Mepkin Abbey is so worth the hour drive feom Charleston. A monestary near Moncks Corner, it is serene and beautiful. Take the tour which is $5.00 per peron, the grounds are wonderful to walk and the history is interesting. On the tour you can attend a brief prayer services with the monks. The gift shop has neat items. Probably not... More

The trees on the grounds of the Abbey are huge. They must be very old - extremely large trunks in a variety of shapes and of Very interesting designs. The grounds are well maintained and it's a quiet, peaceful place. Arrived too late and missed the guided tour. The church is nice. The sounds of the bells chiming are majestic.

I almost don't want to write a review in the fear of people finding out about this great Abbey. It's scenery is beautiful and so quiet . It's a great place for a private picnic or just a get away from the hustle and bustle of Charleston. The grounds are immaculate and the trees are magnificent. I feel truly at... More

My family and I visited Mepkin Abbey in February. Beautiful gardens, peaceful and relaxing stroll. Closed on Sunday and entrance is free. Be sure to visit the gift shop and buy some of the dried mushrooms. They are excellent!

It's a meaningful time to see all of the various crèches ( nativity scenes) from all over the world. Make reservations if you have over 8 people in your group, and make those reservations early when you see the festival advertised.

This was my second visit in a few years. This time I got to tour the abbey while the monks were having one of 7 daily prayer services. Our guide was excellent and gave wonderful information. Ask about the Crèche festival. Some beautiful Crèches were already out. The garden areas are beautiful! The gift shop can't be beat ! Consider... More

Love the sculptures, love the maze, love the gift shop -soaps and the syrup are must buy! Love how it opens up to water and has beautiful places to just walk, sit, and take pictures! Please keep noise levels low as some people are on retreats on the grounds.

This is a pretty and interesting place to visit. The hospitality and friendliness was apparent in every one we spoke to.They have a lovely gift shop with some nice local items as well as fresh or dried mushrooms grown on the abbey and some really fragrant candles. They have an adopted dog who roams the grounds greeting every one who... More

Loved the history of the founding of the Abbey. Beautiful grounds, too bad that on the day I visited it was raining. I suggest you go on a day it isn't raining in order to enjoy the beautiful gardens and and the view of the Cooper River. A very nice gift shop!
