Relaxing and fun vacation spot, nice stay on the resort with plenty of activities outside. Great beach access, Good historical sites and tours in this area. A lot of restaurants to choose from. Rented a golf cart provided access around the island.
As part of a family road trip in 2019 (I haven’t posted in a while, and trip advisor doesn’t let me choose dates in 2019), we stopped in Charleston for a quick tour of the city. While grabbing a bite to eat, we started looking up things to do in the area. By sheer luck, we saw a special advertised for Wild Dunes. After a short ride from Charleston, we couldn’t believe what we had found. The resort is absolutely beautiful with so much to explore. There is a hotel, as well as townhouse style rentals. For those seeking activities, there is a golf course, tennis, spa, gym and multiple pools (including one for adults). The resort has several options for dining (beach cafe on the pier with live music at night, indoor dining, ice cream shoppe, etc. ). There is a daily schedule of activities, such as outdoor bingo, campfire night roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, kids camp in the morning, and a variety of different events. You can lounge at the pool with drink service, or head out to the beach, where chairs and umbrellas are able to be rented. There is a boardwalk section with multiple shops. This luxury resort felt like a cruise ship on land because of the variety of scheduled things available. You can be as busy or as relaxed as you wish. We look forward to returning to Wild Dunes in the future!…
hotel is beautiful and the resort location is wonderful whish there was stuff to do after 10 .. the places goes silent at 10 which is horrible, also at check it is was a nightmare... the gentleman at the desk called me liar said the room type i booked and confirmed did not exist then when gave him my moms room type all of a sudden they found the room ! that kind of service is horrible when you a spending $1000.00 a night..... then nobody cleaned the room only on day 3.... so we had trash and dirty towels pilling up, also the valet was a nightmare.. they need to let you self park....
We are presently staying here so the jury is still out on overall experience. It is very very busy so check in was chaotic, rooms in the new hotel are very small and basic for the price. The noise from the pool and adjoining balconies is really bad at night, we had to call the front desk at midnight for help with noisy neighbors. There are no visible Covid protocols, staff is not masked. We awoke to a large leak in our bathroom, shower or toilet? We have requested a new room to avoid maintenance in our $600/ night room that will keep us from enjoying it, presently waiting for a callback from a manager. Staff is enthusiastic, but very young and inexperienced, and don’t seem to be able to solve any problems directly. Beach chair rental reservation was at the opposite end of the beach from our request and they would not let us move. At $40 per day you would think we could choose where we sit on the enormous beach, but apparently not. Starting to think a rental house on the beach makes more sense, it’s would certainly be a better value with more space and not so crowded. It is a very family oriented place, if you don’t want to be with a lot of kids of all ages it might not be for you.…
Extremely poor manager in James Howard. Extremely rude and not helpful. Maybe should find another profession. On the other hand, Walt went over the call of duty. Extremely helpful making sure guest were taken care of the correct way. Even had to apologize for James's actions.
Beautiful Location and facility. Staff are excellent and the beach was stunning. We cant wait to visit again. We will defiantly stay here again. Came to visit our daughter who just moved to Charleston.
Overall trip was good. Few items we were not happy with. Access to the pool was only through one gate. Multiple team members working at this gate, no need for that especially when there are two additional gates locked. Overall service was good. Food is decent, limited options but we are used to that by now. Beach is always a fun time. Would still recommend but they need to be a bit more diligent with attention to detail, especially for the price.
We traveled to SC for a baseball tournament and made it a vacation when not playing. The resort had a lot to do, was a short walk to the beach, and had great pools. The restaurants were great, but many closed early at the resort. The Oyster Catcher was top notch! We will definitely go back!
As a globalist booking (3 different rooms for 3 nights) our stay 6 months in advance we were not given adjoining rooms when we were told by several different employees that was the case. Just a “sorry we tried” at check in with small children and an elderly couple. Also, on our last night our AC went out and was 80 degrees in our room. Tech told us the coils were frozen and we were given a box fan. They finally found us another room at midnight. Changing rooms with small children and a pregnant wife at midnight at a “resort” was EXTREMELY disappointing!
Beautiful resort, very secure with security gates and guards. We were a block from the beach on a pond with turtles and alligators. Our condo was beautifully decorated with two bedrooms and baths. Perfect for a family with teenagers. It was an amazing location quite but just a short drive from Charleston. We will definitely return.
