30 years. We had 4 rooms with family over $10,000 spent on rooms and couldn’t get housekeeping to clean the room or barely bring towels. If you look when you book you pay an extra mandatory fee for housekeeping that is based upon size of room. We had one bedroom suites it was 25 per day and if they came they would want you to bring the dirty towels to them and your trash claiming that’s all they do u less you request full service. I requested it for my entire stay and they still would come there was sand all over the floors which ended up in the beds and some nights no clean towels when you called down they would never bring them. My parents had to use the same towels for 2 days. The switchboard operator was rude and when I demanded to speak to a manager wanting my housekeeping fees refunded never received a call back. If I’m cleaning my own room then I shouldn’t have to pay. There would be trash up and down hallway with dirty towels bwcause I was told by front desk nobody wants to work and they were short staffed in my opinion no excuse I didn’t get a discount for that and paid for a service they refused to provide. The check in process is awful you stand in a long line with maybe 2 people working on Saturdays then have to come back and wait all over again when room is ready. The pools were filthy couldn’t even see my feet in the bottom. They remodeled rooms and they were beautiful, but by far the worst stay we have had there with the most unfriendly staff. This is so disappointing because we have been regulars here for years.
