I stayed here last night in the Stables Cottage with my Golden Retriever, Logan. It was a lovely experience. Checking in was just as described and I easily found our cottage. I enjoyed the self check-in very much.

The cottage is so comfortable and the decor is perfect. We had everything we needed. The kitchen has a microwave, a Keurig w/pods, a mini refrigerator, a dishwasher, sink, some dishes, glasses and utensils. Christian (the owner) left orange juice, yogurt, grapes, and a muffin — which is a perfect breakfast for me.

There’s no internet connectivity promised in this cottage, but I was able to get internet connection via my phone’s hotspot and I had phone service.

I parked right in front of the cottage, which was very convenient for unpacking things.

The bed is extremely comfortable and very pretty, the room has a thermostat for temperature control plus a ceiling fan, and there’s a nice big bathroom, and a tv sitting area with two nice leather chairs.

Logan was very pleased we had kitten friends outdoors. On our last trip out to potty, a kitten hopped up and I put Logan in a sit. The kitten woogled around on the ground very happy and I petted it. Then it bounced off. That made both Logan’s and my evening.

The next morning when I took Logan out, we had horses directly to the right of the cottage. They were wonderful to see also. Logan looked for his kitten friends, but was neutral about the horses.

Check out was so easy. I cleaned up other than making the bed, left a tip for the housekeeper (she does a great job) and left the key in the door. Easy and I enjoyed having some me time without the checking in and out process.

I would definitely stay here again. We were in and out too quickly, but the property is gorgeous and as I drove out looking at it, I wished we had more time to explore. The weekends with music and wine sound lovely.

We had our wedding reception here 5 years ago, our families stayed for the weekend and it was an incredible time. We just returned for our anniversary, and it was exactly as I remembered, but even better. An excellent wine selection, carefully curated by the inn keeper, who is a true connoisseur. The wine knowledge I gained alone is well worth the value of the bottles, which were very fine and fairly priced. This is not grocery store wine being marked up at a restaurant. The property is beautiful as ever, and with alpacas now, in addition to the horses. Everything about the cottage was carefully crafted for a romantic getaway, and perfectly clean and comfortable. We had a very relaxing weekend in our bathrobes sitting in front of the fire and in the rocking chairs out front, sipping our coffee and enjoying the charm of the cottage (it has a lot of charm). The fridge had various healthy snacks, orange juice and the kitchen is cozy (we often travel with food and cook our own meals). The wilderness and fresh country air outside is great, the views incredible. It was great to reconnect with the inn keeper, Christian, who we enjoyed getting to know 5 years ago, and he is now married with a baby, we are really happy for him. There is a reason we chose this place 5 years ago and we would choose it all over again. Our anniversary here this last weekend was perfect and we look forward to returning.

After moving to Atlanta, I've spent the past three decades staying with major hotel brands in Greenville while visiting old friends in Upstate South Carolina. But on my last visit, one of those friends urged me to try Red Horse Inn. A 35 minute drive northeast of Greenville took me to a beautiful rural retreat with wooded hiking trails and rolling pastures with horses and alpacas.

In addition to the Inn, the property includes half a dozen cabins. They're clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, and spaced far enough apart that you feel as if you have the whole property to yourself. Some of the cabins have outdoor decks with hot tubs. Some are pet friendly. On this visit, we stayed at "Huntbox," which was quiet, peaceful, and just the right size for our needs. But on future visits, we'll probably check out some of the other cabins for variety.

Christian's thorough (and humorous) email directions prepared us well to navigate the cabin and its amenities. With contactless check in and check out, it's like having your own private home in the foothills. Yet there is always someone on site and if you ned anything, assistance is just a phone call or text away.

Our stay was only for two nights. But we left feeling refreshed and remained relaxed even as we returned to heavy traffic back in Atlanta. We'll definitely be back.

The moment we drove up was private and peaceful. No desk. not a lot of people coming and going. Just real private and romantic! I would recommend it highly to everybody because the way he has it set up with the rules keeps the Inn safe, serene, small, intimate and pleasing. We could look down below breathe in the fresh air and freedom from the hustle and bustle of life. The Gable Room is the one I would recommend to everyone. The view takes your breathe away. The special touches such as the flowing feel of the room, Christian thinks of everything,. Bathrobes are hung, chairs are in the closet for the terrace where you can listen to music. Christian also prepared us a picnic basket at my request quickly. He is an excellent host and was always nearby if we needed anything. Perfect location to go to wineries, horseback riding, ziplining, and water rafting. You can gaze from the upstairs Gable room and see the Blue Ridge Mountains and listen to the music from below without leaving your room. The perfect romantic getaway!!

