Very close to Coligny Beach. Super pool area and lazy river. Two other pools for your enjoyment. WiFi service is very poor. Condo was clean and well appointed. It was a large unit with three bedrooms and two baths. Free shuttle service to the beach. We give this resort an A + rating!
My husband and I exchanged an RCI Week for a week at the Coral Reef Resort in Hilton Head in January. We couldn't take a full week off work, so we drove down after work Wednesday night and checked out Sunday. It was too cool to swim and rained half of one day, but we had a wonderful time. We biked to the beach on the complimentary bikes, walked the beaches, watched the sun rise and set, ate the delicious island food, did a little shopping. We had a 2 bedroom in case any of our grown kids could join us. The villa was clean, beautifully decorated, homey. We were surprised that 2 of the 3 bathrooms had tubs with water jets. I called ahead and everything was in place for us, we had no trouble with our very late night check-in. It was restful, therapeutic, and a perfect escape.
From beginning to end we had a wonderful time at Coral Reef. The newly renovated unit was large and well stocked. The pool area was very nice and well maintained. Easy parking right outside the front door. They provided two free bikes which we used every day around town.
Full disclosure: we arrived for a week and then, after two days decided to extend for another week. In case you're wondering how that squares with the overall review score: the second week was a non-refundable booking and trouble started pretty much the moment we confirmed that... In terms of the positives (which is what you'll experience if you're lucky): our house was spacious, set in very nice surroundings - overlooking a golf course and canal, where, on a sunny day, you can watch turtles sunbathing on the banks... Broadly, you can clearly see that this used to be relatively high-end accommodation some 20 years ago (with some elements of decor aging faster than others); i.e., I loved the massive and nicely appointed bathroom, with the large roof windows; the window seats in the master bedroom were also great, and my wife's favourite place to work. While the two air conditioning units were pretty noisy, and I can imagine them keeping someone up at night, they were not audible in the master bedroom, which is on the other side of the house. So, in principle, you should be able to enjoy a good night's sleep! I'll list the things we liked less, so that you can judge for yourself if this is a place you'd consider staying in despite them: - As per the photo, we had cockroaches in the kitchen. To Coral Reef's credit, pest control arrived the same day and put an end to this quickly (very cool and informative guy doing the intervention, btw., and the technician who came to repair our safe was also really helpful) - Racoons (fairly brazen, as per the 2nd photo) in the AC ducts, spending nights ripping out thermal insulation, apparently. They're kind of cute, but they did make a lot of noise and woke us up on several occasions (the insulation was scattered all around the house when we arrived, so how no one figured out where it came from is a bit beyond me...). - The internet connection is unstable and not really suitable for having meetings (if you're considering working from here) as we were routinely cut out... - The whole place looks as if the last time someone made any material investments was 20 years ago: stuff (mostly) works, but the last time you saw an oven, dishwasher or tv like those in the unit was probably at your granny's funeral... Case in point, our bathtub leaked through the ceiling whenever we let the water out... - The pest control and maintenance guy aside, staff was mostly inept: it took us about six phone calls to arrange the extra week in the same house. But we did get several calls about a pool party, clearly a great idea in the middle of a pandemic! - Even though, quality-adjusted, this place is definitely not cheap, we were still charged unauthorized "resort" fees (TBA: this was despite an explicit assurance on booking.com that no service fees were applicable). And while we have now clawed these back via booking.com (thanks!) having to do that was still irritating. - Please be aware that, aside from turtles, the canal is also home to alligators (1st photo). So care is advised if you have kids and would otherwise consider letting them play outside.…
The 2 bedroom unit was huge. Best thing is it came with two rental bikes for the week. You can cycle anywhere on the Island. Highly recommend cycling all over the Island. Really flat and beautiful. Timeshare pitch was worth the time. Great gifts $$.
