My wife and I stayed here for a week with our young grandchildren and their parents. The experience exceeded our expectations. The cottages were perfect for our needs. We really enjoyed the large screened porch, the quiet atmosphere, the wonderful view, and the constant sound of waves lapping the shore. The Cottages are walking distance to the Maritime Museum. Charleston is a 10 minute drive across the bridge, or also available by hourly water taxi. Our cottage was spotlessly clean, with all amenities we might need. We also enjoyed meeting Lisa, the General Manager who made sure everything was in good shape. We will definitely return.

Nice accommodations ...whole cottage house overlooking a beautiful bay. Porch is ideal for hanging out in the evening. Best part is the ferry next door that takes you to downtown Charleston thus avoiding all the traffic(a10 min ride)
Negative is the location in a parking lot. However, they have used tall bamboo to camouflage this fact.
Nice pool...very friendly staff and concierge.

We stayed at the Cottages for our intimate wedding ceremony and dinner and don’t regret a thing!
The venue is gorgeous – you have views of both the marsh and harbor, and sometimes have a small beach when the tide is out! Lisa and her team did a phenomenal job prepping the lawn area to make sure our day was picture perfect. The cottages themselves are timelessly homey while still providing that elevated “hotel” experience (I would absolutely recommending stay here over a beach house if I were visiting Charleston!). Being able to stay at our wedding venue location made our entire wedding party more relaxed and turned the wedding from just a one-day-event into a vacation.
Note – they have two separate cottage lawns, so this venue can absolutely support bigger weddings if necessary, but we opted for the smaller of the two!
Speaking as a local - this is truly a unique venue that provides an ambiance that you cannot get anywhere else in Charleston, and we’re so happy we had our wedding here.

Recently spent 4 nights for a girls getaway. Cottages were spacious and clean. Had everything needed. Views of the harbor from the porch were gorgeous! Staff was helpful, (letting us keep luggage there before our departure) and also with other inquiries. Even gave us a special treat for our birthday (s) celebration! Great location by water taxi and a few restaurants in walking distance. It was nice to be out of the city but only a quick boat ride away. Pool was decent to unwind and cool off in at the end of the day, but is only 4 ft. at the deepest level. Tables and chairs to sit on were nice. Only cons were there was no "beach" to sit or swim on. Strictly a view. Light snacks in reception room at main cottage is exactly that. Mini candy bars, peanuts, granola bars. No food of substance and definitely no breakfast when we were there. All very minor cons (unless you are looking for a beach). I would go back and absolutely recommend it for couples, friends or families!

Nice cottage right on the water (not for swimming). Screened in poach for cabin 3 is huge with hammock, chairs; table. Master is big with good attached bathroom. Second bedroom much smaller, bathroom needs work. Whole place could use refreshing. No maid service because I’d COVID and unhelpful front desk. Pool is small and shallow. Location is handy.

We had to cancel our initial wedding plans due to covid, however we replanned and held a much, much smaller family ceremony at the Cottages in order to respect social distancing. The cottage was very clean and the view was amazing. We saw many dolphins, birds, and even an alligator out in the water! I would highly recommend staying at the cottages. The staff was very accommodating.

After our wedding reception, which the Belvidere staff executed flawlessly, my wife and I rode off into the night, only to return about 45 minutes later. We had secretly reserved one of the Belvidere's 10 cottages for ourselves, but did not want all the guests to know. When we returned, the staff had delivered samples of everthing from the reception, as well as Champagne to the cottage. The refridgerator was also stocked with sodas and cheeses, and a selection of pastries waited in the counter-top cake stand to be eaten for breakfast the next day (which we enjoyed on the pseudo beach in the morning). The cottage was decorated in a very traditional Charleston/beach style, and every detail seemed to be carefully thought out. Anything we needed was attended to immediately by the staff, and always with a smile (never coming off as insincere). I simply can't say enough good things about this property (and we only stayed there one night). if you are looking for someting in the Charleston area, but don't want to be downtown. The haborside setting is amazing, the service is fantastic, and it's just across the bridge from downtown. I cannot recommend the Belvidere highly enough.

The staff were very happy to show us around and talk it up when we visited a few months ago; we were highly impressed... it's a great great looking place and we booked well in advance with high expectations and in eager anticipation of a wonderful stay.
the arrival was ok, but the staff was not at all very helpful or accommodating and never once checked on our needs over the course of our 4 day stay; the cottages (we had 4 total) looked ok on the surface, but the cleanliness was very sub-standard... living room couches are a little wear and tear and need to be cleaned; the kitchen floors were filthy (used a paper towel to wipe up a little spilled water and it was black with dirt), and the bathroom tile grouting was heavily mildewed in places; under and behind beds and furniture, there were huge dust bunnies and other various and sundry unidentifiable stuff.
the housekeeping staff were courteous and very helpful, but the management was totally unprofessional, rude, and downright combative at times... their customer service skills leave a lot to be desired.
overall, the experience at the cottages was just ok... bad taste in our mouths over the 4 days and left with the very uncomfortable feeling that the management there could not have cared less about us.

Is is sad when a property that you loved goes from a 4 star to a 1 star in such a short time. Returned for a visit was so disappointed and The manager was not available to assit and when contacted by the peron who was in charge but "couldn' t do anything" did nothing. You would do much better at Motel 6 - I am sure they have much better service and doesn't smell so bad that you have to leave. RUN don't walk somewhere else - This place is going down hill FAST!! They are letting things run down and not repairing or replacing them the items that are replaced are cheap . The pillows on the bed must have come from a dollar store. Size of travel pillows on a king size bed. Smell in the bathroom so bad made me sick - After many happy visit which are shown on my earler post will never again return and will warn the friends and family that I have recommended this property to go elsewhere.

We had stayed at The Cottages on Charleston Harbor about 5 years ago and found it to be perfection . We booked another stay there in Jan 2015 to celebrate our anniversary. The cottages are private and most of them have an excellent view of the Harbor. Charleston is nearby by either water taxi or a 10 minute drive. The ownership of this property has changed since our first visit What I noticed was that it was not as well maintained (peeling paint and the hot water took about 10 minutes to get warm in both the kitchen area and master bath). I noticed soap scum in the shower and some dust on the hard wood floors The biggest disappointment however was the breakfast which was not as good as most chain hotels offer. Five years ago The Cottages had all sorts of wonderful pastries which came from a local Charleston Bakery.. The location, privacy and view is still outstanding, but for the cost I would not expect to have the issues that I noted. I did e mail the management of my findings and did receive a prompt reply saying "sorry give us another chance" but I am doubtful that I will return based on my experience as Charleston has lots of fine accommodations to choose from.