We could not have spent our anniversary in a more beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the massage therapist was not available for our dates and the weather cancelled the outdoor music. The wine bar, fire pits on the veranda and all the little touches in our room were enjoyed by us. Especially liked being on second floor with a small balcony to enjoy the view. Wish the self guided tour packages were available for free in the rooms along with instructions on the TV remotes. Took hubby a while to get the golf with 3 remotes to figure out. We figured out our own area tour plan to include Campbell covered bridge and the stone Poinsett bridge. The free WiFi in the main building is spotty but it’s not unexpected when you are getting “away” from hectic day to day life. Appreciated Christian substituting Greek yogurt and protein bars for the high carb muffins others have raved about. Even on a get-away, we were trying to eat healthy. Thank you!

After a good bit of research, my husband and I selected The Red Horse Inn for a two night getaway after Christmas. Originally, we planned to stay the nights of December 26th & 27th but due to extremely cold weather and possible poor driving conditions, we requested to change the nights to the 28th & 29th. We stayed in the Gable Room at the main inn. We arrived late and let ourselves in. This was not a problem for us. We actually enjoy being able to go directly to the room and make ourselves at home. The room was lovely and comfortable. We got up super early and drove to Pretty Place or Fred W Symmes Chapel to enjoy sunrise. It was about a 45 minute drive and so worth it! When we returned, we enjoyed the fruit, muffins, juice, and coffee left for us while enjoying the view of the property from our balcony. Afterwards, we explored and shopped in the little towns of Landrum, Tryon, and Saluda. We visited Pearson's Falls and Campbells Covered Bridge. We enjoyed meals at The Hare and the Hound, The Purple Onion, and Soulisa's Fine Thai Dining. We also visited Mountain Brook Vineyards and enjoyed wine with a pretty view. In the evening we returned to The Red Horse Inn and enjoyed sunset by the firepit on the terrace. The Red Horse Inn was a wonderful find! I'll also add that I enjoyed the soaps, shampoo, and conditioner provided to us - as well as the comfy robes. The animals were a plus. I loved seeing the dogs, pig, alpacas, and horses!! We had a wonderful experience. My only regret is that we didn't get to visit the wine bar and stay when live music was provided. We definitely want to come back for that and enjoy this beautiful spot again.

For the price, an overall disappointment. Room is nice and views spectacular, but that is where the positives end. Balcony in horrible shape, needing fresh paint as was most of the other visible woodwork. Fireplace in Gable room required a key that was not available. Juice, and muffins do not constitute a breakfast for a 500 dollar plus B&B. The minimum amenity for an anniversary welcome should include a waiting bottle of champagne, but that had to be provided by our thoughtful daughters. Nowhere near a 5 star experience that we have had at other places. The price should be somewhere in the 200's instead

My husband and I celebrated our COVID-belated 13th anniversary at the RHI this past weekend. We stayed in the East Room. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Christian the inn-keeper was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast in the room is simple but sufficient. We enjoyed the fridge and the in-room coffee maker. The most magnificent feature of the inn is the terrace and million dollar mountain view. We enjoyed the live music each night, watching the sun set. We plan to return over the summer for more "Wine and Music on the Terrace" events and hope to return next year to celebrate another anniversary!

Everything you’d hope for in a weekend getaway. We received excellent communication leading up to the trip, when we arrived the hospitality lives up to the expectations based on their accolades, stepping into our cottage every detail was intentional & personalize. It was relaxing & adventurous. We visited wineries, local restaurants & the alpaca experience was quite delightful. Then to cozy up on the back patio listening to a local artist play acoustic guitar with the most stunning view of the mountains at sunset- sheesh! The only downside was Sunday came too quick, we’re already planning our next getaway back!

We stayed in the Gable Room.
GPS got us there and the Inn's emailed directions got us into our room without a problem (entirely touchless).
Room was clean and looks just like the pictures.
The evening wine bar on the terrace was nice. Local live music from 7-9 was nice and both groups were talented. It was good that it was over by 9: made sure no one got too tipsy or rowdy and this was important since our room was right over the terrace.
Views and serenity were amazing. The weather was great for our trip.
Highly recommend.

The Red Horse Inn is non-smoking, but the fireplaces are gas, not wood. I also don't think that they want you to use them at all in the warmer months.
